Leander’s P O V
“How do I do that? How do I force her to shift back when she is barely conscious?” I helplessly ask.
“You order her to shift. Her wolf is venerable right now, she will obey. We just have to pray she is concious enough to hear you.” He sighs. I can feel how much the thought of losing his mate scares him. I am scared to lose her as well. Though I still had my doubts about this whole mate thing but I now was more inclined to think that it was due to my twisted nature and had nothing to do with Morena.
I bow down until my face is close to her own. Her breathing was shallow. Barely there. “Shift back, Morena.” I whisper. “Shift. That is an order from your alpha.” I add. I helplessly wait for her to listen to me.
“What is going on down there, Leander?” I hear Asher ask.
“Nothing. I am just listening to what Asolf is telling me to do. My own decisions got us here. Maybe it is time I start listening to the fucker.” I reply and I hear him huff in impatience. I know I was throwing a gamble just waiting for her to shift back. I could just take her while she was like this but Asolf seemed to know her and her wolf better than I did so I chose to listen to him this time.
It feel like forever and I almost throw all what Asolf told me outof the window and carry her out but she starts to slightly shift. The white fur coat starts to disappear and be replaced by her creamy flesh. No sounds except for painful moans come out of her mouth. Her eyes were closed shut. Her clothes were torn when she shifted so I quickly take off my jacket and throw it over her curled up form. A jagged gash marred her right leg, the crimson stain spreading rapidly. She slightly opens her eyes and a panic fills them as she registers who I was. The fear is quickly gone and replaced with nothing. Her gaze was empty and that scared the shit out of me. Fragile as porcelain, Morena lay there crumpled on the floor, her normally vibrant eyes dull with pain. Those eyes that portrayed every emotion that went through her. I usually understood what she had in mind by just gazing at her. Now there was only the pain she was feeling. Nothing else. All other feeling in the world were locked away from her gaze. A sheen of sweat covered her whole body, her hair glued to her face, her body convulsing with each ragged breath. I could see the life drain out of her as her breath turned into shallow gasps.
“Throw the rope, Asher! Now!” I order as I wrap her body in the jacket before lifting her up. She lets out a gasp of pain at the sudden movement before going completely limp in my arms. The only sign that she was still alive was the faint heart beat I could hear.
Asher throws the rope and I immediately grab it and climb up.
“Holy fuck!” Asher curses as soon as his eyes land on her disshiveled frame before he dashes out running before me. Probably to make way for me as I bolt right after him. The run to the pack’s emergency was shorter than that from the pack house but it felt like a thousand miles as I felt the life slowly drain out of her with every step I took.
We finally arrive and I find the doctor waiting for us at the back door with a gurney ready for her. I gently place her down and cover her a bit. I could not help it. It was not the time for this but I did not want anyone catching a glimpse out of her.
“You better save her or I will have your head on a platter for my dinner.” I threaten the doctor who already looked panicked at the state Morena was in. Not to blame him, the pack knew she was my mate and some of them even called her luna. To see her in such state was probably unsettling.
“Yes, alpha.” He bowes as he leads the gurney inside towards one of our equipped trauma rooms. My pack’s emergency was fully equipped. I wanted to be ready for anything and a war could start at any moment. I spent a fortune over it as soon as I took over as alpha.
“What are you waiting for?” I yell at the doctor as he was assessing Morena’s state and not actually doing anything to help her. He looks at me panicked. I was about to yell at him again but Asher stops me. he places a hand over my shoulder and pushes me out of the room. I do not budge at first. There was no way I was leaving her side before I was sure she was fine.
“You are not helping, Leander. Get out.” He orders his voice mirroring my panic.
“No, I can’t leaver her here.” I argue back.
“The doctor is terrified of you. How do you expect him to do his job properly with you hovering over his head.” He explains and I cave in, letting him push me out of the room as he closes the door leaving the doctor inside with Morena.
I did this. I killed her.” I sigh as I plomp down the chair in front of the room.
“Do not say that! She is not dead yet, Leander! You still have a chance to fix this.” He soothes sitting next to me.
“Did you not see how bad her state was?” I yell. “Do you think she will survive that? She was barely breathing, Asher.” I say feeling as if my heart was being ripped out of my chest. When did I start feeling all of this? How could she grow on me this fast? I might have ruined my life with my own hands.
