The plan was that Mia was going to babysit Adrienne but when Hailey heard that Colton was going to come over later, Hailey decided to take the little girl with her. She wanted Mia and Colton to have some privacy while they discussed their future.
Colton eventually showed up at 4 pm. He was right on time. Mia opened the door for him, they both exchanged polite greetings, then She ushered him in.
Locking the door behind her, Mia was thinking of how she was going to start the conversation with Colton. She was the one who invited him over so the burden was on her.
Turning around, she bumped into a hard well. Well, not a wall per se, She bumped into Colton. She had no idea he was standing behind her as she locked the door.
Using the situation to his advantage, Colton possessively wrapped his arms around Mia's waist. He had a small smile on his face.
"W...wh..what are you doing?" She whispered as she looked into his eyes, ignoring the shivers that ran down her spine due to their closeness.
"Cuddling with my woman. Is there any problem with that?" He said without a care in the world.
Mia swallowed painfully. "You should let go before someone sees us."
Colton arched his brow. "Didn't you just lock the door?"
Mia mentally facepalmed. She was obviously not thinking straight.
"Are you ashamed of me? You don't want me to be seen around with you?" He couldn't help but ask.
"No, that's not what I mean, It's just going to take time to get used to you."
"Does that mean you've agreed to be mine?" He said with a big smile.
Mia rolled her eyes at his excitement.
"Is that a YES?" He asked her.
"Why me, Colt? There are thousands of women who would be willing to be your wife and even carry your child. I legit found out a few hours ago that you're the sexiest man alive. Me, on other hand, I'm nowhere near beautiful. I'm just some regular girl who works in an average magazine company. I have no talent, I'm not even interesting to be with. Why would you want to associate yourself with me?"
"I really don't know what people see in me that they voted me the sexiest man. I honestly see myself as a regular guy. Never have I looked down on people because I know it's a privilege for me to be born into the Royal family."
"I have chosen you because we have a connection between us and I believe we owe it to ourselves to explore whatever it is. I don't want you to ever look down on yourself. You're the most beautiful woman I've ever laid my eyes on; you're smart, you're strong, you're a hard worker, you care so much about the people around you, You're interesting to be with and I'm judging based on our encounter at the hotel. Unknowingly, you were able to capture my heart. Not anyone can take up the job of an editor, babe. I'm proud of you and all of your achievements. You should be proud too."
"I'm not used to living a glamorous life. The world holds you to a high standard and they have high expectations from you. You need someone of a similar status to be by your side. Trust me, I hate attention. I may work in the media but I'm not used to being the center of attention."
Colton raised Mia's chin with one of his fingers so their eyes could meet as he spoke. "I'm my own person. The world doesn't decide my future and never will I please people to my disadvantage. My happiness and peace of mind matter to me more than what the world thinks of me. The hardest part of our relationship would have been my family accepting you but they've accepted you already. I couldn't care less what the public thinks about us."
"With regards to the glamorous life I live, I'm sorry I have no control over that. You just have to get used to it. But I promise you that the media doesn't mess with us so you don't need to worry about your privacy."
Mia sighed. She got out of Colton's hold and went over to the living area. She plopped down on her sofa. Colton joined her, taking a seat opposite her.
"Your family only accepted me because they think I'm carrying your baby. Your mother hates me beyond words. She didn't hide it the day she came to confront me. She promised to put up with me because she thought there's a baby. Look, Colt, motherhood is a whole lot and I'm not mentally prepared for that stage."
The duo were silent for a minute before Colton eventually spoke. "My mom is the nicest out of us all. I'm not saying it because I'm her son. Outsiders who really know us can testify to this. I guess she only freaked out because I wouldn't get to marry the woman of her choice. I have no doubt you and her will get along eventually. She doesn't know how to stay mad at people for long."
"Have you ever dreamt of becoming a mom?" He asked with a serious tone.
"Of course!" She answered, wondering why he was asking that.
"Did you ever decide what time or age you want to have your own child?" He asked.
"I never really thought about that," She replied honestly.
