Trapped by Him

Chapter 257

Ch. 255 / 398 Feb 22, 2026

"Patrick lied to you!" Ellison looked emotional. He had been waiting for the moment for a long time.

"Shut up!" At the door of the conference room, Patrick shouted. The doctor said that his mind had regressed to an eight-year-old.

But Ellison's words exposed the lie. Patrick was furious and glared at Ellison with his sharp eyes.

"Gloria, I can explain." Patrick looked nervously at Gloria and was anxious.

There were other people in the conference room, including Alex, Stewart, and some higher-ups of the Hammond Group.

Gloria's gaze swept over the crowd and landed on one person.

Soon, she shifted her gaze away. The slight mocking smile on her face disappeared before people could notice it.

The person whom Gloria had just looked at saw it and clenched his fists.

Everyone was staring at Gloria.

Stewart said, "Gloria, Patrick didn't lie to you on purpose."

"Fine, then explain it to me." Under everyone's gaze, Gloria was not as furious as expected.

Gloria interrupted Stewart calmly. She looked at Patrick indifferently, her tone was gentle and without a trace of anger. "Go ahead."

No one could hear a trace of anger in her tone.

No one had expected her to be so calm.

Stewart breathed a sigh of relief.

Ellison's eyes turned cold. He pursed his lips and stared at Patrick and Gloria.

Another person in the crowd was also paying attention to Patrick and Gloria's movements.

Patrick stared nervously at Gloria. "Gloria, I did not mean to lie to you. I just wanted you to stay by my side. But you wouldn't let off your guard. Even if I said something without any intention, you would be on guard subconsciously. Gloria, I have no other choice."

Patrick said a lot. The more Gloria listened, the more desperate she became.

She put her hands in the pockets of her coat and clenched them secretly.

It was as if she was holding on to her only dignity and expectations.

She was wrong. She was wrong once again.

"So, all of this was your trick, right?" Gloria raised her head and asked calmly. "From the very beginning, it was just a game. You got injured in Italy, you suffered from memory loss, and your mind regressed to eight years old... Those were all lies, right? The pack doctor and all of you played along, and I was the only audience, right?"

Gloria said slowly and calmly, as if she was not angry at all. However, her consecutive questions revealed her mood swings.

She was not good at showing her emotions. In fact, she wanted to speak out loud about her feelings and make everyone in the world know immediately.

However, she was no longer at the age of impulsion.

She would no longer be agitated or out of hand easily.

"Gloria, I hope that you can stay by my side like before." Patrick was anxious.

"I didn't lie to you on purpose. Will you forgive me?" He said expectantly.

Gloria smiled slightly. "I couldn't think straight now. Can I be alone for a while and give you the answer later?"

Her way of handling the matter was so peaceful.

Patrick looked at Gloria, his eyes filled with nervousness. He lowered his gaze and conceded. "I'll wait for you."

Gloria smiled, "Okay."

She looked up and smiled at Patrick.

Then, she turned around and left.

Everyone who knew the inside story was waiting for a storm to come.

But the storm did not come as they expected.

Ellison's eyes were full of reluctance and anger. "Gloria, are you leaving just like that?"

Gloria said, "Don't tell me that you're trying hard to make fun of me."

Ellison stopped talking. Because he did.

Ellison wanted to see if Gloria would still be deeply in love with Patrick and regret her decision to reject Ellison when the truth was exposed.

Ellison looked at Gloria's back. He did not hesitate to join hands with the annoying Derrick and forced Patrick to stop acting stupid and stand out to stabilize the situation. He had been looking forward to the moment when Gloria saw Patrick at the Hammond Group and the moment she regretted her decision. But Gloria left calmly.

The expected storm did not come, nor did Gloria's disappointment, fury, and hatred of being deceived.

Someone could not help but stand up. "Gloria, he lied to you! He never spoke a word of truth to you! Are you going to forgive him just like that?"

Gloria heard the familiar voice and stopped in her tracks. In the past years, the voice was once the only hope in her life.

She turned around slowly and looked straight at the person who walked out of the crowd. He finally spoke. She thought that no matter what happened, he would not stand up and say a word today.

If that were the case, she would erase the speculation in her heart.

What a pity!

Gloria said, "This morning before I went to Carter Group, I never thought that I would see Patrick at the Hammond Group."

"Then why do you..." The person asked eagerly.

Gloria smiled at him calmly. "Similarly, Mr. Fisher, I never thought that I would see you here."

After that, she left without looking back.

Derrick stared at her back.

Gloria did not blame him, but she gave him a heavy blow. Since he appeared in the Hammond Group...

Gloria could guess that he had joined Ellison's scheme.

Derrick smiled bitterly. Gloria had always been smart.

Her simple sentence exposed his most unbearable side in front of others. Even if he was at a different standpoint from Gloria, he exclaimed in admiration inwardly, 'What an amazing counterattack!'

There was the sound of the elevator opening. People watched Gloria walk in and the doors closed silently.

The atmosphere in the meeting room was awkward.

"Are you satisfied?" Patrick's face was cold, his eagle-like eyes fixed on Alex. "Grandpa, are you satisfied?"

Stewart stood behind Patrick to show his stance.

Ellison's heart was twisted with jealousy. "No one forced you to pretend to be a fool and lie to Gloria. The moment you lied to her, you should have expected such a result. It was not Grandpa's fault, but yours, Patrick! You have no right to blame him!"
