I Am Coming for You
"O dear, I am screwed," James said looking at the door.
Mori stared at James briefly and decided to leave.
"Where are you going?" James asked.
"I am going to see your mother," Mori replied over her shoulder and James decided to follow her taking one last look at Fiona's door.
Veronica, suspicious of something fishy happening in the apartment, quietly walked towards Fiona's room when James and Mori left. She knocked gently and placing her ears on the door to listen, called out to Fiona.
"Ms Fiona, are you in there?" Veronica called out but heard nothing.
So she decides to open the door and peep in. She scanned the room and found Fiona sitting on the bed hugging her legs. She walked in and closed the door behind her. She walked towards Fiona's bed wondering what they had done to her.
"Ms Fiona, are you alright?" Veronica asked.
"Who is Fiona?" Fiona asked and Veronica was surprised.
"Is everything alright?" Veronica asked.
"Who are you and what do you want?" Fiona asked looking at the woman standing in front of her.
"I am Veronica. I am the cook. I brought you some food yesterday. Remember," Veronica reminded her.
"I was here yesterday? How come I don't remember anything?" Fiona asked getting agitated.
"Where am I? What is this place?" Fiona kept asking scanning the room frantically.
Veronica tried to calm Fiona down but the more she tried the worse Fiona became. She started screaming making Veronica run out of the room.
"What is happening?" asked Mrs Haward.
"She reacted differently to the medication," replied Mori.
"How did that happen? I thought you said she would only forget 24 hours of her memory?" asked James angrily.
"Look, I am not a doctor okay? I just happened to know about these medications. She was supposed to lose just 24 hours of her memory not forget her entire self," Mori retorted.
"I thought you were an expert in your field," James rebutted.
"So now it's my fault? Ain't you the one who couldn't keep your pants up? If you had kept your clothes on we wouldn't be in this mess in the first place," Mori threw the words at James.
"Oh, you want to push your failure on me?" James asked angrily.
"Enough!" yelled Mrs Haward.
"What happened exactly Mori," Mrs Haward directed her question to Mori.
"The human body is very complex. Anyone drugged with this medication only loses memory of what happened a day before. Her reaction is quite rare," Mori replied.
"Could it be because of the pregnancy termination medication given to her earlier?" asked Mrs Haward.
"It could be but I am not 100% sure," Mori replied, just then Mrs Hawards's phone rang and seeing who it was she asked Mori and James to leave.
"Hello," Mrs Haward said as soon as she brought the phone to her ears after Mori and James had left the study.
"It was not easy but I got the information you requested," replied the caller. "Mr Wellington is just trying to find a way to buy Jason's Hotel," he reported. "He seems to have an interest in the hotel and the location. The location is good for a project he is working on. Worth billions of dollars," he added.
"Meaning he also wants to get Jason out of the way just like I do," Mrs Haward said with a smile gradually forming on her face.
"Yes," the caller replied.
"But How did you get this information?" Mrs Haward asked knowing getting information about the Wellingtons was not that easy.
"I hacked into their system. It was so smooth. They didn't even know I was in there," the caller replied with confidence.
"Well done. I will transfer the money into your account. You can check it in the morning," Mrs Haward said and the call ended.
"Good, I have an ally. I just need to find a way to meet him and offer my help," Mrs Haward said with a smile but her smile quickly turned into a frown when Fiona's screams got to her.
She stepped out of the study and found Mori coming towards her direction.
"Give her something to make her sleep. She is disturbing the entire neighbourhood," instructed Mrs Haward.
"James is taking care of it. It was my presence that got her scared. I just wanted you to know I am putting together a new plan to retrieve the video from Vera. James is the key," Mori said.
"Good, come in and let's discuss it," Mrs Haward invited with a smile.
Back in Fiona's room, Fiona was sitting on the floor in the corner of the room hugging her legs and feeling scared. Things look familiar to her but she can't remember anything.
James entered the room looking for her but could not see her anywhere. He walked into the room and scanned the room only to find her sitting on the floor in the corner just a distance away from the bed. He walked towards her and went down to his knee level looking at her.
"Where am I? Please tell me," Fiona asked looking at James.
"Hey, hey, calm down. You are safe okay," James coaxes her and Fiona stares at him with questioning eyes.
She was quiet but had tears streaming down her face.
"I am your boyfriend okay? You were taking your bath and you fell in the bathroom. You hit your head and I am sure that is why you are feeling like this. Are you sure you don't remember anything?" James asked with an eyebrow raised.
"I don't remember anything. You look familiar but I don't know where I know you from," Fiona replied and James wiped her tears with his thumb and helped her to her feet.
James hugged Fiona and tried to calm her down by rubbing her back. She hesitated at first but she later relaxed in his arms allowing him to hug her as she sunk into his arms resting her head on his chest.
"This is working in my favour. She is not pregnant and would never remember that night. I could just keep giving her the medication and make her mine," James thought with a smile.
"It's late, get some rest," James said in a low voice and led Fiona to the bed helping her climb onto it.
He climbed into bed with her and pulled her into his arms. Fiona curled herself up like a shrimp. James turned off the bedside lamp and closed his eyes to sleep with a flag of victory waving in his head.
In the study, Mrs Haward and Mori were done with their discussion and were both smiling ear to ear with plans to start executing them once the sun came up. They both exited the study and after saying good night to each other proceeded to their rooms for the night. Mrs Haward took a shower, changed into something comfortable and climbed into bed.
"Oh Jason, you made enemies everywhere. Just wait, I am getting a powerful ally. I am coming for you," Mrs Haward said with a smile, turned off the light and pulled the sheets to cover herself.
