Alpha's Little Miracle

Chapter 40

Ch. 40 / 127 Aug 27, 2025

LUCIEN'S POV.

I immediately turned back into my house, locking the door. What the hell was Monica doing in my street? How did she get to choose this place in all the unoccupied houses in New Orleans?

Then I clenched my fists as I began to suspect it for what it was. It had been planned, and Angelou was definitely in on it. Whether or not she had deliberately made it to New Orleans, I knew she coming to live as a neighbor was definitely deliberate. Did she think I'd ever look at her? Did she think I was going to fall in love with her or pronounce her as my mate if I saw her on a daily basis?

I called women like her leeches because they stuck on so hard, refusing to leave unless certain measures were taken against them, and that was very annoying. I thought I had escaped her by leaving her domain, who knew she'd follow me all the way to where I lived?

A low snarl left me and I went back out the door, locking it securely. People like her were the type who would happily break into someone's house once they had their way in.

"Oh my God!" She squealed, and I turned around. "Oh my, heavens! You live here? But… but you didn't tell me you live in New Orleans! Oh my God! This is fate!" She ranted, walking towards me. "This is definitely not a coincidence. We end up in New Orleans and on the same street. It is a total pleasure to meet you!" She rambled on, as she held out her hand, but I stuck my hands in my pockets.

"Your being here was a coincidence?" I asked, raising a brow and she blinked then took back her hand.

"Yes, and it translates into fate. And you know what fate means for beings like us?" She asked, pointing to her chest. "It means mate." She added dramatically, and burst out laughing.

"Mate? I think so too, just not the way you think it to be." I told her coldly and walked past her.

"I like it." I heard her say, and stopped. "You were so courteous back at home, but now you're real, you're your real self. I like it because it means I have a chance… I mean a chance to be a close friend. That way I'll know when I'm getting to my destination." She added, but I simply walked away.

It was messed up. Really messed up.

ADRIA'S POV

I tried to scream but not a single sound came out of me, but then, I recognized the scent and relaxed, shocked but slowly filling up with happiness.

"How have you been, pretty?" Lucien asked, close to my ear, and I smiled as he let go of my mouth. I turned around and threw my hands around his neck, holding him tightly like he was going to leave again. He hugged me back and I sniffed in his lovely scent. He was back—back to me.

Then I released him and hit him hard.

"Why would you scare me like that!?" I asked, although I was trying hard not to smile.

"I wanted to see if you'd recognize me easily and I also wanted to hear you scream so we could laugh about it later." He said, staring into my eyes with so much love, and I screamed.

"Mission accomplished. You heard me scream." I told him, and he laughed. It was so good to hear him laugh once more.

"It's so good to see you, Adria." He said with so much sincerity that my heart started to pound faster than normal.

"I think I missed you more than you missed me. You look like you've been resting a lot." I told him pushing back his hair.

"I can't even tell if you rested or not because rest or not, you always look beautiful just like you do right now." He said, and I laughed.

"What's up with you?' I blushed, hitting his shoulder.

"Honestly, where I went to, there were no beautiful girls to feast my eyes on, so I guess I'm going to be staring at you for a while." He added seriously as he took my hands and I couldn't help blushing crazily.

"Oh come on!" I squealed, walking past him and he followed only for me to turn back and walk towards the trash I had abandoned earlier. I picked it up and ran to abandon it in its proper place.

Then I walked back to Lucien.

"How could you spend two days? You have to tutor me for those missed days!" I snapped, walking past him and he laughed once more.

"My pleasure." He replied, and I ran into my house, picked a sticky note from my sticky note pad and scribbled a message for my mum.

*Will be back soon. Going for lessons*

"Alright. Now it's time for tutoring me." I told him.

On the way to his house, we talked more about his journey although he seemed a little uncomfortable in talking about it. He bought textbooks for me since I had forgotten to take books and when we got to his house, I ran to his sofa and plopped down on it.

"I really don't want us to study.” He complained as he went to the kitchen to fix us tea.

"Come on. I'm behind on my studies because there's some wack teacher in your place." I replied him and flipped through the pages of one of the textbooks we purchased at the bookstore. "Woah! What's the name of this textbook." I exclaimed in awe, closing it and checking its name.

"Why? It's good?" He asked, turning towards me.

"Freaking good!" I squealed. "It has detailed explanations. This is something that even you doesn't emphasize on during class. Should I say a textbook is better than you?" I teased, placing my finger on my chin.

"What? You're wrong. It's Judy a textbook." He shot back and I stood up, walking towards him.

"Written by a human." I completed and he rolled his eyes, turning back to his tea making and I giggled. Just then, the bell rang, and instead of walking towards him, I turned towards the door. "I'll get it." I said.

"Alright." He replied, and when I opened the door, I was faced by a girl who's beauty struck me hard.

Who… who was she? Why was she looking at me like she was also thinking what I as thinking?

Was she there to see Lucien?
