To Make You Come Back To Me

Special Chapter 3

Ch. 35 / 37 Aug 19, 2022

KAISSER

I went to the party dressed like a single man that I am. Kris and Ashley both raised their brows when they saw what I am wearing.

With the top four buttons undone, my black long sleeves showed most of my chest.

“Slut,” Kris told me and immediately asked Ashley to look away.

I laughed at his reaction. “I’m here to have fun,” I told him as I ran my fingers through my hair. I looked around and saw a man handing out drinks to almost everyone.

I excused myself and walked immediately to get myself the first shot of the evening. I downed the Bourbon and looked for Byron.

Kris said this party is because he just opened a new branch of a hotel resort in Cambridge. Successful bastard, he’s doing so well in his field.

I saw Hannah walking and immediately called her but she was busy on her phone. She seemed to be talking to someone.

“Eunique, you can’t do this,” she said.

I stopped and immediately felt annoyed. Eunique? She’s talking to Hannah?

“Why are you trying to shut us out?!” Hannah seemed mad and I was surprised. Hannah never gets mad. There are times when she looks irritable but she never got mad. I’ve never seen her mad.

Hannah washed her hand on her face. “No one knows where you are. Kai seemed so lost!”

I scoffed silently. Everyone thinks I am lost. Everyone thinks I am losing it. Maybe I am. But knowing that they are all thinking that way makes me feel pathetic.

Why…am I this lost because of a girl? I don’t get it. But fuck it all because wherever I look, I always see Eunique. I always think of her.

I pivoted and went to the bar instead. Enough of thinking this would be fun. Nights with alcohol will always be about Eunique. Who am I even fucking kidding?

“One tequila,” I told the bartender as I settled on the high chair.

I need a fucking drink. I’ve been needing this since Eunique left me. I wonder how my liver is doing now.

“Hi…” I heard a small voice speak beside me.

I turned my head to the side and saw a pretty woman smiling awkwardly at me. “Do I know you?” I asked.

She bit her lower lip and damn! I remember Eunique doing that and it’s making my whole system go haywire.

Her almond eyes looked at me warily. “You are…Kaisser Bennett, right?”

I narrowed my eyes at her. “Why?”

I already know that a lot of women know me. I have been notorious in clubs and parties before I settled with Eunique so it’s kind of normal. But this lady in front of me right now doesn’t seem like she knows how to party. Sure, she looks sophisticated but I don’t think she’s the type to party all night.

“I am Rachel Grey,” she said cautiously. “I am the daughter of a board member in your company.”

Rachel Grey?

I nodded at her when it dawned on me who her father is. Raymond Grey—one of the highest investors in our company. He’s the man who my parents always want to be in a truce with.

“Oh, hi…” I smiled at her. “You here to party too?”

Rachel smiled at me and nodded. “My friends are over there, playing beerpong…” she said in her sweet voice.

I smiled and didn’t know what to say anymore. I surely didn’t come here to have a little chitchat with the daughter of our most precious investor. I just want to drink and drown myself in alcohol until I can sleep.

Rachel climbed up the high chair and settled herself beside me. She looked at me, observing what I am doing. “Do you like to get really drunk?” she asked.

I raised my brow at her. “I guess…” I shrugged as I downed a shot of tequila.

I don’t know how many of this I had already finished. Not too many, I think, because I haven’t started looking for Eunique while crying pathetically.

If Kris sees me drinking, he’s probably going to kick my ass to my car and make me go home. It’s a wonder he still hasn’t seen me, though.

“Why?” Rachel asked me. “Why do you like to get drunk?”

I shrugged. “I think I just want to…”

Rachel stared at me. Her eyes are twinkling with the lights of the party. Her lips are plump and pinkish I couldn’t help but swallow hard as worldly things run inside my head.

I must have really missed Eunique because all I want to do now is to kiss this girl in front of me.

“Kai!” I was put back to my senses when I heard Kris calling me.

I cleared my throat and straightened up when I saw my best friend walking towards me. Rachel looked at him and smiled while Kris just gave me a knowing look.

I rolled my eyes. “What do you want?” I asked him.

He shrugged. “I just missed you, bro…” he said as he pretended to kiss me on the cheek.

I pushed his face away and I heard Rachel laugh at Kris’ silly antics.

Kris looked at her and smirked. “I’m Kris Wu, Kai’s best friend. You are?” he asked her.

“Rachel Grey,” she replied curtly.

“Nice to meet you,” Kris said.

Rachel nodded. She looked at me like she needs to tell me something but then she was interrupted when her friends already called her. She bid goodbye to me and Kris to join her troupe.

I watched her as she walked away and Kris yanked my stare away from her direction. He eyed me.

“What was that?” he asked.

I rolled my eyes. “Why are you asking?”

He scoffed. “I saw how you stared at her.” There was warning in his voice. “I am not stupid.”

I drank another shot of tequila. “I never said you were…”

Kris exhaled deeply. “Kai, you know it’s wrong to have a rebound.”

I raised my brow and violently looked at him. “Who says I’m looking for a rebound?”

Kris sighed. “Dude, you can’t just prey on any girl who comes at you.” He shook his head. “That girl is young. Look for another.”

I laughed at him but that’s because he’s already getting into my nerves. “If I will look for a girl, I will look for someone better than Eunique in every aspect so when she comes back, she’ll see that it’s her mistake she left me.”

I downed another shot of tequila before getting out of the place. I need to drink in peace. In my balcony while pitifully staring at the city lights.
