Mia was having her morning coffee in her office when Hailey's call came through.
"Morning babe!" Hailey said.
"Morning sweets. You sound really excited today."
"Do I? Anyways, how was your date with Colton yesterday? I had wanted to call last night but I didn't want to disturb you."
"Hailey!" Mia groaned. "It wasn't a date! We just discussed."
"When did he take his leave?" Hailey asked suspiciously.
"About 10 pm I think," Mia said. She didn't take note of the exact time that Colton left. But she knew that after he left, she took a shower, and by the time she got into bed to set her alarm for this morning, she saw that it was almost 10:35 pm.
"So you both were together till 10 pm hun?!" Hailey teased.
"When will you stop thinking dirty, Hail? Neither of us planned for him to stay that long. We just lost track of time." She said truthfully.
"Lost track of time? No doubt you guys were being all lovey-dovey. I'm sure he didn't want to leave when it was 10."
"I didn't want him to leave either," Mia mumbled.
"Awwwww" Hailey cooed.
"What I mean is that he was a great conversationalist. I was enjoying his company and was even surprised that so much time had passed."
"I never expected him to feel comfortable in my home; my small and uncool apartment. I had expected him to be in a hurry to leave since he wasn't used to a less attractive environment but that wasn't the case."
"He was so free and normal with me. It was almost as if we were roommates. He also assisted me in making dinner."
"Awwww, Colton Royal in your kitchen. Even envisioning it sends chills down my spine. He's so into you, Mia."
Mia smiled, bringing her mug to her lips for a sip of her coffee. "He doesn't know how to cook at all which means I shouldn't expect breakfast in bed from him but he was able to help around by doing everything I asked him to do."
"You guys sound like a couple already. You should be happy Colt was able to help around. Enoch would never! He doesn't like any kitchen work."
"I don't think Colton is into that either. Not his fault tho, he's used to having people in charge of his food." Mia said.
"True! So what did you guys conclude? You both gonna get married?" Hailey asked.
Mia sighed. "Not anytime soon but it's okay to say we are together. I'll be moving in with him this weekend and we will see where our lives go from there. I made him promise that he would let go of me if I ever feel that things are not working out."
"That's reasonable. He seems like someone who is going to give his all to the relationship. I'll suggest you do the same and see how it goes."
"I know, I will. I just hope it's going to be worth it in the end because if there's anything I'm good at, it's making bad decisions."
"Just be positive, babe. Whatever will be will be."
"Did you discuss the motherboard stuff with him?; that you aren't mentally prepared."
"I did but he wasn't having it."
Hailey chuckled, "looks like I should start preparing myself to be a godmother. Papa bear isn't taking it easy with mama bear."
Mia rolled her eyes, trying to contain her blush. She still wasn't mentally prepared but she was hoping she would be able to convince Colton as time went on.
"I think I'm glad for you both and of course, I can't wait to officially meet Colt. I hope I don't melt away in his presence."
Mia chuckled. "Why would you want to melt away?"
"Well, not literally but don't you feel kind of intimidated when with him? We are talking about the sexiest man alive, the heir to the Royal empire!!!"
"I see him and treat him as a regular guy. Maybe that's why he likes me more. Besides, there's no point in being intimidated now. Not after everything we did the first time we met. Though, I still find it hard to believe he chose to want to be with me when he can have prettier women to himself."
"I'm sure he has met prettier people but they don't have what you have, babe. And that makes you the chosen one. Don't look down on yourself. If Colton wants to be with you, it's because you're worthy to be with him."
"Besides, I noticed something."
"What is it?" Mia asked.
"There's this aura that comes from you when you talk about Colton."
"There we go again!" Mia rolled her eyes. Hailey never fails to notice every little detail.
"I'm damn serious, Mia. You never talked so passionately about your exes. The worst of them was Christoph. All he ever did was make you worry and give you a hard time. I'm glad he's a thing of the past. You deserve better than him."
"I'm glad I'm totally over him."
"Yeah. I'm happier you're now with Colton. No better karma than moving from that horrible dude to a man who is every woman's dream. I wish you and Colton well and I hope things work out really great between you both."
"A part of me wishes so too. Because sometimes I think I don't know what I'm doing."
