Torn Between my Alpha Mates

Chapter 153: Is This the Right Choice? Part 2

Ch. 153 / 177 Dec 10, 2025

Zoya's P.O.V

The atmosphere in the car shifted, the weight of the conversation hanging heavily in the air. The scenic beauty of the mountainous landscape passing by seemed incongruent with the gravity of the situation we were discussing.

Gustav's eyes focused on the road ahead. "Zoya, we need to tread carefully. If Anika is involved in whatever's happening, we must be cautious."

Cam's gaze met mine in the rearview mirror, her concern palpable. "Agreed. We don't know what we're walking into, so we need to be vigilant."

"Do you trust Anika?" I finally voiced my doubt, my voice laced with uncertainty.

Gustav's gaze flicked towards me, his expression thoughtful. "Trust isn't an easy thing, especially in situations like this. But I believe in keeping our options open. If Anika can shed light on what's happening, we can't afford to dismiss it."

Cam nodded in agreement, her features determined. "And if she's responsible for any of this, we need to uncover the truth. We have a responsibility to our pack."

I offered a grateful smile, feeling the weight of their support and camaraderie. The uncertainty of the situation was overwhelming, but having Gustav and Cam by my side gave me a glimmer of hope in the face of the unknown.

“She waits for you at the borders of the pack,” Cam told me, “so you two can talk. That’s where we’re headed right now.”

The pack territories stretched before us, a familiar landscape of towering trees and winding paths. As the car pulled to a stop, my heart pounded in my chest as I spotted the black vehicle already parked and waiting for us.

Exiting the car, I walked over to Anika's waiting vehicle. The tension was palpable, my every step heavy with a mixture of apprehension and determination. Gustav and Cam followed close behind, their task to keep their eyes and senses open and alert at all times, even though Anika seemed to be alone.

The forest was silent, almost as if the trees were holding their breaths.

The border between the pack territories within the Sapphire Mountains held an air of tranquil mystique.

Towering trees stood like ancient sentinels, their branches intertwined to create a natural canopy overhead. Sunlight filtered through the lush foliage, dappling the ground with golden patches of warmth.

The forest floor was a tapestry of fallen leaves, soft moss, and wildflowers. The earthy scent of pine mingled with the sweet fragrance of wild blooms, creating a heady aroma that seemed to dance on the breeze.

Birds flitted about, their melodic chirps echoing through the woods.

A few meters away, stood a black SUV, completely out of place in the midst of the natural surroundings. However, the sight of her leaning against it, her posture confident and composed, brought a mix of emotions.

I knew there was a delicate balance between trust and caution when it came to Anika. Despite our differences, there was a shared understanding that compelled me to seek her guidance

Anika's dark hair caught the sunlight, creating an ethereal halo around her. Her eyes met mine as I approached, and a small smile played on her lips. The tension that had once existed between us seemed to have eased, replaced by a common purpose.

The air felt charged with anticipation as I reached her side. The towering trees seemed to form a natural boundary, a silent witness to our meeting.

"Zoya," she greeted, her voice carrying a note of respect. "I'm glad you came."

I nodded, my gaze steady as I returned her smile. "I believe you have something to share with me."

She looked at me, her expression a mix of seriousness and something I couldn't quite place.

"Zoya," Anika began, her voice low and tinged with urgency, "before we discuss anything further, I need you to understand that what I'm about to propose might seem unconventional."

Cam and Gustav exchanged wary glances behind me, their skepticism mirroring my own.

“I spoke to my grandmother about what’s been happening,” she told me, her expression pensive. “I even showed her the bracelet that had changed color that day. And…she wanted to talk to you in person. She’s an expert in crafts and culture that often transcend human and werewolf realms and imaginations…so, it’ll be better if she explains everything to you instead of me.

The thought of visiting her grandmother, who was supposedly an expert in voodoo and magic, made a shiver run down my spine.

The notion was both intriguing and unsettling, my mind struggling to process the implications.

Gustav's voice was cautious as he spoke up. "Anika, we need to be careful here. We can't simply walk into something we don't understand."

Anika's gaze shifted between us, her expression frustrated and urgent. "I know it's a risk, but I wouldn't suggest it if I didn't believe it could help. My grandmother possesses knowledge that might shed light on the situation, and we can't afford to dismiss any option at this point."

Cam's arms were crossed, her stance defensive. "Zoya, we can't blindly trust this. We need to consider the potential consequences."

I weighed their words, the gravity of the situation pressing down on me. The thought of seeking out magic and voodoo felt like venturing into uncharted territory, but the memory of that eerie shadow and the disturbing whispers in my mind fueled my resolve.

"I understand the risks," I finally replied, my voice steady despite the turmoil within me. "But I also can't ignore the fact that something unnatural is happening. If there's a chance it can protect my child, I have to take it."

Anika's eyes locked onto mine, a mixture of gratitude and determination in her gaze. "Thank you, Zoya. I know it's not an easy choice, but we'll do everything in our power to keep you and your child safe."

With our agreement in place, we set off, me in Cam and Gustav’s car, Anika in her own, towards Anika's grandmother's location, a whirlwind of hope and apprehension swirling within me.

The path ahead was uncertain, fraught with challenges and the unknown, yet I was willing to face whatever lay ahead to protect my child and unearth the truth that had eluded us for far too long.
