MY BOYFRIEND
I’ve always thought about being serious in relationships. I’ve always thought that it’s still better to be in a relationship where we understand each other, we support each other and we complement each other. It’s not enough that we love each other. Love is the foundation but there are many other factors that would make a relationship last long.
And that’s what I learned with my relationship with Kai. I loved him too much but I still had the guts and the courage to leave him. Sure, I had a lot of regrets and I think that’s just normal.
I was too much blinded by my priorities that I thought love wasn’t enough.
But right now, I won’t allow any of the past to happen again. I would stay with him. I would stay with him and fight. If he’s willing to give everything up for me, then, I am, too. I am willing to give up everything for him. It’s time to show him that I am worthy of his love.
Kai took my hand as we entered the restaurant. He pulled me closer. I could see the eyes of the female crew almost break their necks when we passed by them.
I chuckled, making him look at me weirdly.
“What’s funny?” he whispered in my ear.
I smiled and shrugged. It’s funny how everyone is staring at him and he seems to not care about anything. He’s too engrossed in his, or our, own world that the rest doesn’t matter to him. That, I love about him.
He narrowed his eyes at me and pulled me closer to his side. “I’m starting to think that you’re about to go crazy for me.” He winked and smirked.
I wanted to scoff at him but all I could show him is my smile. He could be right. Maybe I’m about to go crazy for him. Maybe I have gone crazy for him.
We both looked around the restaurant and saw our friends laughing at one table for eight persons. Hannah noticed us and waved at us.
Byron, who’s sitting beside Hannah, was smirking upon seeing our laced fingers. Kris was staring at Ashley as she smiled at us. Martin was just staring while Janice looked at us with wide eyes.
Kai tightened his grip on my hand as we neared the crew. “Sorry, we’re late,” he uttered as he pulled a chair for me.
Kris almost coughed when he saw how sweet Kai was. “Dude, I think that’s a bit too much,” he commented.
Kai rolled his eyes and sat beside me, totally ignoring Kris’ remark. He slung his arm on the chair I am sitting on and leaned closer. “What do you like?” he asked.
I could sink on my seat with the embarrassment I am feeling. I hate to think that he’s so sweet to me right now. I’d like to think that it’s because this is the only time that our feelings are mutual again.
I told him what food I like and let him place some on my plate.
Hannah is grinning in front of me. Among all others, she’s the woman of few words, so, with the look of her right now, I know what she’s thinking.
“Babe, what do you want?” Martin beamed at Janice, trying to mock Kai.
Janice laughed and slapped Martin’s arm lightly. “Stop it! I’m having goosebumps!” she exclaimed, making everyone laugh.
“Damn too cheesy, Bennett,” Ashley commented.
I must agree. Kai’s being too sweet and clingy. But I’m not complaining. If anything, I love it. I love feeling him beside me. I love feeling his care and love.
Kai just shook his head and turned to Kris. “Dude, you need to show your girl your moves. She seemed to be amazed of how a real man works,” he snickered before pouring juice on my glass.
I bit my lip, suppressing my laughter at Kris and Ashley who were both flustered with Kai’s words. Janice, Martin, Hannah and Byron were already laughing their asses out.
Kai leaned closer to my ear. “Just tell me if you’re not comfortable,” he whispered and started to put food on his plate as well.
I smiled and nodded. I wouldn’t be comfortable now because I’m still adjusting to the feeling again but I won’t tell him that. I am not comfortable but that doesn’t mean I don’t like it.
I like every single bit of it. I like how he takes care of me and how he doesn’t care about what others would think about him. That’s what I love from him.
The boys started to tease each other while Ashley nodded at me.
“Are you two together again?” she asked.
Hannah and Janice were in all ears, waiting for my answer.
I bit my lip and shook my head.
They all gave me a look. I know they don’t believe me.
“You can’t walk in a restaurant holding hands when you’re still not together,” Hannah pointed out.
I looked at her and pouted. “He held my hand. We’re not together,” I replied.