"Be positive babe, I see good things coming your way."
The two best friends talked some more before ending the conversation.
.......
It was almost lunch break when Mia received a call from Sandra, the receptionist, that someone named Natasha was here to see her.
"Natasha?" Mia reiterated, trying to recall if she knew anyone bearing that name.
"Yes, Natasha McGregor," Sandra said.
"I don't know who that is, but let her in." Mia ended the call.
Mia turned her attention back to her laptop as she waited for her unexpected guest to come in. She was waiting to hear a knock on her door but to her surprise, she heard someone badge into her office.
Raising her head, She came face to face with a furious-looking lady. A blondie who was just a bit taller than her, she was putting on gorgeous but revealing clothes.
............
Mia Edwards couldn't care less about why Natasha was looking like someone who was bitten in the ass, heaven knows she couldn't stand rude people.
"What was that for? You are coming to my office for the first time and you think it's proper to badge in?"
Natasha scanned through Mia's office with a look of distaste, then she turned her attention to Mia, giving her a disgusting look. "Who the hell are you and where did you come from?"
"Excuse me?" Mia was taken aback by that question. "Don't you think I should be the one asking you that? You badged in like a maniac and then you started talking to me anyhow, were you not taught any manners?"
"How dare you talk about manners? Where the fuck was your goddamn manners when you fucked my husband-to-be and got pregnant with some bastard child."
"Ohhh I see!" Mia nodded slowly, realizing she was the person Colton's parents wanted him to marry.
"Your husband-to-be? Show me the ring he gave you because I do not see anything on either of your fingers." Mia said with folded arms, staring at Natasha in disgust.
"Oh, he never presented you with any ring? Do you have proof of him promising to marry you? A video, a voice recording?"
"Look, I have so much work to do and I won't waste my precious time on someone like you. So please, get the hell out of my office."
Natasha's face became redder. Mia could almost see smoke coming out of her ear. "Who gave you the right to talk to me like that? How dare you disrespect me? You're poor, smelly, you work in a fucked up company, my dog, Wendy is even prettier than you and the rubbish baby growing in your belly. I can even bet that the child in you is not Colton's. You're just some tramp using him to your advantage and I don't know why Colton or his parents can't see this."
"For someone whose father's company is on the verge of bankruptcy, for someone who has no idea how to fend for herself, for someone who would never survive in this world without her parents' money, you sure have some guts to bully a hard worker"
"You can say whatever the hell you want to say to me, you can abuse me all you want but don't you dare say a thing about my unborn child. You should be ashamed for forcing yourself on someone that doesn't like you. Who would even want a nasty individual like you as a wife? Mrs. Royal must be so disappointed in her supposed daughter-in-law."
"Just shut the fuck up!!!" Natasha was fuming in anger. "I didn't come here to exchange words with you because I don't relate with low-life individuals like you. I came to make it clear to you to stay away from Colton. Don't you dare get married to him. I don't care what you do. Say NO to him, Go on exile, get rid of yourself and the baby, I really do not fucking care, just don't get married to my man!!!!"
"And if you turn deaf ears against my warning and get married to my baby, I'm going to make your life a living hell. You and that bastard child of yours. You all will never know anything called happiness in that marriage. It's up to you to see I'm making empty threats. Just get married to Colt and you will see doom fall on you!"
"And don't think I'll let you go scot-free for talking to me anyhow. Be prepared for what's coming your way. You will regret ever messing with me!!!" Natasha said, then stormed out of Mia's office.
Mia stood in shock, staring at the exit, wondering what the hell just happened. After a couple of seconds, She slowly sat back on her chair. She helped herself with half a glass of water that was on her desk and tried to go back to work but she couldn't concentrate.
For some unknown reason, Natasha's last statements kept replaying in her head and it scared her, knowing people as desperate as Natasha could do anything when they are obsessed with a particular person.
Realizing that it was better to choose peace over Violence, realizing she didn't want to be stuck in a wealthy family's circle where she will have to live in fear all her life, She wasn't pregnant yet but if she eventually got pregnant, she couldn't afford to live in fear of someone showing up at any time to hurt her baby, Mia decided that being with Colton was not a good idea so it was best to put an end to whatever it is that was between them.
