DANCE WITH ME
I felt so comfortable talking to Juneau. I don’t know why but there’s something so warm about him that I couldn’t resist talking to him.
He’s told me so many stories about his life and sometimes, about the company. I’m so amazed at how he knows a lot about Nildex when he’s only here for merely four years. Maybe I would be so familiar with the company if I stay longer, too.
I saw Kai and his cousins talking to some bigtime guests. I silently prayed that he wouldn’t see me. I don’t want to experience his intense stares right now. I looked away just as I noticed him looking at my direction.
“I hope you enjoy your first dinner in Nildex.” Juneau smiled as we finished our meal. Like the extravagance of this dinner, the foods were all good and expensive, based on how each plate was presented.
I smiled and nodded. “It was nicer with you.” I chuckled.
He bit his lip and smiled. “I know right!” he beamed.
I smiled and looked around the employees who are having fun with each other. I wonder why Juneau didn’t head off to his table with his members. I asked him about that a while ago but he just told me that they are all crowded in there. I didn’t ask further. I am enjoying his company anyway.
My phone vibrated.
From: Hannah Pierce
Where are you? We’re all here waiting for you.
I pursed my lips and typed in my reply.
To: Hannah Pierce
I’m still at the company dinner. Give me 30 minutes more.
I pressed send and looked up at Juneau who was staring at me. He smiled when our eyes met. I cannot deny the fact that his eyes are so expressive. It’s like anyone could get lost in his stare once one catches and gets indulged in it. There’s a twinkle in his eyes that makes everyone’s heart leap.
“I’m leaving,” I told him. “Thanks for the company, Juneau.” I smiled as I fixed my things.
He frowned at me as he looked at his watch. “This early?” he asked.
I smiled and nodded. “I’m supposed to meet my friends tonight,” I explained.
“Girls?” he asked curiously.
I nodded. “Yes. Girls,” I chuckled.
He nodded and helped me as I stood up. “I’ll walk you to your car.” He offered.
I shook my head. “I’m good. You stay here.” I told him.
He was about to protest but I shook my head.
“You stay. Thanks for the company, Juneau. I’ll see you around the building.” I told him as I waved and walked towards the entrance.
I talked to the valet and waited for my car. I can’t wait to meet my friends. It feels like forever. And now, I could feel freer. I could release these emotions inside.
I drove to the bar Ashley texted me. No boys tonight. I guess, we’ll have a lot of fun.
I parked my car and walked to the back door.
“ID please.” The bouncer extended his hand in front of me.
I looked into my bag and showed him my company ID. He nodded at me and made way. I sighed and walked inside.
I searched for my friends from the swarm of people dancing and getting wasted in the dance floor. If they are waiting for me, then, I believe that they are in the couch and peacefully drinking.
I searched through the people on the couches portion and saw my friends sitting near the center. Janice saw me and waved, asking me to come to them.
“Oh my goodness! I thought you’d ditch us!” Ashley beamed the moment I sat on the couch.
I rolled my eyes. “How can I ditch you when you were so clingy and texting me every minute?!” I muttered and they all laughed.
“Come on, Eunique! We all know you need to unwind! You look so stressed at work!” Janice beamed.
Hannah looked at me and nodded. “Your bags are showing,” she kidded and the three laughed.
I rolled my eyes and took a shot of the drink on the table. “By the way, Ashley, I am surprised Kris allowed you to come here alone.” I told her.
She rolled her eyes at me. “He doesn’t know I’m going out tonight,” she beamed.
Our eyes widened. “What?!” we chorused.
Ashley shook her head. “Of course, I wouldn’t come alone if he knew I was going to this kind of place. You know how possessive he is!” she beamed.
I laughed and nodded. I agree. Kris is the most possessive boyfriend among Martin and Byron. Byron’s the most understanding. Martin’s the most conservative. That’s a fact.
Janice shook her head. “So, we’re not allowed to take pictures?” she asked, looking at Ashley.
