Torn Between my Alpha Mates

Chapter 171: A Victory Nonetheless

Ch. 171 / 177 Dec 10, 2025

Silas’s P.O.V

The malevolent entity began to unravel, disintegrating into nothingness, wisps of shadow evaporating into thin air.

As the demon dissolved, a shockwave reverberated through the room. It was accompanied by a deafening roar, like the sound of a thunderclap amplified a hundredfold.

The sheer force of the eruption shattered every glass surface within the house, sending shards of glass hurtling through the air like deadly, crystalline shrapnel.

I felt a searing pain as some of those glass fragments embedded themselves in my skin. The stinging cuts were a small price to pay for our newfound liberation.

But our relief was short-lived — the glass was the least of our worries.

Amidst the chaos and destruction, the inferno of light that had consumed the demon gave way to an inferno of a different kind.

Fire erupted from every corner of the room, licking at the walls and engulfing our surroundings with a ravenous hunger. The once-sturdy structure of the house groaned and creaked as flames danced along its wooden frame.

The intense heat pressed upon us, making it difficult to breathe.

The walls, weakened by the supernatural battle and now consumed by fire, began to crumble, showering us with debris and dust.

It was as if the very foundations of the house were rebelling against the malevolence that had festered within its walls for so long.

Our escape became a race against time and the encroaching flames.

We had vanquished the demon, but the cost was the destruction of the house that had borne witness to so much suffering.

Amidst the roaring blaze and crumbling timbers, we rushed out of the old house, the deafening roar of the flames and the collapsing structure filling our ears.

The wall groaned and teetered forward… right towards Anika!

I quickly moved toward her and pulled her to safety. I could feel the blistering heat licking at my back as I brought her to safety, but I paid it no heed. Her life was my responsibility, and I couldn't allow her to be buried beneath the crumbling ruins.

I spared a moment to glance back, relieved that we had made it out in the nick of time. Anika's safety was paramount.

Outside, we joined the others who had managed to escape the blazing inferno.

We watched as the very house that had held the demon captive erupted in a spectacular explosion.

It was a sight to behold, a blazing maw of fire and fury, sending shards of amber-colored debris rocketing into the night sky like a shower of molten stars.

The flames painted an eerie, haunting tableau against the backdrop of the dark night. But as we gazed upon the conflagration, we noticed something extraordinary amidst the chaos.

Hundreds of tiny, radiant orbs of light emerged from the heart of the inferno, like celestial fireflies set free.

These ethereal lights ascended into the heavens, each one carrying with it a piece of the demon's malevolent essence.

It was as if the curse, the darkness, and the suffering it had wrought were being released, vanquished by the fierce battle that had unfolded within the old house.

The orbs of light ascended higher and higher, gradually dissipating into the inky expanse of the night, leaving behind a profound sense of awe and triumph.

Lady Amber's voice cut through the crackling of the dwindling flames, her words carrying an air of ancient wisdom. "They’re the spirits," she began, "that the demon had kept locked up in hell while feeding off of their pain. Those spirits are now going to heaven where they really belong."

I watched in awe as the multitude of glowing orbs ascended into the night sky, their collective ascent like a choir of souls finding redemption.

But then, amongst this celestial congregation, one orb caught my attention.

It hovered in the heavens for a brief moment, its radiant glow pulsing with an otherworldly light. My gaze shifted to Ezra, and our eyes locked in a silent exchange of recognition and understanding.

In that suspended moment, it became clear to both of us.

The orb, the ethereal light that lingered for an extra heartbeat in its ascent, was none other than Lily.

She had found her peace, her salvation, and this was her way of bidding us farewell. The connection we shared with her, one that had been torn asunder by the demon's curse, was momentarily rekindled in that shimmering, otherworldly glow.

As the orb continued its journey skyward, we stood together, our hearts heavy with bittersweet emotions.

Lily's final goodbye had reached us through the language of the spirits, a testament to the enduring strength of love and the power of redemption.

The once-raging inferno gradually succumbed to the combined efforts of the spirits and the elements, the flames reduced to a smoldering pile of ash and ember.

It was as if the very earth had absorbed the malevolence that had haunted our old house.

Amid the fading echoes of the spirits' ascent, the night air was filled with a newfound calm, a stark contrast to the chaos that had reigned just moments ago.

The stars, obscured by smoke and turmoil, now reemerged, their distant light twinkling with serenity above.

Gathering around the remnants of our once-cherished home, the pack members arrived one by one, drawn by the enigmatic display they had witnessed in the sky.

Their faces bore expressions of curiosity, concern, and relief, mirroring the tumultuous events that had unfolded.

I, still standing amidst the remnants of the house, turned to face the approaching pack, my voice ringing out with exhaustion and gratitude.

"We've been through something...unimaginable," I began, struggling to find words that could encapsulate the night's events. "But it's over. We've broken the curse, and the spirits are finally free."

It was a bittersweet victory, but it was a victory nonetheless.

They began to assess the damage and offer their assistance in any way they could, the bonds of the pack growing stronger in the face of adversity.