“Yet,” Janice continued. “You’re not together yet, but soon…” she trailed as she glanced at Kai who’s laughing with the boys.
Hannah looked at me. “Why?” she asked. “Is he still with Rachel Grey?”
Ashley and Janice looked at me, waiting for my answer.
I nodded. “He’s going to talk to her family tomorrow,” I replied.
“With you?” Ashley asked.
I shook my head. “I asked him if I needed to come with him but he said it’s about him and Rachel Grey. He doesn’t want to pull me into their mess,” I replied.
The three stared at me after hearing my answer. It seems like they weren’t buying anything that I just said. Honestly, I think that I need to go with Kai. If he had to face Rachel Grey, he needs me since I am the reason why he’s breaking up with her.
Hannah sighed. “He better do something wise this time,” she muttered. Janice and Ashley nodded.
I narrowed my eyes at them. “Why?” I asked.
“We don’t want you getting hurt again,” Ashley started. “Rachel Grey’s family is influential. I don’t think she’d give up without a proper fight.”
I pursed my lips in a thin line. Yes, she may be influential but what can she do when Kai loves me and not her?
“Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned…” Janice mumbled. “Always remember that.”
I let out a deep breath and glanced at Kai who was laughing with what Kris was blurting out. I think it’s funny because he’s even doing gestures as he narrates the story. I wish this night wouldn’t end. I wish we’d stay this happy for the rest of our lives.
I thought of what the girls had told me during the dinner even when Kai and I were inside his car. He must have noticed that I am not usually talkative because he held my hand, getting my attention.
I looked at him and smiled.
He stared at me with questioning eyes. “What are you thinking?” he asked.
I smiled and shook my head. “Nothing. Just some things…” I trailed.
“Things like what?” he asked with a raised brow.
I stared back at him and sighed. His eyes are pleading to be answered and how can I resist that?
“Things like you and Rachel Grey, how powerful and influential he family is, how she wouldn’t give you up for me…”
My eyes widened when his soft lips landed on mine. His eyes were shut as he savored that soft and shallow kiss.
“She wouldn’t give me up for sure…” he trailed as he brushed his thumb on my cheek.
I stared at him, heart pounding because I didn’t get what he’s talking about. I feel like millions of nails are being hammered to chest and I couldn’t breathe.
“…because she hadn’t owned me in the first place.” He finished and planted another kiss on my forehead. “You’re the only one who owns me, Eunique. No one else…no one else could own me more than you do.”
I could feel tears forming at the sides of my eyes. He gave out a smile that made me smile back.
“Don’t think about unnecessary things, Eunique. Think of you and me, yes? Just think of you and me.”
I nodded at his words. I am hypnotized yet again. He will never stop hypnotizing me with his stare, his words, his gestures…damn! Everything about Kaisser Bennett hypnotizes my system.
He was holding my hand on the way to my house. He would kiss my knuckles from time to time which would give me these tiny shivers in my spine. I love this feeling.
He pulled over near our gate and turned off the engine. Damn. I don’t want to go out yet. I don’t want this day to end. I don’t want to leave him even just for a second.
It feels like I’m going to miss him more and more now.
He fiddled with my fingers and smiled at me. “Can you just stay with me?” he asked. “My place is huge enough for us.”
I smiled at him. I hate that I’d want it too. But first things first, he needs a clean out from Rachel Grey. Then, after, I need to introduce him to my parents.
“Slowly, Kai,” I told him. “We’ll take it step by step this time.”
He smiled and kissed my palm. “Sure, honey. We’ll do what you want,” he spoke.
I smiled back and glanced at the gate which opened revealing my brother, Euron. I looked at Kai and told him I needed to go even if I don’t want to, yet.
Euron looked at me with narrowed eyes as he saw me getting out of Kai’s car. “Who’s that?” he asked with an authoritative voice.
I glanced at Kai’s Benz and smiled. “My boyfriend,” I replied, feeling all these butterflies once again.
