WARM HUG
The boys started to talk about business matters while we, girls, decided to sit on the side of the pool, dipping our feet on the hot water.
Janice looked at me with questioning eyes. “Are you back together?” she asked.
I looked at her and shook my head. “You know I won’t get involved with him when he’s still with Rachel Grey,” I replied. Then I narrowed my eyes at them. “Did you know he’d come here, by the way?” I asked.
The three looked at each other and bit their lips. There, I know they knew.
Ashley sighed. “He asked Kris about this getaway. I was with them last night,” she started to confess. “He said he wanted to get drunk because he didn’t know what to do.”
I creased my brows. He doesn’t know what to do? What does that mean?
“He keeps on saying he wanted to be with you but he couldn’t break up with Rachel Grey,” Ashley continued. “Rachel is the daughter of their company’s biggest shareholder-slash-board member. Breaking up with her might cause severe damage to their company, especially now that they’re going to open a new branch.” She looked at me apologetically. “From what he’d said last night, I think he’s really serious about getting back with you.”
I felt like loads of stones are crumbling down on me. I’ve realized my selfish moves. I have been consistently asking him to break up with her if he wanted to be with me without knowing his side. But I still don’t want to be the other choice. I still don’t want to be the other woman.
Hannah looked at me. “Do you still love him?” she asked.
I looked at her and sighed. It wasn’t too hard to let them know that I still love Kai. Of course I do. We’ve been together for two years before I left him. He’s my first in everything. He’s the only man I have loved in my whole life.
“Forget it. Why am I even asking? Of course you do!” Hannah beamed at me. “But now, do you want him back?”
I bit my lip and sighed. “I do,” I replied softly. “Of course I want him back. He’s the person I want to share my life with. He’s the one I want to be with for the rest of my life.”
The three looked at each other and sighed before hugging me all at once.
“Just give him time, Eunique. Give him time to make things right. I’m sure he could make things fall into place,” Janice told me and I nodded. “For now, just be with him.”
The other two nodded.
“I think he missed you a lot,” Ashley smiled. “He’s so willing to be your slave for the day.” she snickered.
Janice laughed. “Oh! I’m sure it’s not only for today.” She beamed.
Hannah chuckled. “I must bet on that, too!” She countered.
I shook my head and rolled my eyes at the two.
I don’t know what to feel now that I think my friends are on Kai’s side. I don’t know why they seemed to be so fond of him. They used to be the ones doing something for me to not be in his line of sight. But right now? I’m so shocked that they’re even betting on how Kai is so willing to be my slave.
I suddenly glanced at Kai’s way. He’s laughing with the boys. Damn. I miss his smile. I miss his laugh. I’m still waiting for the day that I would be the reason for his happiness again. I’m still waiting for that day that he would be mine again.
My eyes widened when he suddenly glanced in my way. He stopped laughing but the smile is still etched on his face. He told Kris something before he stood up and walked towards me.
I heard the girls and my friends squeak as they saw Kai walking my way.
“We’ll talk to you, later, Eunique!” Ashley beamed and they all left me on the pool side to go to their boyfriends.
I wanted to protest but I stopped when Kai sat beside me in the pool side. He raised his brow as he dipped his feet on the warm water of the pool.
“Are you having fun?” he asked as he played with water on his hands.
I swallowed and nodded. “Are you?” I asked back, trying to put my beating heart behind.
He smiled weakly as he stared in my eyes. “I am now,” he replied and bit his lip.
I could feel a gush of warm water going through my heart as I heard his words. I feel like I’m the luckiest person alive knowing that I make someone’s mood good.
I pursed my lips in a thin line, preventing my smile to creep out of my face.
Kai stared at me. “Aren’t you going to swim?” he asked.
“I will,” I replied. “Later.”
He nodded and continued to play with water.
“Aren’t you?” I asked.
God knows how I am boring him. I don’t want to bore him. I don’t want him to look at someone else whenever he’s with me.
