Third person's POV
Derek sat in his chair, his fingers tapping lightly on the armrest. "Go on, tell me how many attacks you've launched in total."
"The task he gave me was to kill Kirian, but then you hid him, and I couldn't find an opportunity. So he told me to find a way to kill Tabitha. After the Black Wolf Guild's attack, he became more vigilant. I never found a chance to act. Until he suddenly contacted me, asking me to tamper with the car, trying to stage an accident. You know the rest. I sensed something was off and set up this trap in the abandoned factory by the sea."
After Black Fox finished, Rolf stepped forward and punched him in the chest. "You've said a lot, but it's all bullshit. Don't make me get rough with you. Tell us the important part. Who is he?"
A trace of blood ran from the corner of Black Fox's mouth. "It's not that I don't want to say, he's just too cautious. I've never seen his face. We usually contact each other by phone. But he uses a voice changer, so I can't tell if it's a man or a woman, an old person or a child."
"If you don't know his identity, you must know how to contact him."
Derek stroked his wedding ring. "You noticed my people were following you. How did you contact him? Don't tell me you don't know. I don't have the patience to play games with you."
"Usually, he contacts me. He always used unrecognizable phone numbers that couldn't be traced. If I need to contact him, I follow the method he told me before and reach out to another intermediary."
"Who is it?"
Black Fox seemed reluctant to reveal this person, as doing so would break the rules of their trade.
"I'll tell you, but can you guarantee my brother's safety? He's ruthless, and if you can find my brother, so can he."
"Alright, I promise you. Who is the intermediary?"
"Adrian Jordan, the manager of the Golden Night Casino. He's probably also a member of the North Star. North Star mercenaries are all over the world, working in various professions. Many of them top in their fields, like lawyers and doctors, making them hard to detect."
"Besides this intermediary, I need more information on this person. His name?"
"I only know his codename. Bloodrose."
"How can I meet him?"
"He's very mysterious. In the years I've known him, I've never seen him in person. He contacts either by phone or through Adrian."
"Alright, bring Adrian out, then. If you accomplish this, I'll ensure your brother lives a safe and prosperous life. He'll enjoy all the wealth and peace."
In the dark of the night, insects murmured in the grass.
Tabitha sat on a swing in the courtyard, surrounded by blooming flowers that emitted a faint glow under the night lights.
It had been several days since Derek's phone call, and there had been no news from him since.
Although she knew he was alive, she couldn't help but worry.
Phoebe and Zander were running rampant in the villa. Andrea stayed shut in her room, and Tabitha was also caught in a state of anxiety.
She kept her phone with her 24/7, afraid to miss Derek's call.
Looking at the layers of dark clouds covering the moonlight, casting a gloomy shadow, she felt very oppressed.
Rubbing her increasingly painful stomach, Tabitha felt that her pain might not be simple indigestion.
Perhaps it was due to excessive worry and tension that the pain had become more frequent, and even painkillers couldn't suppress it.
Tomorrow was Alpha Elliott's birthday banquet. According to the agreement, he would announce Zander's identity at the party.
This was very unfavorable for Derek.
Would Derek come back tomorrow?
Lost in thought, a man's breath sounded in her ear. "Tabitha, are you still awake so late? Are you waiting for me?"
