Torn Between my Alpha Mates

Chapter 150: An Uncanny Encounter Part 2

Ch. 150 / 177 Dec 10, 2025

Zoya's P.O.V

I made my way to the kitchen with a big smile on my face, ready to cook us the dinner that I had been wanting to for quite some time now, but my plan got delayed because of all the recent difficulties that we had been going through.

As I gathered the ingredients and started prepping for dinner, chopping the vegetables and preparing the meat, the aroma of spices began to fill the air, wrapping me in a sense of nostalgia.

My mom's recipes had always been a source of solace, a taste of home that I could carry with me no matter where life took me. Even if she hadn’t been the best mother, I couldn’t deny that she was a good cook, and her food had always provided me comfort and warmth despite the lack of such things in my childhood.

I had just set the rice to boil in a large pot filled with a mixture of water and broth, and had moved on to chopping the rest of the vegetables when a sudden, icy sensation slithered down my spine.

It was as if a ghostly hand had brushed against my skin, leaving a lingering unease in its wake. My knife hovered over the cutting board as I turned, my senses on high alert.

The room seemed unchanged – the soft glow of the kitchen lights, the comforting warmth of the stove – yet the atmosphere had shifted, heavy with an unseen presence.

My heart began to race, and I took a deep breath, trying to quell the rising panic within me.

"Ezra?" I called tentatively, my voice betraying a hint of unease. There was no response, just the faint hum of the refrigerator and the distant sounds of the evening outside. Yet…there seemed to be an underlining of something eerie in the air, a quietness that seemed almost unnatural.

I forced myself to resume chopping the vegetables, convincing myself that it was just my imagination playing tricks on me, considering that I had so many things going on in my mind.

But as I reached for a pot to start cooking the curry, the feeling intensified. It was as if a pair of eyes were boring into my back, an unrelenting gaze that sent a shiver down my spine.

A bead of sweat formed on my forehead, despite the coolness of the kitchen.

My movements became almost mechanical as I stirred the aromatics in the pan, my mind racing with questions and fears. Could it be an enemy spy from another pack, lurking nearby, watching me?

No, this was different. It was more intense, more sinister. The air seemed to thicken, the silence almost deafening. I felt exposed, vulnerable in the midst of an unseen threat.

My gaze darted around the room, searching for any sign of intrusion, any explanation for the creeping dread that gripped me. But yet again…nothing seemed out of place. Nothing jumped out at me from the comfort of my new home.

But the feeling not only remained…it seemed to intensify with each passing second.

Suddenly, I noticed the knife in my hand, and a train of horrible, horrible thoughts crossed my mind.

I should just kill myself. Oh, how easy would it be to take this knife and stab myself with it. Maybe slit my throat and let all the blood gush out. Or perhaps I could drive it straight into my stomach and take my baby with me.

How beautiful it would be to finally embrace the solace of death, wouldn’t it? What good was living this life, anyway?

And I’ll take my baby with me so she wouldn’t feel alone. What kind of mother would that make me if I simply left her inside my corpse, unable to fend for herself?

At that moment, the kitchen that had once felt warm and familiar now seemed to close in around me, its walls bearing witness to an invisible presence that I couldn't shake off.

My heart raced, and a feeling of dread settled in the pit of my stomach as if some malevolent force had taken hold of the air itself.

I realized what I was thinking about and shook myself out of it. What the hell was that? Why did I think of such things? Why did I want to hurt myself, and worse, my own child?

It terrified me, and I let go of the knife, fearing myself. What if I lost control and actually did it?

The knife fell on the marble counter with a clatter of a sound and the overhead lights reflected off of the metal surface with an almost menacing glow…

But now, even though I already let go of the damn thing and had shaken the horrible thoughts from my mind, something else arose…

“Blood…”

The voices, though faint at first, grew more insistent, like a chorus of shadows hissing and whispering all around me.

It was as if I had stumbled into a realm where the living and the ethereal converged, a place where sinister desires and primal fears mingled.

Their words were a cacophony of demands, a chorus of otherworldly desires that clawed at the edges of my mind.

"Give us your blood..."

"Offer the child..."

The chilling words echoed in my ears, their malevolence sinking into the very core of my being.

The pressure in the room became suffocating, each whispered demand more chilling than the last.

I tried to call out, to scream, but my voice felt trapped, unable to break free from the invisible grip that held me captive.

My gaze fixated on the gleam of steel in the dim light, a glint that seemed to mirror the cold intentions of the voices.

The knife sat innocently on the countertop, yet its presence was sinister, a symbol of the darkness that had enveloped the room.

I wanted to move, to flee from the nightmarish chorus that surrounded me.

But my limbs felt heavy, as if invisible chains bound me to the spot. Panic rose within me, my breaths coming in rapid gasps as the whispered demands grew louder, more insistent, drowning out all rational thought.

I watched, unable to tear my eyes away, as the knife seemed to call to me, its blade almost pulsating with a malevolent energy.

The glimmering reflection of light danced on its surface, casting eerie shadows across the room.