"When I made mention of wanting you to carry my child, I had no intention of forcing myself on you. I was just confident that we won't be able to resist ourselves for long. And when that happens, there will be no pulling out, or being on pills. We will let nature take its course. If we conceive, we are going to embrace it."
"Are you for real?" Mia whispered in disbelief.
"What's the difference between I'm not mentally prepared and what you just said?"
"I think I was fair enough with what I said. You're free to call me selfish for wanting to have a child with you so bad. There's time to get mentally prepared for when we get pregnant." He said. He was going to be 34 soon and she would be 27 in a few days. He felt they were capable of raising their own baby.
Mia threw Colton a deadly glare.
"Forgive me, I always make sure I get what I want."
She rolled her eyes at him. "You're so full of yourself, Colton. There's no way I would ever allow you to touch me."
"We shall see about that, Babe." He smirked.
She scoffed. "I hate the fact that you're so confident about it. I would do anything to wipe that smirk off your face."
"Once we are married we will practically be together and do everything together, including sleeping on the same bed. That being said, I have to be confident."
Mia frowned. "There are no guest rooms?"
"There is but there's no way we are going to be in different rooms."
"Aren't you going to consider my privacy?" She asked.
"We are one already so there's nothing like privacy."
"I hate you so much." She mumbled, looking away.
"I was able to get in touch with Richard before he could reach out to you. We spoke on my drive to your place and I told him what he needed to know. There's no baby for now but we will visit him in the future for checkups and all of that."
"You think he won't tell your parents the truth?"
Colton shook his head. "He may be our family doctor but he respects everybody's privacy. I also told him not to mention anything to my parents so there's nothing to worry about."
"I know my family will eventually find out the truth about the union. You don't have to worry because I'm going to take the blame for everything but I'm hoping that by then, things will be official between us, we will be so deeply in love and we will probably have our first child with us. With that, my family won't even care about the lies I've told." Colt said.
"I should call my Dad now that you're here." She was about to stand up to go pick up her phone when Colton stopped her by holding her hand.
Before Mia knew it, She was sitting on Colton's lap. He held onto her possessively, with the duo looking deeply into each other's beautiful eyes.
"Thank you. I know this is a big step you're taking for me and I promise that you won't regret it."
"You have to promise me something." She said,
"What is it?"
"You will let go of me whenever I want to even if it's not up to a year as you've promised"
"Noted." He said immediately.
"I didn't mean to tell my Dad about you. It just happened so don't mention anything about the wedding or any false pregnancy. I'll probably tell my brothers the same story I told my Dad but I'll have to tell the truth to my sister."
"With regards to the wedding, Do we really have to get married now? I can always move in with you and we can act as engaged couples. Getting married so soon will only make my family suspicious. I understand your family is insisting on marriage because they don't want the baby to be born out of wedlock but since there's no baby, can't we just get rid of the marriage idea for now?"
"I'll talk to my family about it. I'll make them know the wedding will happen in a few months."
Mia nodded, making a mental note to insist on a small wedding when the time came.
Getting out of Colton's hold, she went in search of her phone. Mia came back in no time, She dialed her father's number and after exchanging pleasantries, She made him know that Colton was by her side.
She handed the phone to him and watched as he conversed with her father. He was very polite and didn't even seem nervous. They spoke for a while before Colton handed Mia back the phone. She spoke to her Dad some more and they said their goodbyes.
"So what did you guys talk about?" She couldn't help but ask. Mia was able to pick up some of their conversation from Colton's response but for the most part, she saw Colt listening to what her father was saying from the other end. She wanted to know what her Dad said to him.
"He told me how precious you are to him and that I should take very good care of you or I will have him and your brothers to deal with. He said he hasn't really approved of me but he will be watching me based on how I treat you. He also said he cannot wait to see me when he comes to New York. But he really emphasized that I should take great care of you."
Mia nodded. She wasn't surprised. Her Dada was very protective of her.
Colton intertwined his hand with hers. "Now that I have your Father's blessing, when do you want us to go visit my grandparents in Greece?"
