Torn Between my Alpha Mates

Chapter 156: A Revelation of Hellfire Part 1

Ch. 156 / 177 Dec 10, 2025

Zoya's P.O.V

If Lady Athena’s question hadn't already thrown me off guard, the tension in the room escalated to a fever pitch as Ezra and Silas burst into the room like a storm, their presence immediately charging the air with hostility.

My heart raced as Ezra rushed to my side, his protective instincts on full display. His hand found mine, his grip firm yet reassuring, grounding me in the chaos that had erupted all of a sudden.

"What's going on here?" Ezra's voice was a low growl, his eyes fixed on Anika and Silas as if challenging them to reveal their intentions.

Silas, on the other side of the room, stood with Anika, his stance defensive and his eyes burning with an intensity that matched Ezra's.

"Zoya, you shouldn't be here,” Ezra said, looking at Silas, Anika, and Lady Athena. “These people are not to be trusted," he warned, his voice laced with a warning that sent shivers down my spine. He turned to Cam and Gustav. “How could you two be so careless? What if I hadn’t gotten here on time?”

His gaze went back to me. “Let’s go, Zoya. I’m sure this is some kind of plan by Silas and Anika to deceive you.”

Meanwhile, Silas was telling Anika, “You should never associate with Zoya ever again. She and Ezra are the enemy. You must remember that. Have you forgotten what we talked about?”

Anika, seemingly unfazed by the brewing storm, met Silas's gaze with a calm determination. "We're here seeking help, Silas. We're not the enemy, and neither is Zoya."

But their words fell on deaf ears as the two men locked onto each other, their animosity a palpable force that seemed ready to ignite the room.

Their verbal spat quickly escalated into a heated exchange of words and threats, the tension between them cracking the walls of the room itself.

“You dare raise your tongue against Zoya?” Ezra demanded.

“Oh, so now you and your pack are gonna play the innocent, victim card on this?” Silas spat out, his glare as intense as his tone.

Cam and Gustav rushed in between, but their efforts to mediate the conflict proved futile against the hurricane of rage that surrounded Ezra and Silas.

Anika's grandmother, Lady Athena, however, stood as a steadfast pillar of strength, her aura emanating an air of authority that seemed to hold some semblance of control over the escalating situation.

She began to chant in a different language, a spiel that I quickly recognized to be a spell of some kind.

Hold on… a spell?

I was a bit skeptical about her methods, but I neither questioned her motives nor complained.

The room seemed to shimmer with an otherworldly energy as Lady Athena's voice took on a melodic quality, a language unfamiliar yet rich with power. Her incantation wove through the air, carrying with it an aura of ancient magic.

My breath caught as I watched her, feeling a sense of awe at the depth of her knowledge and abilities. Anika and I exchanged glances, both of us knowing that this moment could very well hold the key to unraveling the mysteries that had haunted us.

Her words, which I couldn’t understand but somehow still made me feel at ease, seemed to puncture the veil of hostility, and the room finally began to settle into an uneasy calm. The atmosphere had changed drastically, from charged to confused.

The tension that had been so palpable between Ezra and Silas began to dissipate, leaving behind a strange sense of clarity. Their furrowed brows smoothed, and their features softened as if released from an invisible grip.

Ezra's grip on my hand remained firm, his protective stance unwavering, but I could see a flicker of uncertainty in his eyes.

“What… what the hell just happened?” Silas voiced out the question that Ezra, too, was clearly thinking.

Ezra turned to me, his eyes no longer burning with anger but filled with concern. "Zoya, are you alright?" His voice held genuine worry, the fierce protector in him re-emerging. “Wh-what happened?”

I nodded, a small smile curving my lips. "Yes, I am." I could feel the barrier spell's effects washing over me, like a soothing balm easing the knots of tension that had been tying me in knots. “Everything is going to be alright, Ezra.”

“Looks like this child wasn’t the only one inflicted with a curse.” Anika's grandmother stepped forward, her presence commanding attention. "I cast a barrier spell, one that temporarily shields your minds from the curse's influence. While the spell holds, the curse's hold on your emotions and judgments will be weakened."
