Mandy arrived at Gloria's home. Gloria got a cup of warm water for her. "The Carter Group is gradually getting back on track.
"During this time, you have been busy helping me out." Gloria took out the stock rights transfer agreement that she had prepared beforehand and handed it to Mandy. "Sign it."
Mandy picked it up in confusion. The next second, she sat up straight and browsed through it quickly. After a while, her expression was solemn. "You want to transfer 50% of the shares of the Carter Group to me?"
"Just sign it. You earned it." Gloria said, "You know me well. If I have made a decision, nothing can change my mind. If you don't want to sign it, I will exchange the shares for money and donate it in your name."
"What is going on?" Mandy asked anxiously.
Gloria chuckled and interrupted Mandy, "I didn't give it to you for free. I want you to continue to work hard for me, and I'm just trying to win your support."
Mandy breathed a sigh of relief and let go of the doubts in her heart. She picked up a pen and signed the paper. "I'll sign it. Don't regret it."
Gloria smiled and shook her head. "I won't regret it.
"By the way, I won't go to the Carter Group tomorrow morning."
"What's the matter?" Mandy asked.
"I'm a little tired and want to rest." Gloria looked tired. "Mandy, I just gave you half of the company. Don't let me down."
She spoke seriously and then she stood up. "I won't keep you for dinner. I'll sleep for a while. I feel tired so often lately. I don't know why."
Mandy felt worried. "Alright, I'll take my leave. You don't have to rush to work. I will handle things in the company.
"You gave me the shares of the Carter Group. Aren't you regretful?"
Mandy was still confused. She thought, 'Gloria wants my support. But, I will always work hard for her with or without those shared.'
When Mandy walked to the door, Gloria said, "Wait a minute."
"What's wrong?" Mandy turned around.
"Mandy, I can't believe that we are already in our thirties." Gloria was a little emotional.
"Yes. We used to have fun and laughed so freely in the old days. Now, we don't do that anymore." They were talking and laughing, and the atmosphere was relaxing. "Alright, I'm leaving. Have a good rest."
"I'll walk you to the elevator." Gloria stood up.
"Why are you being so polite? We are not parting forever." Mandy waved her hand.
They walked out of the apartment one after the other, and Mandy stepped into the elevator. The moment the door closed, she looked up and saw Gloria smiling at her. For some reason, her heart skipped a beat.
On the way back, Mandy felt a little uneasy, but she could not think of any reason.
The next day, Gloria went to the hospital with a low profile.
"Miss Carter, the same as yesterday?" It was still the nurse from yesterday, who jabbed Gloria with the G-CSF.
"How is he doing today?" Gloria asked.
"Let me check. The doctor will arrange a check-up for Mr. Carter every day. The report will be done in a minute," the nurse said and looked up at the clock.
As she spoke, a doctor hurried in with a stack of documents in his hand. "Miss Carter, you came at the right time. These are Harry's latest medical reports. This index is abnormal."
The doctor walked to Gloria hurriedly and pointed to the index on the reports. "In fact, recently, his condition has been getting worse day by day. According to today's medical reports, if his condition continues to worsen, he may not just need a bone marrow transplant."
Gloria's clear eyes slightly darkened. "What is going on? Please explain it to me."
"It indicates kidney failure." The doctor looked at the silent Gloria and pursed his lips.
Gloria's heart skipped a beat. If she didn't make a mistake, it would be the worst-case scenario.
She clenched her fists subconsciously. "What is the consequence of kidney failure?"
"Kidney transplant," the doctor said.
"I have been injected with G-CSF for two days." Gloria pursed her lips.
"Miss Carter, I know what you want to ask. According to the current report, Harry should be able to hold on until the day of bone marrow transplantation." The doctor paused before continuing, "But we can't guarantee the actual situation."
Then, the doctor took out another medical report. "This is your medical report, Miss Carter. We can only hope that Harry's physical condition will remain stable."
"Go ahead," Gloria said.
"Miss Carter, are you still going to hide your identity from Harry?" The doctor asked suspiciously. "You are his immediate family, and you don't need to hide anything from him. Besides, with your physical condition, there is a certain risk of failure to donate bone marrow. If you are in danger during the process or after the donation, what will you do?"
Gloria was stunned for a moment. She did not think about what would happen after she donated her bone marrow.
She closed her eyes. When she opened them again, she looked determined. "I'll go on with the G-CSF."
Gloria stayed still and let the nurse pierce the cold needle into her skin.
Suddenly, the door was pushed open. It slammed against the wall and made a loud noise.
The nurse's hand trembled slightly, and she was about to scold the person who pushed the door open. But when she turned around and saw the person's ice-cold face, she trembled all over. "You are not allowed to get in here."
The person's gaze was sharp. The nurse was so scared that she almost bit her tongue.
Gloria looked at Patrick in disbelief, and her hands began trembling. She wanted to stay calm, yet there was nothing she could do about it.
Patrick approached her step by step. His handsome face was covered with coldness and looked ferocious and terrifying. He gnashed his teeth as if he wanted to tear her apart.
Gloria bit her lip, pressed her trembling arms, and tried hard to straighten her back. She wanted to face him bravely and let him know that she was not afraid.
Though she tried her best, in Patrick's eyes, her resistance was childish and not worth mentioning.
Gloria stood up suddenly and wanted to run away.
Patrick pushed her back into the chair. He smashed his fist angrily to the wall, refusing to hurt her in the slightest.
"You said you wanted private space, so you came there?" Patrick asked through gritted teeth.
Gloria's face turned even paler.
"Are you going to escape again?" Patrick suppressed his anger and whispered in Gloria's ear.
Other than endless anger, there was also sadness and despair in his words.
