Torn Between my Alpha Mates

Chapter 162: A United Front Part 1

Ch. 162 / 177 Dec 10, 2025

Zoya’s P.O.V

As I watched Ezra and Silas reconcile, a sense of relief washed over me. The tension that had gripped the room seemed to disperse like mist under the morning sun, a rainbow after a seemingly endless storm.

Seeing the brothers come together after a long while of strife was a heartening sight, and it gave me hope that we could face the challenges ahead as a united front.

Yet, even as this rift was healed, a sense of urgency gnawed at my insides.

The demon's presence still loomed, its malevolent influence threatening to tear us apart once again.

I could sense the crushing weight of the responsibility resting on our shoulders, a weight that pressed down on me like a heavy cloak.

On instinct, my hands moved protectively over my stomach, as though shielding my baby from the terrors of the world outside.

With a determined exhale, I turned my attention back to Lady Athena. "We can't waste any time. We need to find a way to kill the demon and free Lily's soul from hell. The longer we wait, the more dangerous it becomes."

Lady Athena's gaze bore into me like a persistent beam of light. "You are right, Zoya. The demon's influence will only grow stronger with time. We need a plan to confront it and break the curse."

Silas's expression hardened, his resolve echoing my own. "We can't allow this curse to consume our family any longer. Lily deserves peace, and we must ensure that no one else falls victim to the demon's manipulation."

Ezra nodded in agreement, his eyes reflecting determination. "We'll do whatever it takes to end this. The demon needs to be taken care of as soon as possible, or we’ll all be in grave danger." His eyes dropped to the floor, hesitating. Then, he said, “And… Lily’s soul needs to be free from the shackles of hell.”

I could feel the collective determination in the room, a shared commitment to putting an end to the darkness that had plagued us for so long.

Lady Athena's spell had provided a temporary shield, but we couldn't rely on it forever.

It was up to us to take action, to face the demon head-on and put an end to its malevolent reign.

To bring everyone's attention back to the matter at hand, I asked, "What do we need to do or have in order to get rid of this demon?"

Lady Athena considered this question thoughtfully. "I believe that the dagger that was used to kill Ezra’s mother would be preferable, that is if you can find it."

Lady Athena's words hung tensely in the air as we all absorbed her suggestion.

The very dagger that had taken my late mother-in-law's life could hold the key to defeating the demon that had plagued us for so long.

The idea of using the same weapon that had caused so much pain to finally end it all was both unsettling and oddly poetic.

I turned to Lady Athena again. "Do you think the dagger will really work?"

Lady Athena met my gaze with a solemn nod. "The dagger holds a connection to the curse, and its use in this ritual could help weaken the demon's hold. But remember, it won't be an easy task. The demon will fight to protect its source of power."

Silas's voice cut through the tension. "I have the dagger Lily used… on herself." He seemed to be struggling to get those words out, like he still couldn't wrap his head around it. "I took it from Lily's… body after her death. I wanted to run DNA tests on it to find out who was responsible for her murder. If it can help break this curse, I'll get it."

Ezra placed a reassuring hand on Silas's shoulder. "Thank you, Silas. Your willingness to help means a lot."

Silas nodded, his expression resolute. "I'll retrieve the dagger as soon as possible. We can't waste any more time."

"Come here, child," the old woman beckoned.

Silas approached her, and she revealed a red string in her hand, intricately woven and adorned with herbs that emitted a faint, earthy fragrance.

I watched as she carefully tied the string around his wrist, her touch gentle yet infused with the weight of ancient knowledge. Like she was a mother preparing her son for war.

"These herbs will create a protective barrier," Lady Athena explained, her voice carrying a soothing authority. "They'll ward off the demon's influence while you search for the dagger.

But remember, the string cannot protect you for long outside the protective barrier. You must return before the string turns completely black."

Silas's expression was a painting of gratitude and determination and… fear? My heart leaped to him in that moment, and I felt sorry that he was given a task so daunting. Still… we had no choice.

"I understand," he said. "I won't waste a moment."
