MONICA’S POV.
“What?” I asked in shock. Why was it not going to work. “What did you do, dad?’ I asked with disgust all over my face.
“He’s not ready. He didn’t even look like he had the time for that so I’m going to advice you Monica to focus on finding your mate as soon as…”
“He’s my mate! Nobody tells me what to do and what not to do. I will marry him, I will convince him. Does he know all the years I’ve wasted loving him? Does he know all my hopes and dreams of him? Daddy, I’m not letting him go!”
“Monica!” My dad called sharply and I folded my arms and threw my face away from him. My competitive spirit was sparked. I was going to get Lucien no matter what.
“How many days is he spending here?” I asked, turning to him.
“Just two. Monica, listen to me…”
“Alright Dad, I’ve heard you. You want me to find my mate right? I have heard you but hearing you is not the same as agreeing to it. I will think about it and I’m very sure I’m going to succumb to my own decisions so don’t hope on it. You don’t have to worry about a thing. The Lycan Alpha has been marked mine from the onset. We are fated. When…when our hands touched, I felt sparks…” I spoke in such a rush that my father got to his feet.
“Hey, hey! Listen, if you can get him, go get him. I just do not want you to waste your time because he is known for being firm on his word. Once he says something, he’s not taking it back and do you intend to wait till he’s ready?”
“I will do what it takes, Father. Listen, you don’t need to worry about me, daddy.” I said, getting up and holding his arms. “It’s me, Monica, your daughter. I’m totally fine. You don’t need to worry about me. I know the right things that makes a man fall. Who changes the minds of men if it isn’t us women?” I asked, and he sighed.
“Just…”
“Or you want me to disappear and not return? Your men will never find me, you know that.”
“Alright… alright. Just… just do what you want, but promise me, if you don’t get him, you’ll forget all about him. I don’t want you wasting your youth and life, Monica.”
“Aw, you’re so sweet, daddy. It’s fine. I accept that. If I don’t get him, I’ll forget all about him.” I assured him of course because that wasn’t happening. I was going to get Lucien.
Later after my dad left, I dressed up in blue bumper shorts and a cropped white top, revealing my softness within the clothes. Every guy who had seen me wearing bumper shorts and a cropped top had always fallen because those clothes just exposed the right things and also highlighted my killer curves. A lot of my smooth, fair skin was also out on display.
I was going to ask to be directed to his room, but I happened to meet him on my way.
“Oh!” I exclaimed and waved. He saw me, and gave a little smile. “I was just about to come to show you around.” I said, and he looked around. “You don’t mind, do you?” I asked and he shook his head.
He kept on looking all around. I had expected to see his eyes roam over my body but he hadn’t done that. It was a first for me. I was known to seduce even the old men who had more control than the young and reckless ones so why was he acting stiff? Or he just had his ways? He was slow at noticing stuff? Or didn’t want his attraction for me to show?
I took him to library first and showed him how huge it was. No matter what, he was also an Alpha and if he saw how good another Alpha was with their wealth especially that they had such a perfect daughter like me, he was definitely going to be tempted.
“We import over a million books every year and donate the rest when there are no spaces left for them.” I informed him and he ran his fingers on the shelf.
After the library, I took him to the kitchens and took a little piece of meat from the dishes loaded with food that was just prepared and held it to his mouth.
“Here’s from our best chefs.” I said with honey in my voice, but he took the fork from me and took it to his mouth himself.
“Nice.” He replied, and I bit my lip.
As we walked down the stairs with him ahead of me, I intentionally pretended to trip, falling against him, and rolling off so he would have to catch me. There was no way he would touch my soft skin and would not be tempted to hold me, but…
He didn’t even touch me! He just took my hand and pulled me up with such amazing strength that my jaw fell.
“Are you alright?” He asked, and I was so embarrassed, I had to nod.
“Do you perhaps want to swim together? The water’s cool and…”
“I’m sorry but I feel a little tired. I think I’ll have my rest now, I think you also deserve a nap. After all, you have done a good job of taking me around.” He said, dipping his hands in his pockets and I gave a nervous smile.
“Yes, have a nice night.” I told him, and he nodded before turning and leaving. I watched him leave till he was out of sight before finally returning to my room dejectedly.
But no, I wasn’t one to give up that easily. If I gave up that easily then I wouldn’t be Monica.
There was no way he would reject me like that! How could he not show even the slightest interest in me? No, I wouldn’t allow that.
I took a shower, cleaned my body and rubbed myself with sweet smelling oils, sprayed lovely body mist over my body and slipped on a flimsy nightgown. I was going to give what he couldn’t resist.
I was going to go to him with just my nightgown over my naked body.
