Chapter 39 Leander’s P O V
Today is the day alpha Luke is arriving. I am currently waiting to welcome him at the ntrance of the pack border. Asmund and Asher were with me. They were a bit far from discussing random shit as I was leaning on the car lost in thought. It has been two days since the heavenly night I had with Morena. I still can’t forget how good she felt. I had orgasmed three times that night but it was not enough to satisfy my hunger for her. I feel a strange pang in my chest as I remember her hurt expression as I did not hesitate to tell her that I would punish her if she made a mistake. I should not have done that. That was not the right course of action. If she had the intention of ever doing anything now she would think twice before actually attempting to do it. She looked so scared with color drained from her face as I explained the different methods of punishement to her.
She has been lost in thought or buried in a book every time I went to see her over the past few days. She replied to anything I say curtly and avoided making any kind of eye contact or communication with me.
Alpha Luke’s car arrives soon after. And I straighten up to properly greet him. I would have to think of a way to smooth things over with, Morena later.
Alpha Luke comes out of the car accompanied by two of his warriors and the guy that Morena said helped raise her. I think his name was Sion. I assume he left his beta behind to take care of pack matters during his absence.
“Alpha Luke, it is a pleasure to see you again.” I formally say as I extend my hand in greeting.
“Pleasure is all ours, alpha Leander.” He replies just as formally. I tell them to follow behind my car back to the pack house since we did not have a lot of time to waste. He was only staying for two days and I hoped that time was enough to discuss all aspects of the issue.
“I invited you here because it’s an important matter that could not be discussed over a simple phone call.” I say when we were back in my office and all settled in.
“I understood as much from your phone call. But what could be so important that we had to arrange for a face to face meeting?” Alpha Luke asks curiously.
“I will cut the chase and tell you every thing straight. There has been some unusual activity on the pack borders lately. From attempted attacks to trespassing.” I say.
“I do not assume you invited us here to ask for help protecting your pack. You are the strongest. You are in no need of assistance.” He states matter of factly.
“Indeed, I do not require any assistance in protecting my pack. However, I am in need of assistance nonetheless. THe activity that I mentioned was not a normal rogue activity. The day I called you, there was two bodies of dead rogues places across our borders. The bodies carried no signs of torture. If anything, they looked well kept. They were killed by a simple cut. They were slain to death and thrown there. Now, if that is not suspicious enough, I will tell you more. There was no presence detected on the pack borders. The patrols only knew something was wrong when they saw the actual corpses. There was no smell and no evidence of where they came from whatsoever.” I say and that seems to get his attention. So I carry on. “I was talking to Morena the same day and she had one fo her nightmares which I assume you are aware of. She was telling me about it and then she told me the details of the attack on your pack whe she was yourger.” I say.
“The attack on my pack has many similarities to the one that happened to you. The rogues were not detected until they met the first patrol. THey had no smell or trace of their origins. I understand why you called for me now. And why this matter could not be discussed over the phone.” He replies.
“The attacks have a clear pattern. THey must be organised by the same party. If you have any details that were not mentioned to the public kindly tell us about them. If we gather enough evidence and we collaborate maybe we can find out who our enemy is.” Asher says taking over for me.
“The attack was sudden indeed and my pack suffered a lot of losses. We are still dealing with the consequences until this very day. I do not have much detail to spare. but I can assure you this. The rogues did not attack to kill. It was way more organised than that. It did not carry the typical behavior of a rogue attack. THey were headed for the eleders quarters and they just happened to destroy everything in their way. They took some old books and items that our elders considered sacred and just left as soon as they acquired them. THere was no fighting unless it was absolutely necessary.” He explains.
“Are you saying that if you let them go on their way that they perhaps would have not killed anyone?” Asher asks confused.
“It was a theory that we debated in my pack for a while but we eventually just let it go. There was nothing we could change at that point anyway.” He sighs.
“I could contact my beta and arrange for him to get you a list of all the items and books that they took. Because they came for specific things and did not take everything away. “ He continues.
“Yes, please do that, alpha Luke. Now, if you kindly accompany my beta. He will show you t your rooms so you can catch some rest.” I curtly say.
“I also heard a rumor that the crescent moon pack ahd a few sacred items stolen from their elders as well a few years ago. You might want to check on that. It might not be arumor after all. The guys named Sion says as they leave the room.
I exchange a knowing look with Asher as we sit there in complete silence. This might be way bigger than we had anticipated after all.
