Let's Get A Divorce - Part 2
The doctor quickly checked her and also noticed the bruises on her wrist. He promptly called a medical team, and Julia was sent to the ER. His phone rang and he checked the caller ID. He knew who it was and decided to ignore the call for now.
Back at the Hawards apartment, Fiona sat comfortably on the sofa in the living room, with James and Mrs Haward.
"You are welcome to my humble home," welcomed Mrs Haward.
"Thank you," responded Fiona and James who was sitting next to Fiona with his legs crossed smiled.
"I know we got off on the wrong foot but you can understand, a mother's love for her children. You are about to become a mother soon. I am sure you understand," Mrs Haward said with a smile and Fiona smiled back.
"I can understand. I also want to apologize for my behaviour that day. Taking an issue as delicate as this to the public was not the best way to handle things and for that, I am deeply sorry for the humiliation and the problem I caused you all," Fiona apologized sounding very sincere.
"Apology accepted," acknowledged Mrs Haward. "Veronica?" she called out.
"Yes ma'am," responded Veronica who hurried to the living room.
"Take Ms Fiona's things to the guest room. She will be staying with us," Mrs Haward instructed.
"Yes ma'am," replied Veronica.
"Ms Fiona, you can go with her so you see where your room is," Mrs Haward said to Fiona with a smile.
"Sure," Fiona acknowledged and got up following Veronica out of the living room to the room that used to be Mirenda's.
"Mum, why did you put her in a different room? I thought she would be sharing a room with me?" James complained with his voice very low but loud enough for his mother to hear.
"You lack self-control that is why," replied Mrs Haward and James rolled his eyes.
"She is already pregnant. What is the worst that can happen? Is it wrong to have fun?" James asked.
"Your head will be in the clouds," replied Mrs Haward.
"Ma'am, I am done," reported Veronica interrupting their conversation.
"Okay, get out," Mrs Haward replied driving her away with a hand gesture.
A knock was heard a few minutes after Veronica had exited the living room and one of the servants hurried to answer the door. He welcomed the person in and led her to Mrs Haward.
"Ah, Mori you are here," Mrs Haward said with a smile and James frowned. "Mori here is a nurse she will be taking care of Ms Fiona," she said and James smiled knowing exactly what she meant.
"Welcome Mori," James said, got up from the sofa and greeted her with a handshake, just then Fiona entered the living room.
Fiona carried a confused expression as she tried to force a smile on her face wondering what was going on. Her presence got all of them to turn and look in her direction.
"You must be Ms Fiona," said Mori offering her a handshake.
Fiona raised her eyebrow moving her gaze from Mori's hand to James and Mrs Haward and back to Mori the strange woman. She accepted the handshake.
"Arrr," Fiona made a sound hoping someone would do some introduction.
"Fiona, meet Ms Mori, she is our family nurse. I invited her over to personally tend to your needs," Mrs Haward said with a smile.
"Herrh, ha, thank you," Fiona replied feeling both tensed and awkward as she accepted the handshake.
"Ms Mori will be staying here with us so she can take good care of you and the baby," Mrs Haward added and Fiona turned white like a sheet.
"Are you feeling alright?" asked Mori who noticed Fiona's colour change accompanied by the discomfort.
"I am just a little tired," Fiona replied and Mori made her sit on the sofa and took the pillows on the sofa, placing them behind her and on her side to provide her with some comfort.
"Feeling better," Mori asked with a smile.
"Yes, thank you," replied Fiona with an awkward smile.
"O dear, Vera, where are you? If this nurse gets to know I am not pregnant we are screwed," Fiona thought still holding the smile on her face. "O dear God, help me," she cried inwardly but still kept a smile on her face.
"Ma'am, food is ready," announced Veronica.
"Good, let's all go to the dining room," Mrs Haward said to James, Fiona and Mori.
"Veronica please add another plate for Ms Mori and get the room next to Fiona's ready for her," instructed Mrs Haward before they all left for the dining room.
