Stepping into her office, Mia came face to face with the one and only Victoria Royal who was comfortably seated on the visitor's chair. She felt a little difference with regards to the atmosphere and she was sure it was due to Victoria's presence.
Mia's office was of normal size, warm, neat, and decorated with just a few pieces of furniture. Usually, visitors had no business in her office if she wasn't present but they made an exception for Vicky.
"Thank Goodness you're finally here. I didn't know how much longer I could wait for you." Vicky's voice came through. Mia couldn't help but think about how a person's voice could emanate such power even though she spoke so calmly. Vicky was indeed a royal.
Taking a good look at her, Mia noticed that Victoria looked even more beautiful in real life. She knew the woman before her should be somewhere in her mid-fifties but she could swear that Vicky was looking way younger than that. She was also looking really gorgeous in her expensive attire.
"Good day ma. How may I help you?" Mia said as she approached her desk even though she was sure as hell that Victoria was here to see another person and not her.
"Why do I get the feeling that you're pretending not to know me," Vicky said.
"I...I don't understand you ma. Everyone knows you as Mrs. Royal and this is the first time I'm meeting you. Ma, are you sure it's me you want to see or someone else? My Boss's office is down the hallway." She said,
"Why put up all of these acts? Did Colton talk you to it?" Vicky asked, starting to get annoyed.
"Colton?" Mia frowned.
Victoria massaged her temple. "I thought I had seen it all with Colton but it turns out that you both are the same or should I say you're even worse?"
"Look ma'am I think there's a mix-up. I have no idea who Colton is."
Victoria rose to her feet "Aren't you Mia Edwards?"
"I'm Mia Edwards." She answered immediately.
"You've been having an affair with my son and you're pregnant for him. Since you haven't started showing, I guess you are still in your first trimester." She said, taking a glance at Mia's still flat belly through her deep blue dress.
"What????" Mia said in horror.
"You're surprised that I'm aware? Do you and Colton take me and my husband for a fool? Do you think we will never find out?"
"You met Colt at a club didn't you? Even though you guys were wasted that night, don't you know you should always keep yourself protected by being on the pill or something?"
Mia was about to say something but Victoria stopped her. "I don't want to hear whatever rubbish you have to say. Because of you, my son can't get married to the person we want him to spend the rest of his life with."
"I came here to see you not because I have nothing better to do but to set things straight with you. First of all, I don't like you. My son never had any reason to keep anything away from me until he met you. I hope you don't continue to be a bad influence on him and most importantly, on my Grandchild."
"Even though I don't like you, I have no choice but to tolerate you because you're the mother of my Grandchild. There's no need for you to pretend that you like me because I know you don't. From now on, our relationship will be based on formality and respect. You respect me, and I'll respect you too."
"Judging by your looks, you seem innocent but really, you're just the other way around. I'm so disappointed, most especially in that son of mine. He did all he could to make sure I don't get access to you but he forgot that I have my ways too."
As confused and shocked as Mia was, She wanted to say something but Victoria glared at her. "I have no idea what you and Colton have been planning or discussing behind our backs but I want to make certain things clear to you."
"Nothing must happen to my grandchild or else I will hold you and Colton responsible and you both will pay dearly for it. That being said, if you both were planning on harming the baby, you know what to do now."
"My grandchild wasn't conceived in the best way thinkable but that doesn't mean he or she will be deprived of all the luxuries a Royal baby should get. With regards to that, I made a promise to Colton's grandmother and anyone that knows me knows that I always keep my word."
"That being said, You and Colton will be getting married. My grandchild will not be born out of wedlock or be subjected to custody battles or having parents who live separately."
"Get in touch with Colton. You both should set a date and let us know when exactly you want to do the wedding. I've always dreamt of having a very big and loud wedding for all of my children but I'll respect your wishes; If you want a small wedding, So be it."
"I'll advise that the wedding be done as soon as possible because of media talks and rumors. Things will be pretty hard if they get to know that you got pregnant before the wedding. I can tell that you are not that far along so you should make good use of the opportunity."
