Morena’s P O V
I was still alive. I was going to die soon for sure but right now, I was still alive. Every breath was a battle, a sharp jab in my already throbbing chest. Even the slightest movement sent a wave of white-hot pain crashing through my body. My muscles, taut with tension, felt like burning wires pulsing under my skin. I hear Osk screaming for her mate in the back of my head. She finally decided to show up. A low, guttural moan escaped my parched lips, the only sound I could muster. I try to move but immediately regret it. Every move , even the gentlest brush of fabric, sent shivers of agony radiating outwards.
“Our mate is not responding, Morena.” She says in agony.
“He will not, Osk. Even if his wolf would want to talk to us, I doubt Leander would let him.” I reply.
“But why? He is our mate. He is supposed to love us.” She cries.
“We can not help it. HE is damaged and we are not good enough for him If we were he would have listened to us.” I whimper.
“No no no! That can not be. We need to get him back. He is our alpha. he gave us orders. He said we needed to shift. If we listen to his orders he might come back for us.” She frantically says freaking out.
“We tried to shift before, Osk. We tried it for hindered of times.” I reply trying to move my body again. My hair was clinging to my forehead like a cold damp shroud from the sweat beaded on my eyebrows.
“We have to do it this time. We can not lose our mate. We will die without him.” She says.
“We will die if we shift, Osk.” I try to reason. I was weak. Every bone in my body was probably broken from the fall. Tears welled up in my eyes, blurring the world into a kaleidoscope of pain and despair. I do not think I will be able to fight her if she decides to take over. This is it. We are doomed. I am going to die. And I hope Leander would regret it until his dying breath. If I ever survive it, I will never forgive him. I hope he rots in hell for eternity.
I feel my control dissipate bit by bit. Osk was taking over. She was going to force our body to shift. Time seemed to stretch and distort, each agonizing second an eternity in itself. My pulse hammered against my ribs, a frantic drumbeat echoing the rhythm of my pain. Every muscle in my body seemed to be in constant revolt, a symphony of tremors and spasms. I felt disoriented, her body a battlefield where every nerve ending screamed its own battle cry.
Through gritted teeth, I whisper a single, desperate plea: "Please, make it stop." before surrendering to darkness as I feel Osk completely take over control.
Leander P O V
I am a fucking idiot. How could I believe it. How stupid was I to think for a second that she might really be my mate. She has been hiding this from me for over two months. God knows what else she is hiding. I am going to let her rot to death there. She once told me that she might not survive if I pushed her down the balcony. Which means she might have died from the fall into the pit. And I feel nothing different which means she was not my mate. It was all fake. A fucking charm and I needed to figure out who was behind it.
I call Asher through the mind link and order him to drop every thing from his hands and come to my office immediately. I continue pacing back and forth in my office with my mind running a hundred miles per hour until he arrives.
“What did you do?” He demands as soon as he sees my face. “Where is Morena? She was with you the last time I saw you.” He adds.
“Morena is in the pit.” I simply reply.
“What? Are you fucking crazy? how could you do that? She is your fucking mate, Leander.” He bellows with rage.
“She is not mate of mine! She might not even be a real werewolf.” I yell back. “What the hell is that supposed to mean?” He demands.
“I took her to the lake earlier to let her free her wolf for a bit since she has not shifted in months. When I told her that she got pale and eventually told me that she has not shifted yet because she had a weak body.” I growl out, remembering how much of an idiot I was.
“You are a fucking idiot. Morena not shifting was not something she was trying to hide. You just did not have enough time to talk with your own fucking mate for her to tell you about it. You gave her no reason to trust you either. That is probably why she decided against telling you.” He sighs shaking his head.
“What do you mean?” I demand.
“I talked with Rena yesterday. She told me all about it. How her sister was afraid to ruin the good thing you two had going on but felt the need to tell you the truth. I have been meaning to tell you since yesterday but could not get to it. I did not think that you were stupid enough to di something like this.” HE explains.
“That still does not explain why she has not shifted yet. Her sister could be her accomplice, you know.” I reply.
“Now you just sound plain paranoid. It is completely normal for werewolves to shift late, Leander. Some never even shift. Remember uncle Benson’s daughter. She turned eighteen and did not shift. Our father was kind enough to wait for a few months. but when she still didn’t, his twisted fucked up mind took over and he forced her to..”
“And she died in the process.” I finish for him.
“Exactly. So right now, you have a big mess to clean, Leander. you might have fucked this one up royally. “ He says.
“Fuck!” I yell before storming out of my office with him right behind me.