Veronica bowed and left to carry out the instruction of Mrs Haward.
Back at Henry's apartment, he had managed to calm Mirenda down and she was sleeping lying on the sofa with her head on his lap. Henry runs his fingers lightly through her hair admiring her sleeping face. He traced the shape of her face with his finger and she opened her eyes.
"Hi beautiful, you are finally awake," Henry said in a whisper.
"Hmm," Mirenda groaned and got up from his lap sitting down on the sofa.
"Let me get you some glass of water," Henry suggested and immediately got up went to the kitchen and returned with a glass of water which he offered to her.
Mirenda accepted the glass of water and drank half before placing the glass gently on the table. Henry sat next to her and took her hand in his, staring straight into her eyes. Mirenda lowered her head shyly making him smile.
"You still shy of me," Henry commented and Mirenda leaned on his shoulders.
"Okay, tell me, what happened. You didn't look good at all," Henry said rubbing the back of Mirenda's hand.
"It's my mum, she doesn't like me," Mirenda began.
"Mirenda, my love, what makes you think your mother doesn't like you?" Henry asked.
"She told me herself. She never liked me from day one when she found out she was pregnant with me," Mirenda said and sat up lifting her gaze to look at him.
Henry read the sadness and pain in her eyes.
"Mr Haward is not my father. She hates me because I was a product of a one-night stand with a man she would not even be caught dead with. She called me a bad omen," Mirenda said and tears rolled down her face.
"Sssh," Henry consoled hugging her and rubbing her back.
"You are not a bad omen Mirenda. Your mother said that because she was angry. You are the best thing that happened to me. You are my blessing," Henry whispered into her ears and she hugged him tightly finding solace in his arms.
"Calm down my love, you are the sweetest person I have ever met," Henry said pulling away from the hug and caressing her face.
"Whatever your mum said, don't believe her. Jason was right, you are a perfect woman," Henry said making her smile.
He kissed her and hugged her again rubbing her back.
At the hospital, Julia opened her eyes to see Jason sitting on the chair next to her. She closed and opened her eyes again thinking she was imaging him but he was still sitting there wearing a baseball cap and a nose mask.
"What are you doing here?" Julia asked trying to get up but Jason held her down.
"Lie down for a while. I understand you passed out," Henry said in a deep but calm voice.
Julia pushed his hand away and sat down on the bed staring angrily at him.
"Why did you do it?" Julia asked and Jason frowned not understanding her question but remained silent.
"Oh, you are going to keep mute as usual. I want to know what wrong I did you for you to treat me this way," Julia asked with pain in her voice making Jason's heartache.
Jason had never liked it when Julia was hurting.
"Julia I don't understand you," Jason finally spoke.
"Oh, you don't understand me? Okay, I will make it clearer. Why did you terminate my pregnancy?" Julia asked going straight to the point. "Oh, and while you are thinking of a lie to tell me, I would also like to know why you decided to keep me as your wife?" she said angrily.
Jason recalled the day he also found out she was pregnant. He didn't know she was until that day.
"I didn't know," Jason replied.
"Oh, ha, ha, is that your explanation? For which of my questions, the termination of my pregnancy or keeping me as your wife?" Julia asked staring angrily at him.
"I didn't know you were pregnant until I brought you here," Jason said.
"Oh, so when you found out I was pregnant, you decided you wanted to terminate it?" Julia asked angrily but tears flowed down her face.
"You never loved me from day one and I stupidly fell in love with you. Jason, how did I wrong you? All I have done I did it because I love you and what did you do? You took advantage of my love for your selfish gain. I thought you were different but I was wrong all you wanted was the Haward's fortune and that is why you kept me as your wife and that is why you didn't want a child with me because I am just a means to an end," Julia cried
Jason had his head lowered while she was talking not saying or reacting to anything she was saying. She whipped her tears with the back of her hand and got down from the bed
"Jason, let's get a divorce?" Julia said.
Jason lifted his head upon hearing the words that had just come out of her mouth and what Julia saw left her surprised.
