Leander’s P O V
Alpha Luke and his company left for their pack earlier today. They promised to continue investigating the matter at hand from their side and to keep me updated if anything new comes up. I was currently in my office. We had a meeting to discuss some changes that had to be done in the pack. Some preventive measures needed to be put in place in order to be somehow ready if something urgent suddenly comes up.
“I am telling you, Leander, we have to cancel this months pack run. We can not risk it.” Asher says for the one hundredth time today. We have been arguing about whether we should put off the monthly run or not. Asmund and Asher had different opinions about it. Both of them made a good case and I had no idea who’s side should I be taking.
“The pack will be in an uproar if we cancel it. We can not have the pack members acting up at this sensitive time.” Asmund argues back.
“They can go on solo runs like they always do. The monthly run is tradition about gathering up and enforcing the spirit of the pack. There is an extraordinary situation at hand and we need to put some extraordinary measures in place for it.” Asher adds.
“They will demand an explanation and we can not give them one. The elders will be all over us. We will have no choice but to tell them why we did it. We can not take that risk. If any one finds out the pack is in danger it will cuase a chaos every where.” Asmund says.
“Chaos can be managed.” I say. I knew how to put my pack members and elders in place.
“Not if it gets out of the pack borders.” Asmund replies.
“What is that supposed to mean?” Asher asks.
“If the word gets out there about what is going on in here, not only will our pack matters be revealed to neighboring pack; which will make us easy targets; our unknown enemies will know we have figured them out. If our theories are true then they will make other attack strategies.” Asmund explains.
“You are saying that we should keep it under wraps that we have connected the dots? they might have already figured that out though.” Asher sighs.
“How so?” I ask.
“We had alpha Luke visit us. It might be masked as your mate being one of their pack but if our enemies are smart enough they would figure out that we had him over here to discuss the things he knows. It is no coincidence that he visited us only a few days after they sent us that sign.” he replies running his hand through his hair. Asher liked mysteries but he also gets frustrated if he can’t figure out an answer for it soon enough. Unlike me, he was very impatient in that regard.
“Why cancel the run if they have every thing figured out already?” Asmund asks. “Because the run is the golden opportunity for them to get to us.” I state.
“Exactly. Every one will be busy with the run. We will be at high risk. Especially since the attackers literally have no smell and we still do not know what they from us exactly.” Asher continues.
“Gather the pack and tell them the monthly run has been postponed this month.” I adress Asmund after a while.
“What do I tell them if they ask questions?” He asks.
“Alpha’s orders.” I simply reply. He nods his head before leaving the office.
“Such a shame. I was kind of excited for this month’s run.” Ashers sighs after he was sure that Asmund was out of ear shot.
“Why?” I ask not fully understanding what he meant by that.
“Morena did not participate in the past two months’ runs since you had her locked up in your room...” He starts to say and I immediately glare at him.
“Come on. I am just saying. The girl only got to leave that room these past few days after being prisoned there. She has not gone for a run in ages. Her wolf is probably crawling the walls begging to be set free.” He explains.
“She never expressed her desire to go for a run.” I reply.
“How could she? More like when would she? You probably do not let her talk to you.” He jokes.
“I asked her multiple times what she wanted to do. She never expressed her desire to go for a run. She asked to see the library instead.” I explain.
“Isn’t it weird though? I doubt she shifted in the room. I never heard of a werewolf staying this long without shifting.” He adds.
“I get what you mean, Asher. Now that you mention it it is kind of bizarre. I had so much on my mind I never gave it much thought. She told me multiple times that she had a weaker body but I still feel the presence of her wolf when I am with her. If it has been growing weaker Asolf would have gone mad.” I reply.
“I saw her eyes shift in color once or twice when she was getting emotional. THere is no doubt she has her wolf. But the fact that she had expressed no desire to go for a run is still a bit unsettling.” he continues.
“I know what you mean.” I sigh before continuing. “I was going to go see her later on today anyway. I will make sure to look into the matter, soon.”
“Make sure you do not fuck up while looking into the matter, Leander.” He mocks standing up, fully understanding that I was dismissing him. I had to figure out the mystery behind Morena as soon as possible. I already had a lot on my mind. I strongly hope that she was innocent. Things have been nothing but enticing between us the past few days and I wanted to keep thing going like that. But I can not shake the feeling that all the weird things have started to happen ever since she arrived here.
