Narrated by Emily:
The big day has arrived. You may be wondering which day I'm referring to. It's quite simple. Today is the day I will expose all of Peyton's lies.
I told her that I had planned a baby shower for my grandson. She's very excited about what I supposedly prepared.
I have the venue where all the guests will gather, not that there are many, only the ones who are genuinely interested.
"Peyton's friend" Mason will be there, along with Ethan, Sarah, Riley, and my husband. I sent an invitation to Paige, but she confirmed that she won't attend. I explained to her that it's not what she thinks, but she still didn't want to come.
I hope that when everything is over, I can explain to her why it took so long to expose this woman who pretends to love my son and a family that was never close to forming with him.
In my bag, I have the DNA sample with the result. Even during this time that has passed, I managed to obtain the DNA from her friend, the neighbor. As for the doctor, he didn't want to know if this baby was his because he wouldn't take responsibility if it were.
The wonderful thing about all of this is that if the baby is the doctor's, he will deny any connection to Peyton. Naturally, he has my support and that of several other patients. I also advised him to talk to his wife about a woman who tried to overstep boundaries with him. This will give us more credibility regarding our truth and Peyton's truth.
I arrive and find Sarah with Ethan. I see them arguing, and she's not happy about being here, and that's my fault. I approach them to tell her that it's my fault and that I have something important to say.
"Hello, my dear children," I greet them with a smile.
"Emily, how are you?" Ethan responds, kissing my cheek.
"I'm well, my beautiful Sarah. How are you?" I ask, kissing her cheek.
"I'm uncomfortable at this event. I want to go home, and I don't think Peyton would mind," she says seriously.
"My darling, I need you to stay at least until I speak. I have something important to say, and I want you to be here," I request, taking her hand.
"I'll only stay for an hour, nothing more. And if Ethan doesn't want to leave, I'll go alone," she responds determinedly.
"I promise that after you hear what I have to say, you won't leave," I assure her confidently.
We proceed and enter. We find the guests with the gifts they brought for the baby, well, only Riley and the neighbor, who brings a very large gift.
I see Peyton smiling happily at everything she sees. Of course, I had to decorate everything as if this event were real, so she wouldn't suspect anything.
We approach and greet everyone. Obviously, I greet Peyton affectionately, greet everyone, and when I finish, I say to them,
"Let's take our seats. I have a surprise," I say excitedly.
"Mother, you didn't have to. With everything you organized, it's already enough," my son tells me.
"Of course, I had to. It's a very important surprise for your future marriage," I say, smiling.
I see Peyton getting excited, who knows what goes through her mind, poor naive girl. When everyone is seated, I take my position in front of them all and turn on the screen of the data or projector that I had set up for this occasion.
"Well, first of all, I want to thank Ethan and Riley, who were my support for all of this. Secondly, I want to explain to you all that I've been organizing this surprise for several weeks," I say, looking at my son. "Well, Mason, take this envelope and read what it says. Although it will also be displayed on the screen through the projector," I say, looking at my son.
Mason opens the envelope and reads what it says, becoming shocked just like Peyton, who is seeing the same thing on the screen. I watch as his face loses color, and he stands up, unable to believe what it says.
"Result of DNA sample: No match found with Mr. Mason White."
Well, it doesn't say that exactly, but that's what it implies. I see Peyton's friend looking astonished, and there's a glimmer in his eyes that suggests he has hopes of being the father of this baby.
"Yes, as you read, dear son, that baby Peyton is carrying is not yours. She has been deceiving all of us. The only thing she loves about you is the inheritance our family has. She doesn't know what love is. So, Peyton's 'friend,' think carefully if you truly know her because she always knew that my son was married, and in order to secure the family's money, she lied about the baby she's expecting. I wouldn't be surprised if she now claims it's your child upon finding out about the amount of money you have in your account. Don't let yourself be fooled," I advise the man who is looking shocked at everything.
"That's not true! She's lying. I have never given any sample for this examination. It's false," she says nervously and scared.
"My dear, how innocent you are. Do you remember the sample the doctor took from you to check if the baby had any health issues? I used that same sample for this examination. You have no idea how long I've been following your footsteps," I say, smiling with malice because she deserves it for being so cynical and deceitful.
"I haven't given any permission for this examination! This is a violation of my rights," she says, almost in tears. "Don't believe any of this. You know I love you, and..." She looks desperate at my son.
She tries to take his hand, but my son moves away from her.
"I can't believe it. I've lost everything for you, for the supposed baby we were going to have together," he says, more to himself than to others.
Out of the corner of my eye, I see Peyton's friend standing up and shaking his head.
"I don't think I have anything to do here," he says, turning around to leave.
“"Wait a moment, don't you want to know if that baby is yours? “ I say, taking out the envelope that I still had in my bag.
“What?“ he asks, confused.
“I’m sorry for stealing a sample of your DNA, but I think now you understand the reason why,” I say nervously.
“I understand,” he says, taking the envelope and reading silently. “I never want to hear from you again in my life. Everything I said doesn't matter anymore, and what I felt for you doesn't exist,” he says, walking away with tears in his eyes.
“What?” Peyton asks, confused. She was probably expecting the baby to be his, but no, my dear, the baby is the doctor's, who won't take responsibility for him.
“Darling, the baby is not his. I think you should remember who the father is. Son, needless to say, if I didn't tell you earlier, it's because I didn't have enough evidence to expose this woman. I hope you're not angry with me,” I say, approaching my son.
“Mom, I can't think about that right now,” he says, distressed.
I step away and see Riley with Sarah, who is crying. I approach her and ask her what's wrong.
“My dear, I'm sorry about this surprise. I didn't think it would affect you this much, “ I say, hugging her.
“It’s not that. The thing is...”
“Hormones,” Riley interrupts.
They exchange a look that seems to convey something, but I don't ask further questions. They bid me farewell and leave.
Peyton tries to talk to Mason, but my son doesn't want anything to do with her. He reproaches her for how she could believe in her, and I think it's best to leave them alone.
I've done what I needed to do.
