Damon's strange behavior made Leonard suspicious. Leonard glanced at the documents and pushed Damon away, who was about to pounce on him to snatch them back. He asked again, "What are these?"
"Nothing!" Damon sounded nervous.
"Then why did you come to Alpha Patrick's study at this time?" Leonard didn't believe what Damon said.
According to the rules, he was not supposed to read this document. However, other than being suspicious, he was also curious about what could make Damon so nervous.
Leonard pushed Damon with one hand while holding the document with the other. He didn't intend to read it and only tried to scare Damon. He said, "Why can't I read the document? What is it about? If you don't tell me, I'll read it now."
However, Leonard glanced at the documents from the corner of his eye, and his expression immediately turned serious.
He ignored Damon and scanned the document.
Damon rushed toward Leonard and shouted anxiously, "No!"
Leonard pushed Damon and he staggered.
"Damon, is this true?" Leonard asked in disbelief.
He turned to look at another folder on the desk and recalled that he saw Damon switching documents just now.
Leonard picked up the folder on the table without hesitation. He opened it hurriedly and looked through the document in it.
The documents in the two folders were completely different.
Leonard could tell which one was real and which one was fake.
If the document in Damon's hand were fake, he would not have to sneak into Patrick's study.
Damon sat on the ground, depressed. He suddenly grabbed Leonard and begged, "Please don't tell Alpha Patrick."
Leonard was shocked by his reaction!
"Just pretend that you don't know about this. I'm begging you! Leonard, Gabrielle has always been kind and gentle. How could she do such a thing? It was all because of Gloria! Gabrielle knew that Gloria was Alpha Patrick's mate, though Alpha Patrick didn't accept her at that time. Gabrielle liked Alpha Patrick too much, so she made a bad decision. Moreover, Gabrielle was raped by those rogues because Gloria missed their appointment. She had made up for her mistake with her life. Was it not enough?" Damon cried miserably.
Damon continued with tears in his eyes, "Leonard, Gabrielle did the wrong thing but it was all because of Gloria. Now, Gloria has become the Luna of the Black Thorn Pack as she wished, yet she still wants to investigate what happened a few years ago. Gabrielle is dead. She is my only sister, and I hope that she will be remembered as a gentle, kind, and timid girl in Alpha Patrick's heart. Leonard, I beg you. Just pretend that you have never seen me here tonight. I will never let Gabrielle be scolded after she dies. I know that you have liked Gabrielle since you were young. You will help her, right?"
Leonard was tense. When Damon mentioned that he had liked Gabrielle since he was young, he made his decision.
"Damon, answer my question. Did you know the truth all this time?" Leonard asked.
"Gabrielle mentioned it to me once. She said that she only wanted to threaten Gloria and took some photos. She would not allow those rogues to do anything to Gloria. She only hoped that Gloria would stay away from Alpha Patrick. I thought she was kidding. After all, Gabrielle had been a timid girl since she was a child."
Leonard clenched his fists and closed his eyes. He threw the document in front of Damon and said seriously, "Remember, I am not doing this for you. I am doing this for the sake of Gabrielle's reputation and her image in Alpha Patrick's heart. I won't mention what I saw today."
With that, Leonard turned and left. His pale face showed how much he was suffering from deep down in his heart.
Leonard walked downstairs and heard someone talking.
It was Gloria!
Leonard missed his step accidentally, but he managed to keep his balance quickly.
Gloria had her back to him. Hearing the noise, she turned around and looked at Leonard.
Leonard's heart skipped a beat. He suddenly felt sorry for Gloria.
He glared at her coldly and gave her an unfriendly look on purpose.
Gloria looked away indifferently. She did not care about his attitude toward her.
Leonard thought of the documents he had just read. Every sentence on them was accusing him of having no ground for his disgust for Gloria.
He could have hated Gloria justly. But now, he couldn't.
Leonard felt strange and walked past Gloria without greeting her "Luna". He left hurriedly with a strange sense of guilt.
"Beta Kevin, today is Camille's birthday. I need to go back to the Silver Spring Pack," Gloria said to Kevin.
"Does Alpha Patrick know?" Kevin was loyal to the Alpha of the Black Thorn Pack, not Gloria.
Gloria took out her phone from her bag and dialed a number while smiling at Kevin. "I'll ask him now."
After the call was connected, she said a few words to Patrick. Afraid that he would not agree, she suggested, "If you are worried, I'll ask Christine to go with me."
Kevin stood respectfully at the side and watched Gloria.
Gloria hung up the phone and reached out her hand to Kevin. She showed him the phone screen, and the latest call record was Patrick's name.
Gloria said, "Kevin, Patrick agreed. He wanted Christine to accompany me. I will call Christine right now."
Without waiting for Kevin to say anything, Gloria continued, "I got a stain on my clothes this morning. I need to go upstairs and get changed."
She turned around and walked upstairs.
As Gloria walked, she looked at Kevin out of the corner of her eye.
She did not know much about the newly appointed Beta and was not sure if she could fool him.
She did not call Patrick just now. She only added the name of Patrick to a random number.
Everyone had hidden something from Gloria, and Gloria did not want to be a fool in front of them.
Gloria walked into the bedroom and picked a simple dress. Then, she took out her phone and called Christine. "Christine, if there is a chance to prove my innocence, will you help me?"
As soon as Christine picked up the call, she heard Gloria's straightforward question.
She froze for a moment. Gradually, her face relaxed, and her eyes softened. She answered firmly, "I will."
Christine did not say much, but her words made Gloria's cold heart warmer.
