Outside a VIP ward in the hospital, an unexpected figure appeared.
"Let him in." In the ward, Patrick nodded.
The door opened, and Ellison walked in.
"You're really well-informed," Patrick said coldly, his lips pale.
"I have my sources. No matter how well you hide it, you can't guarantee that your subordinates won't give themselves away," Ellison said calmly.
Patrick smiled, "You don't have to be in such a hurry even though you covet the Hammond Group. After I die, it will be all yours."
"Come on." Ellison sat down on a chair. "If you die, all your assets will be given to her."
Although he didn't say who she was, Patrick, who was lying on the bed, had a glint in his eyes. "You know me well."
"No." Ellison waved his index finger. "It just so happened that I saw a lawyer walk out of the hospital. That lawyer was hired by you personally to serve you and the Hammond Group."
"Did you find me just like that?" Patrick asked. He was already sure.
"You pursued Gloria so crazily and used all your methods. You even acted like a fool. I didn't believe that you had given up on her. So, I investigated it and found out." Ellison shrugged.
"You have some tricks up your sleeve."
"I can't compare to you. You're almost dead, and no one knows about it yet. Nothing has happened in the group. Even Alex doesn't know about it. If I tell him that you're about to die, do you think he'll cry?" Ellison said deliberately.
"He will shed some tears and take over the Hammond Group in one go. Then, he might go to the cemetery to reminisce about me."
Upon hearing Patrick's words, Ellison laughed so hard that tears almost flowed out of his eyes. "You know him well."
"Of course." On the bed, Patrick pursed his lips coldly.
"But I guess your lawyer came here to help you make a will. After you die, she will get all your property. Looks like Alex is going to be disappointed. I think I shouldn't tell him. Otherwise, all his efforts will go in vain. He is old." Ellison mocked with a smile.
On the hospital bed, Patrick chuckled, "So you came here today to discuss this with me?" His eyes clearly showed his disbelief. "Ellison, he won't care if I die. He has another grandson who can inherit his position."
Ellison laughed sarcastically, "Do you think I want to go back to that filthy place?"
"You don't want the Hammond Group?" Patrick said coldly. "I'm afraid you will be disappointed."
"The Hammond Group." Ellison glanced at Patrick and looked out the window. "I want it. Will you give it to me?"
"If not, you'll snatch it, right?"
"I will definitely snatch it if it is yours," Ellison announced his ambition. "But if you die, I won't snatch it from her."
Patrick narrowed his eyes and looked over. "You truly love her."
"You are dying. Her matter has nothing to do with you," Ellison said and stood up. "I have paid my visit to you. Now, I am leaving."
"You came to see me? Seriously?" Patrick didn't believe him.
"I came to see if you were really dying. After all, we are brothers. Do you think I want to see you?" Ellison answered.
Ellison retorted sarcastically, "But don't worry. After you die, I won't take over the Hammond Group."
Patrick, who was lying on the bed, fell silent. He said, "Alright, remember what you said today."
"Bye." Ellison waved his hand and left with his other hand in his pocket.
Hank came in. "Alpha Patrick, Sean is here."
"He came out?" Patrick raised his head. "Harry got out of the capsule. That's right. It's almost time to come out."
Sean, who was at the door, had changed into a white coat. "You still care about that bastard?"
In his hand were Patrick's medical records. "The tumor in your brain has oppressed your visual nerves and central nervous system. Do you really want surgery?"
Sean was not in a good mood. As soon as he left the capsule, he learned about Patrick's condition.
"Back then, you pretended to be crazy and said that there were blood clots in your brain. Now, there really is something in your brain. Why are you still laughing? Do you know how bad your condition is?" Sean looked serious. "The rate of failure of this surgery is very high. Even if it succeeds, you will probably be paralyzed and blind."
"I must do it." Patrick looked calm, as if he weren't the one who was seriously ill. "I've enjoyed everything in my life. Except for one thing."
Patrick paused. "Forget it. It's all over."
Sean snorted, "Is it? Why didn't you say that back then? You are strange. You wanted to be with her no matter what. Once you got sick, you chased her away."
Sean felt a little upset. "Now I completely believe that you truly love her."
Patrick remained silent.
Sean felt bored.
"I heard that she was going back to Waikiki Beach," Sean said.
Patrick stiffened. After a while, he said in a hoarse voice, "She likes that place. It's a nice place."
"You won't see her again? It might be the last meeting." Sean didn't want to say such depressing words, but as a pack doctor, he knew how bad Patrick's condition was.
"No." Patrick turned to look out the window. "She hates me. I knew it all along."
Sean thought about it and respected Patrick's choice. "Why didn't you tell me earlier that you got narcolepsy? The success rate of the surgery would be 60 percent if your illness had been discovered half a year ago."
"But she and I have had the happiest time." Even though he was pretending to lose his memories, those were his happiest days.
Sean shook his head and turned to leave.
"Are you leaving just like that?" Christine came to see Gloria off.
"Christine, thank you for taking care of me all these years."
"If you leave, what about the Carter Group?" Christine asked.
"Harry has recovered. I have made arrangements for the Carter Group. Mandy will do most of the work during Harry's recovery and will help Harry take over the Carter Group."
"Yes, you have arranged everything. You considered Harry's condition, Mandy's position, and even Camille's future life. You have arranged everything about the Carter Group. Have you not considered Alpha Patrick?" Christine said sharply.
"He let me go," Gloria said.
"Did he let you go, or did you want to go?" Christine pressed on.
"Is there any difference?" Gloria was a little angry. "I don't want to be entangled with him like this anymore. I want to return to a peaceful life. I have the right, don't I? He said it himself. He was tired of this game and me."
The more Gloria said, the more annoyed she became. "He and I shouldn't have been together. What do you know?"
"Right, I don't know anything. I only want to ask you, Gloria, do you still love him?"
Gloria fell silent.
Did she still love him?
"I just want to live in peace from now on."
