NO MORE CRYING
Kai is dancing against me while I am stoned in my spot. What the hell is he doing? And most importantly, what is he doing here? He should be in the company dinner!
His hands are wrapped around my waist as he swayed through a Justin Timberlake song. His eyes are directed to mine with his face so close.
I swallowed and just stared at him. He’s looking at me like he’s thinking of what I am thinking. I bit my lip and looked away.
I felt him leaning to my ear. “What’s wrong? Finish the damn dare so I could get you out of here immediately,” he whispered as he danced through the song.
I looked at him with narrowed eyes. “I’m not supposed to dance with you,” I firmly told him. “Let go of me!” I tried to wriggle out of his grip but he only tightened his arms around me.
“You want to leave my side and then what? You’ll dance with just some fucking stranger in the dance floor? No way, Eunique. I won’t let you.”
His breath on my neck sent shivers to my spine. I tried to push him again even though I know I won’t match his strength.
“Don’t try to escape me, Eunique,” he said it so softly that I think a bag of warm water was poured on my heart.
“Where’s your girlfriend?” I asked him with a sharp look.
He stared back at me. “She’s not here.” He replied with a confused look.
I rolled my eyes. “She’s not here so you’re dancing with me?” I asked.
His eyes widened and then his jaw clenched eventually. He was about to say something when I spoke again.
“You’re cheating on her!” I yelled as I tried to get out of his grip. “What the hell, Kai?! Let go of me!” I screamed and I pushed him.
But he’s really so strong. “I told you, you can’t escape me…” he told me with those intense gazes once more.
“I don’t understand you!” I yelled at him. “You want me gone but you follow me around!”
He narrowed his eyes at me and tightened his grip around my waist.
“Stop it!” I yelled again.
It’s good that the music was loud enough and everyone is dancing without care in the rest of the world.
I looked at my friends who are staring at me in shock. What the hell? Why aren’t they doing anything to save me from this hell?
Kai held my cheek and made me look at him. “What are you doing to me?” he asked.
I scoffed. “No, Kai! What are you doing to me—”
My words were cut when I felt his soft lips on mine. He kissed me passionately as my eyes are wide opened, not knowing what to do. His hand on my waist pulled me even closer to him and I could feel the heat of his body.
He stopped kissing me after a few seconds and stared into my eyes. “Damn, Eunique. I missed you so much. I don’t know what to do anymore,” he whispered as he placed his forehead on mine, still holding me tight.
My heart softened at the words he just uttered. I’m so in love with him and I am so hung up on him. I want us to happen again. I want us to get back together.
He planted another kiss on my lips. This time, the kiss told me how he missed me. I closed my eyes and responded. I couldn’t deny. I missed him so much as well.
My hands are on his chest and I could almost feel his heartbeat racing faster as he moved his lips with mine.
I’m so scared. I’m so afraid of what I am feeling for him. My love for him is too intense and extreme that I think I would give in so easily when he asked me to. I want him so bad and I would do everything to have him back again. But he’s taken.
I stopped kissing him as I realized the whole situation. He’s kissing me and I’m kissing him back when he has a girlfriend who is so in love with him. This isn’t right. Cheating on his girlfriend isn’t right.
“Stop…” I muttered as I looked away. “This is wrong. You have a girlfriend. You shouldn’t be kissing anyone other than her.”
I heard him breath violently as he heard what I said. “I miss you. I miss you a lot. I would trade everything to be with you,” he uttered as he hugged me.
“You want me gone,” I stated and he froze. “Remember, you said you don’t want me in your life again.”
Pain etched in my heart as I remembered his words that day.
“This is the last time, Eunique. It’s over. I don’t ever want to see you again.”
I looked at him and saw his fallen expression. “I don’t ever want to see you again.” I quoted his words. “You told me those words.”
He didn’t move and just stared at me. What now, Kai? What are you up to?
