Between Four of Us

Chapter 30

Ch. 30 / 250 Jun 22, 2025

As the clock struck midnight, Camille, Matthew, Noah, Leo, and Evelyn crept beneath the bridge, shadows enveloping them like a thick fog. The air was charged with tension, their hearts pounding in synchrony as they scanned the darkened area for any sign of the mysterious figure who had sent the ominous message.

“Where are they?” Leo whispered, glancing around nervously. “This doesn’t feel right.”

“Maybe we should call the police,” Noah suggested, his voice low. “We can’t just stand here.”

“No,” Camille said, shaking her head. “We need to find out who’s behind this. If it’s someone we can trust, we can’t risk them getting away.”

Just as they were about to debate their next move, a figure emerged from the shadows, staggering into view. Camille’s heart raced as she squinted into the darkness.

“Mom?” she called out, her voice trembling.

As the figure drew closer, Camille’s breath caught in her throat. It was her mother, Evelyn, her clothes torn and blood streaming down her face, painting a horrifying picture against the night sky.

“Mom!” Camille yelled, rushing forward. Panic surged through her as she reached her mother, who stumbled and fell to her knees, collapsing onto the cold ground.

“Mom, what happened?” Camille cried, kneeling beside her, frantically brushing her hair back from her face. The sight of her mother in distress shattered Camille’s composure.

“Camille….” Evelyn gasped, her voice shaky and weak. “Your dad… don’t trust your dad!”

“What do you mean? What happened?” Camille’s heart raced, confusion and fear flooding her system. The rest of the group gathered around, their expressions a mix of shock and concern.

“Mom, please! You need to tell us!” Matthew urged, kneeling next to Camille.

But before Evelyn could respond, she fainted, her body crumpling to the ground like a rag doll.

“Mom!” Camille screamed, panic surging through her. “No, no, no! Please wake up!”

“Noah, check her vitals!” Matthew ordered, urgency in his voice.

Noah knelt beside her mother, placing his fingers on Evelyn’s wrist. “She’s alive, but we need to get her out of here. Fast!”

Leo looked around, scanning the darkness. “We need to get her to a hospital. This isn’t safe.”

Camille’s mind raced. “What did she mean? What did she know about Dad?”

“Camille, we’ll figure it out,” Matthew said, his eyes steady. “Right now, we have to focus on getting your mom help.”
