Narrated by Peyton:
I went to the doctor's appointment for the baby by myself. I didn't want Mason to accompany me because I have sexual cravings, and the doctor is really good with just his hands. I don't think I need to explain more than that.
I arrive at the clinic and I'm surprised to see him with an assistant. I don't understand why it's the first time I see someone else in the clinic besides him.
"Good morning, doctor," I greet him in a normal manner.
"Good morning, Miss Peyton. Please come in," he responds with a smile, pointing to the seat in front of his desk.
"Thank you. Who is this young lady?" I ask, unable to keep quiet.
"Well, let me introduce you to my intern. She's learning about this specialty," he explains nervously.
"Alright, let's get started," I say impatiently since my initial excitement faded when I realized we're not alone.
"Well, I need to take a sample to perform an examination and see if the baby has any health issues. If we find anything, we can start looking for solutions right away," he tells me nervously.
It's the first time I see him like this. He's always been confident in his actions. It's strange.
"Does it harm us in any way?" I ask nervously.
"No, not at all. It's something I always do with my patients; I just forgot to mention it to you," he says very formally.
"Well, if it's something done to everyone, I can't refuse," I tell him, feeling a bit nervous.
He takes the sample from me, and I must admit it was uncomfortable. It's not unbearable pain, but it does hurt.
After finishing the appointment and the sample collection, I head home. With all the chaos surrounding the prenuptial agreement, I need to resolve this as soon as possible.
I've thought about signing it or not many times. If I refuse, I'll lose the trust of Mason's family, and that's the last thing I need right now when I'm not even married to him yet.
I feel completely humiliated by the idiot Mason. Who does he think he is to ask me for a prenuptial agreement? No matter how much I played the victim, it didn't work when I heard that my friend proposed something to me, something I didn't accept.
I have no other option but to sign and lose my fortune. However, thanks to the baby I'm carrying, he will be the sole heir to all the money, so I didn't lose it completely.
When I hand him the signed agreement, he doesn't say anything. It surprises me that he would complain about it when he has never been jealous and has never mistrusted me. I don't understand why he's acting this way now.
I cannot allow anything to slip through my fingers. Mason will be my husband and the father of my child, even if it's by force. I will start thinking of a plan in case he backs out of the marriage. He has been acting too strange these last few days.
Narrated by Mason:
Since I talked to Ethan about what I saw that day when I arrived unannounced at the house, I haven't stopped thinking about what that man proposed to Peyton.
Now I'm on my way to her house to talk to her about the agreement. I don't know if she has signed it or not. I'll just arrive and see what she did with the document, and I'll demand explanations about the "friend" I found her talking to and what he proposed to her. I need her to tell me.
I am living in torment with her, and I'm sure it will only get worse once we're married. I don't love her, and I never will. My heart will only love Paige as a woman and my child, whom Peyton carries in her womb.
Paige will never leave my heart, and I will never feel that love for anyone else again.
When I arrive at the house, I find her in the living room waiting for me. It's evident from her eyes that she has been crying a lot. I don't feel guilt or remorse because all that circulates in my mind is what kind of relationship she has or had with her friend, the neighbor.
"Hello," I greet her coldly.
"Hello, the prenuptial agreement is signed. Do you need another signature?" she asks with a bad attitude.
"We need to talk. Don't think that signing the agreement solves everything. I want you to explain right now what your 'friend' has proposed to you because I'm not foolish, and I realized that he's in love with you," I say seriously, sitting in front of her.
"You don't have to be jealous. We're just friends, and we've always been. I could never see him in any other way than as a friend. He's like an older brother to me. As for the proposal, he just said that if I'm not happy, he can help me find a job and take care of the baby," she says calmly, stroking her belly.
I don't know what to say to her. She seems too sure of what she's saying, but at the same time, I don't believe any of it.
She gets up from where she's sitting and moves to sit on my lap, bringing her mouth close to mine. I turn my face away to avoid the kiss, and that clearly upsets her.
"I don't understand what your problem is with my only friend. We're like siblings, and we shouldn't even be talking about this anymore," she finishes saying, annoyed, before leaving for the bedroom.
I say nothing. I keep everything that goes through my mind to myself. I watch her leave, and I don't follow her. Instead, I look at the prenuptial agreement and verify that it's signed. I will go and leave it with the lawyer and let them handle everything that comes next.
Without telling her, I leave to do anything but stay here. I truly feel like my life is just about survival, not living, and I don't want this for the rest of my life.
If only I wasn't expecting a child with him. Although I could be a present father without the need to be by her side as a couple. I've thought about this option quite a bit.
What stops me is that Paige doesn't want to be with me. Not knowing anything about her holds me back. I could search for her all over the world if necessary. I do it for her, and I'm tired of my life.
These thoughts have been consuming my mind all day lately. My desperation to stay by the side of a woman I don't love is driving me crazy.
Narrated by Emily:
Everything in my plan is progressing according to plan. While everyone believes the wedding will take place and be beautiful, the truth is that everything will be uncovered before the wedding.
Riley has been very distracted regarding the help she's providing me. She told me that something from her past is involved in the present and that's keeping her away from my plans.
Ethan, on the other hand, has been helping me with everything. He's even more involved in this than I am. He says he won't allow his friend to be unhappy because of an opportunist.
I'm on my way to talk to the doctor. I've already spoken to him and proposed that he provide me with information about Peyton. Initially, it was difficult to convince him, as he was reluctant to cooperate.
"Good morning, doctor," I greet him with a smile as I enter the consultation room.
"Good morning, Mrs. Emily," he responds nervously.
"How are you? I assume you haven't forgotten our agreement. That would be very unfortunate, as you would lose all your professional reputation due to a slip-up with Peyton," I say, inspecting my nails.
"I've made it clear what will happen if I don't fulfill my part. There's no need to repeat it. I've taken the necessary sample for the baby's DNA, and it wasn't easy," he says, sighing.
"I'm glad to know we're making progress. Now I need to know how long it will take to have the results," I demand, crossing my arms.
I should clarify that I don't like being this rude and malicious person. On the contrary, I'm very friendly, and people know that. In this case, I took on this attitude when I realized that this doctor is afraid of his wife, things that I discovered unintentionally.
Well, it wasn't me who discovered it; it was Ethan. Thanks to his advice, I'm like this with him, and it has worked to get what I need and expose that damn lying and self-interested woman.
"Before obtaining the results, I need you to give me the sample I asked for from your son, for comparison," he says nervously.
"Oh, how absent-minded of me. I apologize. Here it is. Now, how long will it take to get the results?" I ask again as I get up and grab my bag, ready to leave his office.
"The result is available within a period of 7 to 10 days. As soon as I have the report, I will call you to deliver it. You don't have to worry about that," the doctor tells me.
"Very well, then I'll await your call."
I go home, anxious to have the results. I don't care whose child it is, as long as it's not my son's, that's what matters most to me.
I return home, eager to continue my plan. My son becomes more unhappy every day, and you can tell just by looking at him. Meanwhile, that woman becomes happier with the things she buys, according to her, things necessary for her and the baby.