“I can comprehend, Kai. I know what you meant. I’m sorry for trying to explain myself when you’ve decided to never see me again. But I’m really trying…I’m trying to stay away,” I told him with my voice starting to shake. No, Eunique. Don’t cry right now.
“If it’s the end of the road, there’s nowhere else to go. Would you rather hold on and face nothingness, or let go and start a new life?”
Juneau’s question replayed in my head. It actually makes sense. Kai and I are over. Four years ago, I ended everything when I left. All four years of my life, I am stuck at the end of the road. I think I need a new track. I think I need a new road to begin with…away from Kai.
Kai’s stare at me softened and I could feel his grip on me loosen. “I’m sorry…” he uttered.
I smiled and escaped out of his grip. “You don’t need to be,” I told him. “I’m the one who caused you damage and I will forever be sorry for us. You don’t need to be sorry.” I tried to walk away just fine but my traitor tears just don’t follow my commands.
My tears fell as soon as I turned my back from Kai. I walked to our couch and saw my friends looking at me worriedly. I shook my head and took my bag as I walked out of the club.
I swear to myself and to all the heavenly creatures above that this is the last time I would cry because of him. Never again would I cry over him. Never again.
I woke up the next day with a lot of text messages on my phone.

We’re sorry for the bad dare. Sorry we didn’t help you out.

Did you get home safely? We’re really sorry for the mess, Eunique.
From: Ashley Grant
I hope you got home safely. Hope to see you soon. We’re very sorry.
From: Nildex
I’m sorry for making you cry again.
I ignored the last message I received. I promised myself last night. I’m not going to cry over him again. I’m going to stay away. I’m going to keep distance. I won’t look when I don’t need to. I won’t talk to him when I don’t need to.
I’m so happy that nothing happened over the weekend. I just attended a mass last Sunday with my brother, Eurick.
Monday came and it was so busy at work. The opening of the new branch has caused a massive application of applicants of different available positions. I had to review over a hundred files that were sent to me and sorted out the possible accepted employees.
Heina and Sofia were busy with their field work while John, Jason and Karen are writing their proposals for their field work last week.
Charles was the one in-charge of the training and orientation of the newest employees that were starting today so he was really busy. He toured the new employees to the whole building and even gave them a brief discussion of what to expect from the company.
“Lunch time, Miss Eunique.” Karen told me.
I looked at her and nodded. “Are you going?” I asked and she nodded. “Well, then, I’m coming with you,” I told her and closed the files on top of my desk.
Karen, John, Jason and I went to the company cafeteria and ate lunch. They were all talking about how bad it was in the branch of Nildex they visited last week. “Everything was a wreck,” Jason said and the other two agreed.
We discussed what we could to improve the management of that certain branch. They told me some interesting new systems that we could try and that I did take down in consideration. We were so indulged in the discussion when a familiar voice called me.
“Eunique!” Juneau was smiling at me as he was holding a tray. “Nice to see you here,” he said as he greeted my members. “Hi!”
I smiled at him and nodded. “It’s nice to see you around here, too!” I beamed. “Lunch?” I asked.
Juneau smiled but shook his head. “I’m with my friends.” He said as he motioned to the table behind ours. “I would love to grab lunch with you some other time, though,” he snickered.
I nodded. “Sure.” I replied. “I’m looking forward to that time.” I laughed.
Juneau chuckled and nodded. “Me, too. Anyway, I have to go. I’ll see you all around.” He told us before walking to where his friends are at.
Karen gave me a look. “You’re close with Juneau Portman?” She asked. “Do you know who he is?” She asked again.
I narrowed my eyes at them. “He’s the head of finance department,” I replied nonchalantly.
Karen shook her head. “He’s the CEO’s half-brother!” she exasperated.
My eyes widened in shock. Kai has a half-brother? Why haven’t I known?!
Just as when I was just digesting the information, Kai and his girl walked inside with all smiles. Hell.
