Gloria thought, 'What if I could go back in time? What if I get to choose again?
I think I would still choose to work with Lucas because I had to keep the Carter Group going.'
Gloria pulled out the chair and looked deeply at Lucas again.
Then she turned around and left decisively.
As he watched her walking away step by step, staggering, he said, "Gloria!"
Lucas' deep voice was as magnificent as a cell, it echoed behind her.
He looked at Gloria's back, ignoring the sudden sense of loss in his heart. He felt that he had lost something very important.
He shouted at her, "The woman I choose will keep her hair long just for me! That woman will be the love of my life!"
Gloria did not stop. She stood with her back to Lucas, and there was a smile on her delicate face. She said in a tender voice, "Good luck. And goodbye."
At the dining table, Lucas put the last bit of pasta into his mouth. He chewed hard and closed his eyes.
He thought, 'Now that my heart is empty, I should at least get my stomach filled.'
"Nonsense," Lucas whispered.
He was silent for a long time at the dining table.
Suddenly, he stood up and strode away. He walked faster and faster and rushed into Heath's room madly.
Klein had no time to react before the swinging door hit him on the side of the face. He was dumbfounded. Then he said, "Lucas, you can't go in. Mr. Joseph has a visitor."
However, it was too late.
Looking at the scene in front of him, Klein propped up his forehead with a headache. "Mr. Joseph has a visitor in his bedroom."
The bed was a mess. The burly, half naked Heath was on top of a sexy woman, and it was easy to figure out what was going on before Lucas barged in.
Heath scratched his hair in frustration. A certain kind of his lust was stuffed, and he couldn't vent it, which irritated him at once. "Shit! Are you insane?"
At the end of the bed, Lucas, who was as tall as Heath was, went to the liquor cabinet. He pulled it open and took out a bottle of whiskey. "Care to drink with me?"
Lucas was acting so strangely, which naturally caught Heath's attention. Heath narrowed his eyes, looked at Lucas for a while, and then suddenly got up from the woman. He put on a nightgown casually, pulled open the drawer, wrote a check, and handed it to the discontented woman, smiling elegantly, "I think you'll love this check more than me, gorgeous."
The woman happily picked up the check and left without any trace of dissatisfaction.
"Heath, you are more of a beast than me." Lucas raised his glass.
Heath waved his hand at Klein, who left sensibly.
"At least I'm qualified to be a beast, right?" Heath poured himself a glass. The wine was mixed with ice, and with one mouthful, he felt great. A certain kind of desire deep down was momentarily suppressed.
"You are a total beast." Lucas chuckled.
Heath raised his eyebrows in surprise. "Didn't you teach me that?"
Lucas smiled even more brightly, provided that the bitterness in the corner of his eyes was ignored. He said bitterly, "In other words, I am a total beast."
"What has gotten into you? That queen of yours? Did she upset you?" Heath was a little curious.
"Heath, when I think back now, I find myself weird. How come I used to think that being called a hunter would be an honorable thing?" The current Lucas made people feel that he was a piece of art that was about to be broken, engulfed in indescribable sadness.
"Lucas. You're insane!" Heath roared.
A taxi was heading towards the airport.
Gloria sent a message to Mandy, "Mandy, I'm coming back. Come to my office tomorrow. I'll give you the contract."
After a while, Mandy texted back, "So hasty? It can wait."
Gloria replied, "No need."
Mandy hesitated for a long time before texting back, "By the way, Camille came by a couple of times when you were away. She said that Harry had leukemia, and she wanted you to donate bone marrow."
Gloria glanced at the text and pursed her lips tightly.
She stared at the message for a long time and finally only replied, "I see."
Gloria bought a night flight. Before the plane took off, she made a phone call.
"Make sure you find a match as soon as possible. As to the cost, I promise to give the Moonlight Group to you. I promise to give you everything I can offer." Gloria was expressionless, but her fingertips were pale as she clutched the hand holding the phone.
"Miss Carter, we will do our best. Don't worry," the other party comforted.
When Gloria put down the phone, she was full of worries.
Suddenly, her phone rang. It was a strange number. She wanted to cut it off, but she accidentally pressed the wrong key.
As soon as the call was connected, she heard an angry voice. "Why didn't you answer my calls? Gloria, you block my number. That's so cold of you. Harry has leukemia. Are you going to sit back on your hands and watch him die? I've called you a dozen times, and if Harry hadn't warned me that you might have blocked my number, I wouldn't have thought of calling you with another number. Gloria, how could you do this?"
Gloria was stunned by the voice.
It took a long time for her to recall that she had indeed blocked the numbers of those from the Carter family.
The one who was talking was Harry's mother and also her mother, yet in her mouth, Gloria was nothing but cold and merciless.
"Did it ever occur to you that I'm also a living person as well?" Gloria couldn't stand it anymore and shouted at the phone.
She immediately cut off the phone and ended the call. In the next second, she blocked the number.
Not long after, her phone rang again.
"You block me again?" Camille called again.
Gloria hung up.
After that, she entered a nightmarish cycle. After she blocked a number, Camille would call her with a different number, and similar things went on a dozen times. Camille refused to give up, and Gloria almost wanted to laugh due to anger.
Camille called again. This time, Gloria pressed the answer button. She was furious, and she wanted to hear what Camille wanted to say to her!
"Gloria! I'm telling you! If Harry dies, you can forget about being part of the Carter family!" Camille shouted hysterically.
"I'm long gone from the Carter family, aren't I?" Gloria sneered and thought, 'So, this is what you are going to do? I expect you to be better. I have been expelled from the Silver Spring Pack for years, haven't I?'
"You..." Camille choked. She shouted angrily, "Anyway, your surname is Carter. You are Harry's sister. So, you ought to donate your bone marrow to him!"
"You want me, a weak werewolf without a wolf, to donate my bone marrow?" Gloria asked. She wanted to see how cold-blooded Camille could be.
"I've checked with the pack doctor already. You will be fine! Besides, donating bone marrow might not affect you at all, but it can save Harry's life!" Camille said righteously. She wished she could get Gloria to donate her bone marrow at once.
Gloria's eyes gradually turned cold. "What if I refuse?"
