I can't resist the temptation to know what she thinks about that woman.
"I just want to know your opinion of her," I say, downplaying it.
"I told my son that woman is a gold-digger. He was so blinded by the supposed love he felt for her that he didn't believe me. The good thing is, I won't have to see her again because my son and Paige have given themselves a chance to love each other," she says, smiling excitedly.
"Well, I agree with what you think of that woman. I have a bad feeling about her. It's as if something inside me tells me that something is not right with her and everything that's happening," I begin speaking without carefully considering my words.
"What do you mean by 'everything that's happening now'?" she asks, very serious.
"When I talk to your son, she comes to see me. I have something to discuss with someone who won't tell me to drop the matter because I won't. Once I know everything, she will agree with me. She can come see me tomorrow when she's informed about everything," I say, scratching my head.
"I think it's best if I leave and come back tomorrow when Mason tells me what you didn't want to tell me," she responds, annoyed.
"I'm just respecting my friend's privacy. You know I care about you a lot, and I don't want you to be angry with me. We'll talk tomorrow without fail, and I'll tell you everything that's on my mind," I assure her.
"I hope you keep your word, and when my son tells me what he's hiding, I'll call you," she replies, nodding.
We say goodbye, and I work, work, and work. That's how my day goes. I go to my pregnant wife's office to pick her up, and I find her smiling alongside Isabella, her new assistant.
I observe them, especially Sarah, of course. Despite her smile, I can see the sadness in her eyes, all because of what supposedly fate had planned for Mason, which I think is bullshit.
We go home, and after dinner, we go to bed. Sarah is feeling down, so I cheer her up by eating whatever she craves.
My alarm goes off, or at least I think it's my alarm. I grab my phone and see that it's six in the morning. I silence the incoming call and squint my eyes to see who's calling” it’s Emily.
“Hello," I say softly.
"I'm sorry for the hour. I haven't been able to sleep at all after what Mason told me. Did I wake you up?" she asks, feeling sorry.
I get up stealthily and silently so as not to wake up my wife, who's sleeping like an angel. Like every day of our life together, I prepare breakfast for her and take it to the bed.
"No, I was about to get up. Are you feeling, okay?" I ask, concerned.
"To be honest, no, this can't be happening, it's not true. I don't believe a word that woman says, something doesn't add up in her whole story," she says, and I can hear the anger in her voice.
"I feel the same way as you do. I've been looking into it, well, I just started investigating, and I wanted your help," I explain as I prepare everything.
"Alright, let me know what time you'll be at your office, and I'll come over," she says, ending the call.
I prepare breakfast for my beautiful wife and bring it to her. She receives it with a smile and starts eating. I've changed the menu to a healthier one for my loved ones, but I always try to make it appetizing for her. My beautiful wife doesn't finish her breakfast when she rushes to the bathroom to vomit. I follow her and hold her hair back.
"Don't look at me like that, I can do it myself," she says, embarrassed.
"Don't be silly, the baby is both of ours, so everything that comes with it will be shared by both of us," I say, caressing her back.
After she's done, I offer her water and clean her mouth with a damp towel. She brushes her teeth, and I step out of the bathroom to let her shower, only because she chased me out.
When I am in the room waiting for her to finish her bath, I look on the internet for the doctor who is going to attend her, to ask what to do when she vomits and there is no food in her stomach. I worry about that; I really worry about everything.
I search among the best specialists and on the internet, I see the picture of the sexy, yes sexy, doctor who gave her the news that Peyton should be resting. It doesn't give me confidence, maybe it's out of jealousy to see him so perfect, however, I will ask Emily for her opinion when we meet, I'm sure this news will cheer her up a little with everything she learned last night.
I see her come out of the bathroom and ask her if she wants something to eat, she shakes her head while trying to smile, but it doesn't come out. Then I make the mistake of telling her something that makes her furious.
“If you're not feeling well, you can stay at home and not go to the office," I say. Upon hearing what I said, she gets furious, and I don't understand what I said or did to anger her.
"Are you telling me not to work? I haven't even gained weight yet, and you don't want me to go to the office anymore? I'm not sick, just pregnant!" she shouts at me, storming out of the room in anger.
By the time I find her, she's already sitting in the car, thankfully on the passenger side. I don't think it's a good idea for her to drive, at least not for these few months.
We arrive at the office, and the first person I see is Emily at the reception. Sarah spots her, and her expression changes immediately.
"Oh, Emily dear, how are you?" my beautiful wife asks.
"Darling, I'm fine. How are you?" Emily greets, smiling.
"Pregnant," my wife tells her, and Emily is shocked.
"Wow! Congratulations, my girl. I'll finally have a grandchild that I can eagerly await," Emily says, her eyes welling up.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot," Sarah says, feeling terrible for blurting out without thinking.
"Oh, no, darling. This is good news amidst everything that's happening. It truly makes me happy. I suppose we can already consider you as the grandmother of our child, even if it's not by blood," my wife and I smile at what she said.
"Of course, you're already labeled as the grandmother of our son or daughter. You can't escape that role. I won't accept complaints later on!" I say, taking my wife by the waist.
After the laughter, we go to my office. Sarah is with us for a moment, during which Emily assures her that vomiting is normal. I don't mention my fear of her being empty-stomached. I smile and wait to be alone with Emily.
