ADRIA’S POV
I felt Monica was wrong because I had never seen Lucien drinking blood and he had never told me anything about having to drink blood. Even in the novels and movies, werewolves were never known to drink blood, only vampires drank blood.
“Wolves are such scary creatures. They shouldn’t be trusted. They lure those little girls at the perfect time, collect their blood and send those girls home and those girls don’t know their lives are getting destroyed.” She continued, but I shook my head firmly.
“I think you’re confusing the two creatures together. Vampires and wolves may share certain similarities but they are very different. Wolves do not drink blood.” I insisted and she gave a frustrated sigh.
“Do you mean to tell me my granny lies? She doesn’t lie. She always says the truth and she met one in her days. That’s why she knows so much about them.” She said aggressively and I stopped in my tracks.
“Why are you getting annoyed. I think it’s my choice to believe whatever I want to believe. You don’t have to force it on me. I haven’t seen a wolf drinking blood yet so maybe when I see one then I’ll believe you. Maybe your granny met a vampire, we never know because how come not a single person wrote a novel about werewolves drinking blood? Have you seen a wolf in the forest drinking blood? They eat flesh.” I countered, getting a little annoyed that she was trying to force me to take her opinion and make it mine.
“They eat flesh. Isn’t that enough to be scared of them? They are carnivores animals.”
“I believe if there are werewolves, they must have adjusted to the way things are. They’re probably enjoying modern food like steak, venison, beef, pizza, toast and other things we enjoy.”
“What makes you so sure?”
“Hey, it’s not like we’re meeting a werewolf or something. They’re just creatures in novels okay, so it doesn’t matter whatever I believe about them. I believe they’re half wolf and half human so they definitely have some human traits in them.” I shot back and she bit her lip, closing her eyes tight.
“I’m sorry. I’m just… if you ever meet a werewolf, don’t trust them. Rather, you should run from them. I think I’ll go on my own from here.” She suddenly said, and walked off.
“What was all that about?” I muttered, not understanding why she would be so aggressive in her opinion.
Then my phone rang. It was Stacy. A smile lit my face and I picked it.
“I’m done with classes. Was about to call you minutes ago.” I said, pushing my other hand into my pockets.
“I thought you had forgotten about us and was about to walk off with Monica.” She said, and I looked around wondering if she was seeing me at the moment.
“I wasn’t.” I said, still with my head whipping around, then I saw her walking towards me and with her were Tommy and Daniel.
I felt so happy just by seeing them and I ran to the boys, throwing my hands around their shoulders.
“Are you done forgetting about us?” Tommy asked, and I giggled.
“I never forgot about you guys. Now, let’s go grab popcorn!” I squealed, pulling the guys along.
“Hey, you won’t pull me?” Stacy asked jealously and I ran to her and pulled her forward.
On our way to the cinema, the boys bought snacks and we began to eat on the road like children.
“Did you know there was a library with a secret blind date spot?’ I asked her, and she turned on me sharply.
“God, don’t tell me you’ve gone there! There are some really handsome guys there!” She exclaimed with her eyes extra-shiny and a squeezed up paper hit her head.
“Why do you get so hyper when boys are mentioned?” Daniel asked and he and Tommy laughed.
“Oh come on. You guys haven’t been there yet. These guys look like they fell from heaven.” Stacy exaggerated and I burst into laughter.
“Do their so called good looks beat Daniel’s?” Tommy asked, and I and him shook our heads.
“What? They are definitely way more handsome.” Stacy said looking at us like we had lost it.
“Oh come on. We’re two, you’re one.” I pointed out, and she scoffed.
“Wait till I snag one of them and he asks me out.” She muttered, and the three of us laughed at her.
In the movie theater, the four of us sat together enjoying chilled drinks and bags of popcorn, watching a comic movie.
“But then don’t you think that guy looks like Professor Lucien?” Stacy asked, pointing at the guy in the movie and I shook my head violently.
“No way. Professor Lucien is way more handsome. Can’t you see this guy’s brows? They’re too thick, too bushy and his forearms are too hairy. Who would want that? You?” I asked, poking her shoulder and she slapped mine.
“Yuck. I’m just trying to point out that he’s handsome.” She said smiling.
“Still, he can never be compared to Professor Lucien. If professor Lucien were to be in a movie then this movie would blow across the continent.” I remarked, and the boys started to clear their throats rather noisily so I could hear.
“Daniel, this is what falling in love sounds like.” Tommy said to Daniel, pretending to be talking about the movie.
“Yeah, it sounds like biased and exaggerated opinions.” Daniel replied, and Stacy laughed.
“You guys are the only ones who think so.” She added, and I hit the guys.
“Oh, come on. I don’t have feelings for…” I was saying but couldn’t complete my sentence.
“Aren’t you such a pretty little liar?’ Tommy asked and I gave a loud sigh.
“The movie’s going on. See, Charlie got a proposal from Janette.” I pointed out and they immediately turned back their gazes to the screen. Then a notification sounded on my phone and I saw that it was a text message.
I opened it and was quite shocked.
It read: Don’t you think it’s the men like Professor Lucien who turn out to be wolves?