He smiled. “I will when you go.”
I bit my lip and nodded. I could feel blood rushing to my face as I hear his reply.
I looked up at the sky and saw the different constellations of stars lining up. I couldn’t help but smile at how beautiful the stars are.
“You look beautiful and serene when you look up to the sky.” I heard him say making me look at him.
He’s staring with me with eyes full of adoration and love. I could almost feel my heart melting at the feelings and emotions of his stare.
I felt his hand on top of mine. I looked at our hands before looking back at him again.
He smiled. “Can I hold your hand?” he asked carefully.
If I could only scream, I could’ve done it now. My heart is screaming millions of emotions and feelings the moment I heard his question.
I took a deep breath before nodding.
Dear Lord, I wish I was making the right decision right now.
I felt him lace his fingers with mine after hearing me approve his little request. His big, warm hand enveloped my palm and my fingers. It felt like it was four years ago again. It felt like the happy moments I had with him again.
I looked at him and saw him smiling as he was staring at the water. He glanced at me and I could almost be blinded by his smile. He pulled my hand to his lap, as he scooted closer.
“I missed these times,” he uttered as he played with my fingers.
I bit my lip and watched his fiddle with my fingers. I miss it too. I miss us. And I want us to happen again. I want us to be together again.
“Can you really not break up with her?”
He stared at me with sad and helpless eyes.
“I still don’t want to be your mistress,” I told him.
He let out a heavy sigh. “I can break up with her,” he told me. “In fact, I’m going to break up with her. I just need to do it personally.”
I swallowed a forming lump in my throat. Am I being selfish? Am I being inconsiderate?
“And, Eunique, you will never be my mistress. You will never be my second option. Never,” he said as he used his free hand to caress my cheek. “You were my only one. You are my one and only. Always and in all eternity.”
Tears started to brim around my eyes. I know I’ve said a lot of promises to myself but I couldn’t help but cry when he uttered those words. It’s like I’m talking to my Kaisser Bennett four years ago.
It feels like it was four years ago again because for one, he, too, will always be my one and only.
Kai and I enjoyed the pool even with all those people looking at us. The girls are flaunting and probably, flirting with him but he didn’t even give them a glance. His full attention is all on me.
It was after about two hours when he suggested that we get out of the pool. “You’re going to get colds.” That was his reason.
I couldn’t argue with him because even with the warm water in the pool, I could feel myself shiver with the cold.
He immediately wrapped a thick towel around me as we walked towards our friends. I thought we were going to stay with them for a while, so, I was shocked when I heard him say that we’ll go straight to our suite.
“You look so tired,” was his only answer when I asked him the reason why we went straight to our room.
Yes, I am tired. But we came here to have fun. We should’ve stayed with our friends even for a while.
“You can go and use the bathroom first,” he told me when we arrived inside our room. He went straight to the dresser to get one more towel, placing it on his broad shoulders.
I nodded and took some clothes before heading to the bathroom.
Everything still feels so surreal. Being in one room with Kai is like a dream come true again. It’s like I can die happy right now.
I took about twenty minutes until I got dressed and ready to sleep. Kai was standing near the glass door on the terrace. His back is turned on me and I smiled at the sight.
I cleared my throat, making him look at me. I smiled weakly. “You can use the bathroom, now.” I told him and he nodded.
I slumped on the bed and almost groaned at the feeling of relief. I turned the TV on and started to flip on the channels. When I finally found NatGeo, I settled.
I was watching the jungle life when the door from the bathroom opened, revealing Kai in his white V-neck shirt and pair of boxers. He’s looking so hot and sexy. I could never deny it.
My heart almost dropped when his eyes found me on the bed. He walked towards me and smiled. “Can we sleep together?” he asked me, as softly and carefully as the wind.
I bit my lip and nodded.
He lied down beside and started to scoot over to my side, giving me the warmest hug I have always felt in my entire existence.
