Paige narrates:
My friends drive me to the airport sadly, I try to smile, but it doesn't come out well.
When we arrive at the airport we get off and they take my baby to his place of travel, since he won't be able to go next to me. Because of his size he will be carried in the hold. Luckily the vet in charge of seeing him helped me a lot with this trip, he checked that he was in good health and the flight is direct, so he will be flying for so long.
I say goodbye to my friend, I ask her to keep me updated on every step of the pregnancy, she accepts, and we will talk to each other daily by video so I can see how my nephew is growing.
Ethan asks me before I leave,
"Are you sure about leaving?" I nod and with a heavy heart, I tell him,
"It's the best thing I can do. I need time and distance from him. It's not easy to move on when I see him every day." I say, taking his hand.
"I understand, but I'm not giving up. I feel like something isn't right. I'll keep track of you. You won't escape from me," he says, hugging me.
"Only on the condition that you don't tell him. It's fair and necessary for both of us to heal and move on with our lives," I explain, looking into his eyes.
"Don't worry, I'll take it upon myself to investigate this whole situation that I don't believe in at all," he says seriously.
"Leave that woman alone. You have no reason to treat her badly. I've already told you that she's not to blame for him falling in love with her," I say, touching his shoulder.
Ethan is blinded by the idea that this woman is evil and doesn't deserve his friend. He insists that it's "convenient" that she got pregnant just when Mason was about to leave her. On the other hand, I don't dwell on that. It has already happened, so there's no point in fixating on things that don't add up.
"No matter how much you ask me to leave her alone, I'm going to investigate until I get to the bottom of all this. You'll see that something strange is going on with that woman," he insists.
"Let me say goodbye myself. She's more of a friend to me than to you. Besides, it's two against one," Sarah says, pushing her husband.
We hug for a long time; I don't want to let go of her. She is the best friend I can have; she is a beautiful gift that Mason gave me is Ethan and Sarah's friendship. They are beautiful people, the ones I will always have in my life.
They call my flight and I say goodbye for the last time to them, my eyes fill with tears from the emotions I have inside me.
Sitting in my seat, I look out of the window, and I record in my memory the image I have in front of me, the landscape and weather I lived with all my life and that I will not see again until who knows when.
I close my eyes when the flight begins and I fall asleep, the night before I didn't do it because my body felt exhausted from so much thinking.
It's only a six-hour trip, so I'll take advantage of it to sleep.
Without realizing it, I arrive at my destination, Rio de Janeiro. A beautiful place with a tropical climate welcomes me with a beautiful sun. The first thing I do when I get off is to go get my baby. He must be scared by the trip. My little dog is happy to see me and takes off his frightened face. I pet him and luckily for me my friend's partner is a veterinarian. They are waiting for me at the airport with a smile.
We greet each other and they take me to their house, which is where I will be staying for a few days, until I find a permanent place to live. I am not worried about how to support myself, at least not for these days, since I have enough money saved to live quietly for a few months. Although the idea is just a month to adapt and then look for a job or see what to do.
My plans are to start over, to turn my life around and reinvent myself as a woman.
The reception is fantastic, everything is going great. The first thing I do after resting, since I am two hours away from where I came from. So, I have more hours in the day. I'm going to buy a new phone number, which I sent a message to Sarah.
