Ch. 118 / 166 Apr 12, 2026

The die is cast

The next day Mrs Haward presented the documents to Mr Wellington who smiled with satisfaction.

"Well done, you made the right choice," Mr Wellington said accepting the signed document from her hand.

"I do know a good deal when I see one," Mrs Haward commented.

"I will be leaving now to handle some other business starting tomorrow. As the CEO, this office is now yours. Congratulations," Mr Wellington said and handed the keys to her exiting the office.

Mrs Haward stood in the big office space. The office that once belonged to Jason. She smiled knowing she had taken it away from Jason. She sat down on the seat behind the desk and spun herself around. She fetched her phone from her bag and dialled James's number.

"Hello, my dearest son," Mrs Haward said as soon as the call connected with an eagerness to share her exciting news.

"Hi mum," replied James sounding normal.

"Guess what son?" Mrs Haward said excitedly on the phone.

"You won the lottery," James teased.

"Funny, haha, Nope. I am now the CEO of Paradise Hotel," Mrs Haward announced.

"Wait, you finally took the hotel away from Jason?" James asked.

"Yes, we won against Jason again," Mrs Haward said.

"You mean, you took everything away from Jason again? Meaning he is back to starting from the grassroots?" James asked.

"Yes, now is your opportunity to use your contacts to send him to prison," Mrs Haward said.

"Did he leave with Julia?" James asked with his plan in mind concerning her.

"I don't know. I just have to wait till 11. 30 a.m. to find that out but I don't think he will leave her behind if he is moving away to start afresh elsewhere," Mrs Haward informed him, opening and closing the evidence of her ownership of the Hotel in front of her.

"I will not disappoint you, Mum. I will ensure Jason goes to prison," James assured.

"Good. I also got strong backing for us. Mr Wellington is onboard with us," Mrs Haward informed him.

"That is great news. I will make some calls now," James replied.

"Move fast, you know Jason. I am sure he is working on something to get him back to the top already," Mrs Haward alerted him.

"True, mum, is there a way we can freeze all his accounts? If he can't access them it will slow him down and it will make it difficult to rely on his contacts to get him out of jail," James suggested.

"Leave that to me. I will speak with Mr Wellington about that. You do what you can to get him arrested, I will reach out to Mr Wellington about freezing his accounts," Mrs Haward stated.

"Okay mum, let's plan a grand announcement of you as the new owner of Paradise Hotel after," James proposed.

"That is good but this is what will be perfect; let's schedule the grand announcement on the same day we are sending Jason to prison. I want the news headlines to read; Mrs Matilda Haward is now the new CEO of Paradise Hotel and Jason, former CEO of Paradise Hotel, the man who scammed the Hawards has been arrested by the police," Mrs Haward said and smiled, already imagining the news on TV.

"That is perfect. I will get right on it," James replied and the call ended.

"Now where are those surveillance cameras?" Mrs Haward asked herself scanning the whole office environment.

Her eyes fell on the door behind a curtain. She got up and tried to open it but it was locked.

"Why is this place locked?" she thought but decided to leave it for now and rather sat down on the sofa.

Mr Wellington, upon leaving Paradise Hotel went to the Wellington's company. Upon arriving and entering the building, all the staff started acknowledging him with a bow, if it was a man greeting him and a slight bending of the knee if it was a woman.

"Welcome Mr President," they all address him after their courtesy greetings.

Mr Wellington knocked gently on an office door and heard the familiar voice inviting him in. He opened the door and entered.

"How are you and how is business?" Mr Wellington asked sitting down on the seat in front of Jason's desk.

"All good, we will be signing a new partnership deal end of the week," Jason informed him.

"That is great news. I see a tremendous rise in productivity. Mr Haward was never wrong about you," Mr Wellington praised.

"Sir, the documents are ready....." came Peter's voice as soon as he opened the door but paused when his gaze fell on Mr Wellington.

"Hello, Mr Wellington," Peter greeted.

"Hello Peter," Mr Wellington responded.

"I will leave this here and come back later for the briefing," Peter said to Jason and was about to leave when Mr Wellington stopped him.

"You can have a seat, what I am about to say does concern you too," Mr Wellinton said and Peter pulled a seat and sat down.

"The die is cast so I guess you need to get ready. If not today within the week, the police will be at your doorstep," Mr Wellington announced.

