Paying the taxi driver, She helped herself down from the car. Because of how pissed Mia was, She had absolutely no time to admire her surroundings. She walked into the luxurious building and approached the receptionist.
"Good afternoon. I'm here to see Colton Royal."
"Good afternoon, Ma'am. Your name, please?" The blondie said politely.
"Mia Edwards." She replied immediately.
After typing a couple of things on her computer, She replied. "I'm sorry ma'am, your name is not among the list of people he has an appointment with today so you can't see him."
Mia sighed internally. "This is urgent. Please can you call him and let him know Mia Edwards is here to see him?"
The receptionist shook her head. "I'm sorry I can't. I'm only allowed to grant entry to people with appointments."
"I promise you, ma'am, this is urgent. Literally a matter of life and death." Mia said, she couldn't afford to go back without seeing Colt, the liar.
"Who's living and who's dying?" A not-so-familiar voice came through.
"Good afternoon, Sir. She's requesting to see the Boss but she doesn't have an appointment with him." Katherine, the receptionist said.
Looking at where the voice came from, Mia saw a striking resemblance between the person standing before her and the one she had a one-night stand with. She swallowed painfully upon the realization that he must be related to Colton. Perhaps Colton's brother.
"You're here to see Colt?" He said to her,
"Yes!" She answered. Her voice came out more of a whisper.
"Your name?" He asked.
"Mia Edw...." She was saying, then he interrupted.
"Mia? Are you alright? Is the baby okay?" The concern was very much evident in his face and voice.
His reaction got Mia angrier, knowing Colton has told his whole family about something that isn't true.
"Wha...what do you mean?" She said, pretending not to know what he was talking about.
"You said it's a matter of life and death so you need to see Colton. Are you okay?"
"Please, just take me to your brother," Mia whispered before she lost it completely.
"Thanks, Kate, I'll take it from here," Caleb said to the receptionist, then led Mia to Colton's office. He was so tempted to ask her what the problem was but he controlled himself, figuring out that since she didn't respond the first time, it was best to take her to Colton. Besides, from her look, Caleb could tell that she was worried and also pissed. He didn't want to piss her off any further.
He made them take the private elevator and in no time, they were walking into Colton's floor. The most beautiful floor in the building. It had Colton's office, his secretary's desk area which was right outside his office, a conference room, a kitchen, restroom, and two other office spaces occupied by Caleb and one other staff member.
"I was told he was having a zoom meeting with our partners overseas the time I was heading downstairs. I don't know if he's done." Caleb said as they approached Colton's office.
Caleb was leading the way so he thought Mia was going to stop when he did. He stopped by the secretary's desk to ask if Colton was still in the meeting but Mia didn't stop with him. She figured out the big office a few steps away was Colton's office so she stormed in, not caring that this was an official environment and she was meant to knock before entering.
