At midnight, the temperature dropped abruptly.
Gloria woke up when she heard the noise. She listened carefully and found that it was the sound of Patrick rubbing his clothes.
She sat up quietly and looked under the bed.
She found it strange. Sleeping on the sofa in the living room was much better than sleeping on the floor in her bedroom.
If it were Gloria, she would rather choose to sleep on the sofa.
Patrick was trembling all over. He wrapped his hands around his body and curled into a ball.
"Are you awake?" In the darkness, Gloria asked slowly in a calm voice.
The bedroom was silent. No one responded to her.
"Stop pretending to sleep," Gloria said lightly.
After a while, Patrick finally turned over. He opened his eyes in embarrassment and looked at Gloria.
"Gloria," He called out in a low voice to show that he was awake.
On the bed, Gloria moved. She said, "My feet are cold."
Patrick immediately stood up. "You feel cold? Let me warm your feet. You won't feel cold soon."
Gloria believed him. Her cold feet were snuggled into a warm embrace. Even if she had long been accustomed to her feet being as cold as ice, she relaxed her brows at that moment.
"Have you remembered anything recently?" She asked as if they were chatting.
Patrick knelt at the end of the bed and said, "Gloria, why do you ask so? And so was Stewart. You keep asking me if I remember anything. Did I forget something?"
His bright eyes reflected the street lights outside. Gloria opened her mouth, but she didn't know what to say.
"Gloria, what should I remember? If I forget something, and you remember it, you can tell me," Patrick asked innocently.
Gloria clenched her hands under the quilt. After a while, she said, "Why did you protect me that night?"
She asked evasively.
"It hurt. Aren't you afraid of pain the most?" Gloria said gently and then pursed her lips.
"Yes. But Gloria, I don't want you to get hurt. That night, when I saw you being beaten, I felt hurt. I didn't know why. I wanted to hold you tightly and hide you," Patrick replied in a serious tone.
Gloria's shoulder stiffened.
The light shone through the window, and they gradually adapted to the darkness in the room.
Gloria could see Patrick vaguely. He covered his chest and said, "Gloria, when you ignore me, I feel hurt here. Am I sick?"
Gloria clenched her hands in the quilt once again. Her palms were wet with sweat.
Patrick asked her in a daze if she was sick.
Gloria stared at him for a long time. She opened her mouth several times but found that she could say nothing.
"My feet are warm now." After a while, she broke the silence. It seemed that it was the only sentence she could say.
Gloria knew clearly that Patrick was not in his right mind. So, she shouldn't take his words seriously.
She laughed at herself. The sweetest love words she had heard in her life were from a fool. How ridiculous it was!
"Let me check." Patrick pressed Gloria's feet against his face.
Gloria was still lost in thought and didn't pay much attention to what he said or did.
When she glanced at him out of the corner of her eye, she was both shy and astonished. She took her feet back. "What are you doing?"
Patrick put her feet down in satisfaction and covered them with the blanket and said, "They are warm now."
Gloria understood, and her face blushed again. She roared, "Even if you want to know whether they are warm, you don't have to try it with your face!"
Patrick put her feet to his face, just to see if her feet were warm! When she thought of that, Gloria panicked.
She couldn't see her flushed face. Because of anger, her eyes became a little wet. Patrick was stunned when looking at her.
"Gloria, don't be angry with me. I'll get out of bed now." Patrick was about to get out of bed.
"Wait." Gloria grabbed her pajamas.
"What?" Patrick stopped. One of his feet was at the end of the bed, and the other was on the ground. He turned around and stared at Gloria. "What did you say?"
Gloria hesitated. She lowered her eyes and said, "You can sleep on the bed."
"What?" Patrick asked.
"I said, I'll make an exception tonight. You can sleep on the bed," Gloria repeated with a red face.
"Sleep on the bed?" Patrick asked dumbly.
There was a hint of anger in Gloria's eyes. "Stop asking. It suddenly cooled down. If you have a fever again, Stewart and the others will blame me. I don't want to take care of you."
She moved to the side and pointed to the bed. "Sleep here."
Patrick was overjoyed and pounced on the bed beside Gloria.
"Take your blanket. Sleep with your blanket. Don't touch me without my permission."
Patrick grabbed his blanket and got onto the bed again.
Gloria could feel Patrick's movements. She bit her lip and hesitated.
She thought, 'It should be fine. He is just a child now.'
"Go to sleep." She moved aside and left more room for Patrick.
Patrick lay down. He turned sideways and looked at the back of Gloria's head.
He thought. 'Gloria is so kind.'
While Gloria was asleep, she felt as if someone was pressing down on her body. She pushed but failed.
When she woke up, Patrick gave her a big surprise.
"Why are you under my quilt?" Gloria was angry and pushed the person next to her.
Patrick was caught off guard. He opened his eyes and said, "Morning, Gloria."
Looking at his sleepy face, Gloria was more furious. "Patrick, I told you not to touch me. You can't do this!"
Patrick got up in a panic. He explained hurriedly, "I didn't know. Gloria, don't be mad at me."
He got up too hurriedly and fell on Gloria again.
Gloria's eyes widened when she felt something warm pressing against her. She was stunned for a few seconds.
