"Would Grandfather do something that doesn't benefit him?" Patrick sneered. "I didn't get it at first. But do you know what he said yesterday in the hospital? He said that he told me when I was a child that, one day, if there would be a woman who could affect my mood, then he would not hesitate to destroy her."
After finishing speaking, Patrick clenched his fists. Only he knew that he was about to go crazy from anger right now!
"That is why he hurt Gloria! It turned out that even he could tell how much influence Gloria had on me, yet I had no idea. What a fool I was! What's more, I was stupid enough to throw her into werewolf prison, putting her through all that she didn't deserve!" Patrick clenched his fists, suppressing his anger.
"Really? Just because of that?" Ellison couldn't believe his ears. He thought, 'For that reason, he nearly destroyed an entire Alpha bloodline?'
Patrick glanced at Ellison mockingly and said sarcastically, "Of course, he wouldn't deliberately set up a trap to destroy Gloria, but everyone gave him a chance to do so. Gabrielle, Damon, you, and me, everyone offered him a chance."
He thought, 'If Gabrielle didn't plan to ruin Gloria, then Ellison wouldn't have had the opportunity to buy off the rogues, Gabrielle wouldn't have been insulted by them, and Grandfather wouldn't have had the opportunity to hint Damon to kill Gabrielle and then blame it on Gloria.
Yet at that time, I was self-righteous and hated Gloria and thought she deserved it.
Back then, I would not go any further, nor would I take the slightest effort to prove her innocence. I figured that the evidence was concrete anyway.'
Ellison was shocked. Before this, he simply thought that what happened that year was a tragedy caused by his prank on a whim. He had always thought Gloria was in bad luck and was implicated. Other than guilt, he was more sympathetic to her.
As for Gabrielle, he knew that she wasn't a decent woman to begin with. Moreover, he knew that Damon himself was responsible for Gabrielle's death.
Yet at this moment, Ellison felt that his heart was in turmoil.
He thought, 'It turns out that Gloria was not simply being implicated. Her life was doomed from the start.
Four years ago, I happened to know that Gabrielle was going to do something to Gloria, and I took the chance to buy off those rogues so as to influence Patrick. In such a way, he would lose the bet, and his prestige in the pack would be diminished.
It was a war for power. The participants were intact, yet Gloria paid a bloody price.
She has been suffering from these terrible accusations. Suddenly, I have a strong desire to know Gloria.'
"How did you find out about these things? You might be able to find out what Damon and I did, but what about Grandfather? I don't believe he would leave a trail for you to get back to him." Ellison looked at Patrick coldly.
Since Patrick told Ellison everything, he didn't mind telling Ellison a bit more. "Are you still able to reach Grandfather and his men?"
Ellison's eyes flickered, and a thought crossed his mind. He immediately picked up his phone and dialed the familiar number, and all he got was a busy tone.
He still did not buy it. He glanced at Patrick and then called Alex's trusted aide, yet no one picked up either.
"Did you take Grandfather hostage?" Ellison looked at Patrick in shock.
Patrick didn't answer. Instead, he continued, "It's the Black Thorn Pack's business. You don't have to worry about that. Since you already know what you should know, Ellison, tell me. Where is she?"
"I don't know." Ellison shrugged. He was telling the truth.
Patrick narrowed his eyes and looked at Ellison. After pondering for a minute, he turned around and left decisively.
Patrick thought, 'It doesn't matter what Ellison says. I don't bother to tell if his words are true for now.
Since I can't get the answer I want here, I don't have to waste my time anymore.'
After leaving Ellison's villa and getting into the car, Patrick pulled a long face. He ordered coldly, "Keep an eye on him."
"Yes," Hank replied.
"Alpha Patrick, what should we do about those rogues?" Hank thought for a moment and asked.
"Leave them be. I don't have the time to deal with those idiots now," Patrick said impatiently.
"Where are we going now?" the driver asked cautiously.
"Silver Spring Pack." Patrick's hawk-like cold eyes instantly dropped.
The car arrived at Silver Spring Pack.
Alger welcomed Patrick into the house with a smile. "Alpha Patrick, what brings you here?"
"Do you know why I came here last after Gloria disappeared?" Patrick asked.
"What? Gloria disappeared?" Alger revealed a look of shock.
Patrick looked annoyed. He said, "Alger, drop the act. Do you think I can't tell that you're a phony? The reason why I came to Silver Spring Pack last isn't because you are the least suspicious person. It's because you are her parents."
Patrick didn't say who she was, but everyone present knew that he was referring to Gloria.
Alger immediately panicked. From Patrick's tone and attitude, he sensed that things this time might get tricky.
However, what he knew even better was that once he told Patrick what he knew, the situation would be more dangerous for him.
"Alpha Patrick, do you think we hide Gloria from you?" Alger said. Then he raised his hand and said solemnly, "I swear to the Moon Goddess, I, Alger Carter, the Alpha of Silver Spring Pack, have no idea where Gloria is! If I break my oath, Silver Spring Pack will disappear from Gabbs!"
The look on Patrick's face was not that serious anymore. He knew very well that Silver Spring Pack meant everything to Alger. The fact that Alger swore at Silver Spring Pack made him realize that Alger was telling the truth. Alger did not know where Gloria was.
Patrick didn't say anything anymore. He turned around and left with his men at once, since he didn't want to waste any second. He had to find her as soon as possible.
Time passed quickly. It had been five days since Gloria had disappeared.
Patrick, who was in the study, exuded a cold aura.
As he expected, Ellison was not innocent. Hank had been following Ellison in secret, and he saw Ellison going to the taxi driver who had taken Gloria back then. Then Ellison didn't do anything else.
Patrick was surprised that Ellison was thinking the same way he was. He put on a self-mocking smile.
He thought, 'Back then, all of us were part of this, whether we intended it or not. Gloria ended up being the scapegoat, and her life was ruined.
And who would have thought that Gloria managed to fool everyone?'
"Gloria, well done," he smiled bitterly.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.
"Come in," Patrick said.
"Alpha Patrick, it's me." It was Christine.
Patrick's figure approached from afar, making Christine feel enveloped by a black shadow.
Christine's eyelids twitched. She did not dare to make any sudden moves.
On her way here, she had already figured out why Patrick wanted her here. She was the last person who talked to Gloria, which made her very suspicious.
She hesitated about telling Patrick the truth.
However, Gloria's story reminded her of her past.
She was eager to help Gloria escape, since to some extent, it was the way to help her old self.
After listening to the story between Gloria and Patrick, she began to understand Gloria. After all, who could forgive a person who had broken her heart so utterly?
Even Christine could not go against her conscience and choose to forgive Patrick because of his identity.
Christine was not Gloria, and she could not forgive Patrick on behalf of Gloria. If she were Gloria, then she would find it even more impossible to let go of everything that had happened.
