In the ward, Patrick took a chair and sat down. Opposite him was Harry.
"She lied to me and came to donate her bone marrow to you."
Patrick said, breaking the silence.
Harry turned pale and gradually despaired. He said, "I'll go find her! I won't force her to donate her bone marrow!" He stood up and was about to leave.
"Gloria was injecting G-CSF. I took her home."
Harry calmed down after hearing that.
"The donor?" Harry was puzzled.
"Your brother."
Harry did not know what to say for a moment.
"Your brother's match result was a fake. I've known this for a long time. But Gloria doesn't care about it, so I do nothing."
Harry wanted to say something. He found that Patrick was so indifferent. Patrick knew the truth, yet he chose to stand aside and watch the farce.
"You know Gloria went to the bone marrow bank. Ever since she found out about your condition, she's been asking around to find a suitable donor. I guess I underestimated how soft-hearted she could be."
Then Patrick smiled wryly, "She couldn't find a match, so she chose to be the one. She cared about you, and given that, I couldn't continue to just stand by. I went to your brother and your father's lover. And now, the one lying in the ward is your brother. He is the donor."
Harry was not stupid. Alger had barely come to visit him after he got sick. In other words, Alger didn't give a damn about him.
"How much did you give them?" He firmly believed that Mazey was nothing but greedy.
Patrick looked up at Harry and smiled coldly, "A commercial company with a market value of 40 million dollars and 20 million dollars in cash."
Camille was next to them. Hearing his words, she gasped and blurted out, looking ferocious, "How could you give that brat and that slut that much? Are they worthy?"
Patrick sneered and looked at Camille, "Is Gloria's life worth it?"
Camille blushed.
"Harry, remember. Gloria saved your life."
After saying that, Patrick stood up. "So, remember. Stay alive. From now on, do not muddle along.
"As for the Carter Group," Patrick sneered. "The Carter Group is long past being saved. Don't think that Gloria reaps something out of it. The company is just a hot potato."
At the mention of the Carter Group, Camille couldn't stay calm. "Nonsense! The Carter Group is worth so much. How come it's a hot potato? Well, since we've already let Gloria have the Carter Group, we won't fight for it. You are afraid that we will compete with Gloria for the Carter Group, right?"
Patrick looked at the excited Camille who acted generous. His thin lips curved into a sarcastic smile. "Can the Carter Group be compared with the Hammond Group?"
Camille choked on his words.
"If Gloria wants the Hammond Group, I'll be more than happy to give it to her." What Patrick was suggesting was that the Carter Group was nothing.
There was shock on Camille's face. After feeling shocked, she was skeptical.
After all, the Hammond Group was such a big company. Who on earth would willingly hand it over to someone else?
"Everyone can talk," Camille said stubbornly.
Patrick smiled and didn't explain much.
His eyes fell on Harry. "You have never cared about the Carter Group, right? You've been enjoying life, and when you run out of money, you always turn to the company. You're used to being pampered, aren't you?"
Harry blushed due to Patrick's mockery, and he couldn't refute Patrick at all.
Patrick was telling the truth. In the previous days, Harry had always lived a carefree and unruly life.
It didn't matter if he ran out of money, since the Carter family would always provide for him.
He never worried about money.
"The Carter Group was in a mess before Gloria came to the company. The higher-ups had their own agenda, and employees had their plans, too. Alger failed to keep an eye on them, so he simply transferred most of the company's funds at the time when Gloria was assigned, leaving the Carter Group with a huge fund gap."
Patrick said unhurriedly, "Harry, you have studied finance and are somehow familiar with how companies work. I'm sure you know how tricky it is when it comes to cash shortages."
Harry couldn't believe what he heard.
The Carter Group's capital chain was broken.
He wanted to deny it, but it was Patrick who said these words.
Therefore, he couldn't refute Patrick at all.
"Did it ever occur to you that Gloria never wanted to fight with you?" Patrick said and left.
Harry was left standing there, ashamed.
Harry thought, 'Gloria has been contacting the bone marrow bank since she came back from Waikiki Beach. She probably thought that if she couldn't find one, she would be the donor herself.
My heart aches. She has never wanted to fight me with anything.
The Carter Group was in such a crisis, and we accused her of reaping great benefits, yet she never clarified herself.
The medical bills for my hospitalization are a huge figure, and Mom is a big spender. But Gloria has never been late paying us every month.'
Camille lowered her head. Right now, no one knew what she was thinking.
No one saw her red eyes.
She was probably the only one who knew how much she cared about Gloria.
Time passed by. Mandy came to the apartment many times and was blocked outside every time.
She asked around, beating around the bush, and finally knew what had happened.
She knew that Gloria went to the hospital to donate her bone marrow, and fortunately, Patrick stopped her forcefully.
Mandy felt that she couldn't feel at ease with the company shares in her hand.
She came to the apartment several times, but still, she did get to see Gloria.
Mandy was so anxious. Today, outside the door, she finally could not bear it anymore. She shouted, "This is imprisonment! Are you going to let me in or not? If you keep shutting me out, I'll call the police now!"
Hank looked at Mandy, who kept screaming, bouncing, attacking, and swearing at him, and he felt a great headache. He thought, 'She looks charming. Who knows that she can be as mad as a shrewd as well?'
"Be quiet! Stop shouting!" Hank whispered. "Luna Gloria is taking a nap. Can you keep your voice down?"
"Alright. If you want me to be quiet, get out of the way and let me in. I will leave after seeing Miss Carter. OK?"
Looking at the provocative look on her face, Hank did not believe her at all.
He reached out to stop Mandy, and unexpectedly, she bit him. He said, "How can you bite me? Are you a dog?"
"Are you going to let me in or not?" Mandy was determined to see Gloria today.
Mandy thought, 'I have been staying downstairs. After watching Patrick get in his car and leave, I came up.
Who would have known this? Damned Patrick! He left and asked someone to guard the door!'
"Do you think Miss Carter is a criminal? She is a living person!" Mandy was very angry.
"Please don't make things difficult for me. Be quiet, OK? Luna Gloria is taking a nap," Hank said, feeling in a dilemma.
Just as he was speaking, Mandy, who was pestering him desperately, suddenly shouted, "Smoke! Smoke!"
"Please stop messing around!" Hank figured that she had come up with another trick. He became impatient and said sternly with a poker face.
"Look! Smoke!"
She looked serious. Hank turned his head to the door in the direction she pointed.