"Meaning she accepted your offer?" Jason asked.

"Yes, I needed to let you two know so you can prepare. And here are the documents," Mr Wellington said and placed a brown envelope in front of Jason.

Jason took it and opened it bringing out the documents inside. He looked at the content.

"It's part of the fortune," Jason announced.

"I know, my men have the rest of the documents, we only needed her to fetch the documents to see where she keeps them," Mr Wellington informed Jason.

"Great, so now we wait for her to make her next move and we strike," Jason said.

"Finally everything is coming to an end," commented Peter.

"Now will be a good time to stop Ms Julia from going to the hotel today," Peter alerted them.

"Yes, I will call her. Talking of which, I would like your opinion on something. I will see you later on that today," Jason directed the second part of his statement to his father after acknowledging Peter's alert.

"Sure," replied Mr Wellington.

"I will work from home after today and await the police appearance so we end everything," Jason said to his father.

"That is perfect. I will be in my office, it's right above yours," Mr Wellington said with a smile and got up leaving Peter and Jason to continue with their work.

"Now what are we looking at?" Jason asked.

Peter quickly walked Jason through the documents he had prepared and Jason was satisfied to proceed with that content.

Back at the Hawards, James was on his phone talking to someone.

"We need to find him. Start from his house," James proposed. "You have up to close of the day," he added and ended the call.

He dialled another number and brought the phone to his ears.

"Hello, officer, hope you are well,' James asked.

"Yes, I am. How are you and how is your family?" asked the Officer.

"Great, we need you to arrest Jason," James went straight to the point.

"Okay, based on what?" asked the officer.

"He is a scammer, kidnapping, I don't know, find something, that is what we are paying you for," James said irritated by his question.

"Sure, I will get my men to move by tomorrow morning," replied the officer.

"When you arrest him, bring Julia to me," James requested.

"Okay," replied the officer and the call ended.

"Julia, I will make you mine," James whispered on his lips.

"Hmmm, I wonder what kind of woman this Julia lady is," came a voice from behind James.

"How long, have you been there?" James asked upon hearing Mori's voice.

"Long enough to hear about Jason's arrest and a request for Julia," Mori replied and walked towards James placing a hand on his chest and wrapping the other around his waist.

"What are you doing?" James asked looking at her with a frown.

"That is odd. I am surprised that question didn't cross your mind for an answer when you kissed me the last time," Mori stated and stood on her toe, her lips almost touching James's as her eyes alternated between his lips and eyes.

"So you intend to finish what I started?" James asked with both of his hands in his pocket.

"Do you?" Mori asked coquettishly and planted a kiss on his lips but he was not moved.

"Mori, you don't move me," James said and removed her hands from himself walking away surprising Mori.

"What is wrong with me?" she thought with her hands on her hip still staring in the direction James left.

The rest of the day was none eventful but Jason called Julia and asked her not to go to work to which she obliged. She used the opportunity to cook something for supper for Jaosn.

James was out in town engaging a few media friends of his on the announcement of his mum as the new CEO of Paradise. He also chipped in an arrest of Jason and requested both news go out at the same time.

Later that evening he shared everything with his mum who was very impressed. They happily awaited the next day for the news to be on air.

The next day, at 6 a.m., a group of four officers arrived at Jason's apartment. The door was opened by Mary and one of the officers requested to see Jason and she went quickly to get him. Jason came downstairs to meet the one looking for him and the officer put a handcuff on him.

"Jason Haward, you are under arrest, for the Kidnapping of Ms Julia Harrison. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you," said the officer.

Julia was coming downstairs and she saw what was happening.

"What is going on?" Julia screamed and quickly came to Jason stopping them from taking him away.

"Ms, you are coming with us too," said another officer.

"For what?" yelled Julia but Jason remained silent and composed.

He just looked at his manservant and the servant quickly fled the scene to make a call. The officers moved Jason and Julia out of the apartment towards their car and within a matter of seconds, there were a swarm of reporters taking pictures and asking one question after the other. Mrs Haward and James sat behind their TV and saw the live stream.

"Well done son," Mrs Haward said smiling ear to ear. "Time for me to go receive my glory," she said and got up leaving the house for the Hotel, knowing very well there would be reporters at the hotel waiting to interview her too.
