MONICA’S POV.
There was no way a man would reject a woman who looked as alluring, and vulnerable as I did at that moment. What was my plan? Not much. Just the usual prank stuff. Act like I was scared so I would get to stay in his room. It was a trick I had done countless times and succeeded at.
Once the men saw me with my nightgown and nothing else and also looking as scared as hell, they won’t be able to refuse me. I would spend the night there and carry out my pre-planned episodes and of course it would end in making sweet love. Alpha Lucien would not be able to resist me.
I bided my plan and waited patiently, glancing at the clock occasionally and waiting for midnight before I did my whole routine of massaging myself with scented oils and mixing perfumes once more.
I was going to wake him with the scent of roses. The halls were quiet as I walked through them silently and barefoot, making my way steadily to the guest rooms. Since I had no idea which room he stayed in, I simply checked room by room until I spotted him in one of the rooms laying fast asleep. The door pushed open silently at my touch and I stepped in, closing it just as silently behind me.
A smile formed on my face. I was about to sleep with the almighty Lucien who had done so many great things that made all the girls in the surrounding Kingdoms pine for him and hope he was their mate. I was about to sleep with the love I had waited so long for. How sweet would it be for all those girls to hear he was mine and that they wouldn’t be getting anywhere near him.
I turned around to walk stealthily to his bed only to find him standing already with his hands in his pockets. The grip of fear in my heart pushed me to back the door and I closed my eyes tight as I held my breath.
It was only after seconds that I released my breath slowly and at the same time opened my eyes slowly.
“May I ask what you’re doing in my room, Miss Monica?”
“Call me Monica please. Only my maids call me that.” I corrected immediately and he raised a brow.
“Then may I ask…”
“Can I call you Lucien too? I have a feeling we’ll make great friends and…” I said stepping up my game as I walked towards him seductively playing with my fingers, holding them directly underneath my breasts.
“Call me whatever you like but first explain what you’re doing in my room at such an unholy hour.” He said, bringing out his phone. It flashed open as he showed to me and I saw it was fourteen minutes past midnight.
“Ohh. I was wondering if we could talk…”
“Talk?” He interrupted looking at me like he wasn’t sure I was fine upstairs. Oh my! That sparked a flame of anger in me, but I had to cool down if I wanted to achieve my goal.
“Well, this has never happened but I suddenly have dreams about vampires and those… those creatures that you fought and conquered. It’s because you’re here. I suddenly have all this scary nightmares about those creatures flooding the castle and it’s… it’s… God, it’s scary. I… I can’t stay alone.” I said, lacing my voice with the sweetness only honey possessed.
“With all due respect, you can’t stay here.” He said flatly and my hands dropped from where they were playing underneath my breasts to dangle at my sides.
“Hm?”
“I can’t sleep with a stranger in the room.” He said, and I let out a light scoff.
“I’m having bad dreams because of you.”
“It’s all in your mind. I doubt a lady your age would still be scared of nightmares even after she wakes up, and it’s quite indecent for an unmarried woman to stay the night with a man dressed like that. This looks rather like a clumsy attempt at seduction to me and it would be an offense if it is, so I’ll just assume you’re a little thoughtless as you’re the only daughter of your father. If you’ll excuse me, we can talk about those nightmares of yours tomorrow.” He said, walking towards and past me, and flinging the door open.
Was he… was he…?
Gosh! Was he pushing me out?
Oh my… Ha! No way. There was no way he noticed I was there to seduce him and took it lightly. Shouldn’t he play along? We both wanted the same thing or was that not what he wanted? What the heck was wrong with him?
I stood transfixed to my spot staring at his bed and he waited patiently. After a full minute, I turned to him slowly and he raised a brow and tilted his head towards the open door.
“Uh… uh, um… You know what? I’m sorry. This… this has never happened before like I explained earlier so I… I admit I might have been a little thoughtless there. I apologize… Lucien.” I said, but he only tilted his head towards the door once more and my pride was crushed. My cheeks heated up as I turned and stepped out of his room and after giving a glance the expression of which I couldn’t read, he closed the door gently.
I had never felt so crushed in all my life. Why did he have to be so arrogant and charismatic at the same time? How… how did he know how to play chess with my heart, making it beat the way he wanted. My hand went to my chest where a thud had started and I smiled.
If he could resist me, me who no man had ever resisted, then I was safe. It meant no woman would ever be able to get to him, no woman would ever be able to seduce him and when I finally got my hands on him, he would be extremely loyal. He would turn out every other woman the way he had turned me out. He was priceless. He was exactly what I wanted.
A man who would be only mine.