Ashley narrowed her eyes at Janice. “Don’t you dare!” she warned and Janice shrugged. “Janice!” she beamed and wrestled Janice on the couch.
Janice was screaming for help but Hannah and I just watched them and laughed.
Dear Lord, I missed these normal times!
The four of us laughed and acted like what we used to be four years ago. We love to play and dare each other to do some awful and embarrassing things. We all believed that we only live once. YOLO, meh.
“I dare you to ask for that man’s number,” Ashley told Hannah while pointing at the pervert-looking guy who’s laughing with his friends from the other couch.
Hannah gave her a disgusted look. “Are you serious?!” she asked in disbelief.
Ashley nodded. “You better go, Hannah.” She pushed Hannah to stand up.
We watched our friend approach the man who looked up at her with a smirk on his face. Hannah extended her phone to the man to his surprise. He smirked and took the phone and typed in his number, from what I think it is.
Hannah bowed at him slightly before turning back to us. Her eyes are narrowed at Ashley who’s laughing like a crazy girl. Gee! This is why we need Kris whenever we go out at bars.
“Got it.” Hannah said and showed us her phone screen. Gareth Sun, it says.
Janice and I clapped our hands while Ashley is still laughing like there’s no tomorrow.
The dare went on until it reached me.
Janice and Ashley looked at each other like they knew what each other is thinking. Ashley wriggled her eyebrows at Janice before looking at me.
I suddenly felt cold and nervous. I think my dare is the most extreme.
Ashley grinned like she’s planning something evil. “I dare you to…” she paused and looked at Hannah and Janice. “…dirty dance with someone on the dance floor.”
My eyes widened at what she said. “What?!” I blurted. “Are you kidding me?”
Ashley stared back at me and shook her head. “It’s just a dare, Eunique. You can do it.” She grinned and hi-fived Janice.
I glared at the two. Hannah’s just sitting there as shocked as I am. I know her. She’s one of the most conservative persons I have ever known in my life. I’m sure she’s against this as much as I am.
Janice nodded at me and started to push me to the dance floor. “Come on, Janice! You’re just going to dance with some random guy!” she beamed but she sounded like she’s ordering me to do so.
I looked at her in terror. How can she say it so easily?! I’m going to dance with some random guy and they are all cool about it?! What the fuck?
Janice pushed me to the dance floor and landed on a broad chest.
“Oops…” I heard a low baritone.
I looked up and saw an unfamiliar man smirking at me. Well, at least he doesn’t look so perverted unlike the man Hannah asked a while ago. “Sorry,” I muttered but he chuckled.
“It’s alright. Anything for a beautiful lady…” he winked.
I wanted to vomit at his words. He seemed to be so familiar with these kinds of scenes in a bar. And yes, he looks like he’s a playboy as well.
“Enough, man, she’s mine.”
A hand suddenly pulled me away from this man’s chest. I looked at the owner of the hand and my eyes widened when I saw Kai staring at the man with narrowed eyes and a clenched jaw.
The man raised his hands in the air. “Sorry, bro. I didn’t know she’s yours. She just happened to land on my chest.” He shrugged and walked away, dancing with everyone he met along the way.
I narrowed my eyes at the Kaisser Bennett who’s glaring at me. “What the hell are you doing here?” I asked, annoyed.
He rolled his eyes at me before staring back at me with equal annoyance. “I should be the one asking you why you’re dancing with a total stranger!” He yelled at me. “And what the fuck are you doing here?!”
“I’m here for fun!” I screamed back. “I was just trying to complete a dare before you suddenly magically appeared.” I glared at him. “Are you following me?!”
He narrowed his eyes on me. He didn’t respond but he wrapped one arm around my waist, pulling me close to him. I could feel his breath on my cheek. My breathing started to hitch.
He pulled me even closer and I could feel his body on mine. I feel like there are no clothes in between us.
“Finish the dare…” he whispered and I could feel the chills in my spine. “Dance with me and finish that fucking dare. You’re not allowed to dance with anybody but me.”