"Finally, please take good care of yourself. I'm not only saying this because you're carrying my grandchild. I know I made it clear earlier that I don't like you but that doesn't mean I hate you and I don't wish you well."
"I hope my son has been owning up to his responsibility; taking care of you and also accompanying you to your Doctor's appointment? Let me know if he's not fulfilling his duties so I can talk some senses into his head."
"I even doubt you are seeing our family doctor as you should," Vicky said. She was sure as hell that it wasn't their family Doctor that was taking care of her because Richard would have informed her if he was the one. Suddenly, the thought of another Doctor being in charge of her Grandchild's welfare didn't sit well with her.
"I know you've got your own life, you probably have a Doctor you're already seeing for checkups and all of that but you will have to bear with me on this one. I'm very protective of what's mine and it's safe to say that I want what's best for you and my grandbaby and that includes receiving the best health care from the best doctors. I'll have Richard contact you. He will take over from where your doctor left off."
"You live alone don't you?" Victoria asked. At this point, Mia couldn't even answer any questions. She was too confused and shocked to respond to anything.
When she didn't answer, Victoria continued talking. "This is a very delicate time for you and you need to be with someone. Colton should have insisted that you move in with him. I won't fuss over that since you both will soon be married."
Victoria opened her purse, took out her contact card, and placed it on Mia's desk. "Here's my number in case you need anything. I will be waiting to hear from you and Colton with regards to the wedding date. Enjoy the rest of your day!" Vicky said, then helped herself out of the office.

The moment Victoria exited the office, Mia absentmindedly plopped down on her chair, not really understanding what just happened. Replaying the conversations on her head, she tried to make sense out of everything Vicky said.
"Who the hell is Colton?" She whispered furiously. From the conversation, it was clear that Colton was Vicky's son but Mia was confused as to what he had to do with her when she had never met him or had anything to do with him.
Mia was about to justify herself of never being involved in a one-night stand when she remembered the one she had a week ago.
"Holy Shitt!" She whispered, running a hand through her hair. She decided to let them down today instead of her usual ponytail.
"No. That was definitely not Colton Royal." She tried to convince herself with regards to the stranger she had a passionate night with.
"The person I met that night was calm, understanding, and would never say rubbish about me before his mother or anyone else. Mrs. Royal was probably mistaken." She assured herself but still, she didn't feel at ease.
Mia took out her phone from her bag, unlocked it, went straight to the browser, and typed in 'Colton Royal.' Almost immediately, she came face to face with the shock of her life. Her big blue eyes almost popped out of their socket seeing that Colton was the sexy stranger she spent the night with a week ago.
In shock, Mia crashed on her chair, asking herself how it was even possible. She couldn't believe she had a fling with the heir of Royal empire.
"How could you be so foolish not to recognize him?" She mumbled to herself, slightly massaging her forehead. But then, Mia couldn't really blame herself for not knowing that it was him. She wasn't someone that cared about famous people, enough to know how they looked. Even though she was an editor, her work was limited to the word content of articles and not the pictures that come along with whatever ended up being published.
"But why the hell did he come up with such a big lie about me? We didn't even have sex!" She said furiously. Mia tried not to get emotional as a thought crossed her mind. She remembered telling him about her life problems that night. If he could say such rubbish to his parents, She was damn sure her secret wasn't safe with him.
"Only God knows how many people he has told my pathetic story to. I'm so foolish. I trust people too easily. And to think of how much I made a fool of myself the other night." She groaned.
Another thought crossed her mind. "I only told him my first name. I never mentioned my workplace. How the hell did he locate me?"
"I've always been a calm person but not anymore. All the men in my life have treated me like a piece of shit and I endured but I won't stand some person trampling on my integrity just because I opened up to him in a state of vulnerability. I won't be manipulated by some brat who lives off his family's money. I'm going to fight for myself and most importantly teach him a lesson!" Mia rose to her feet, reached for her purse on the table, and stormed out of the office.
She didn't have a car anymore so she hailed a taxi and headed for Royal Empire Headquarters.
