The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

Chapter 709

Ch. 699 / 790 May 05, 2026

The days following Bella’s emotional outburst had been difficult. She couldn’t shake the memory of seeing Kael and Avalon together, standing so close to one another, their words soft yet filled with a familiarity that Bella had never experienced. It was a sensation she couldn’t quite put into words, but it gnawed at her, leaving her restless and uneasy.

The only thing that seemed to take her mind off the swirling confusion was Avalon’s training. It was the one area where Bella could focus all her energy without distraction, without the painful reminders of the bond she shared with Kael. Or at least, that was what she told herself.

Every session felt like a battle. Avalon pushed her harder, demanding more with every step. But Bella felt a growing urgency in her movements—each exercise a way to fight off the emotional weight she couldn’t bear to confront. She threw herself into the training, determined to regain control of her mind and her power, to free herself from the bond with Kael that she still couldn’t fully comprehend.

Avalon had noticed the change in Bella’s intensity. The once uncertain woman who had hesitated to embrace her hybrid nature now threw herself into every challenge with fervor. Her movements were faster, sharper, more precise—but there was something underneath the surface, something raw and desperate.

One evening, after a particularly grueling session, Avalon approached Bella, her piercing eyes studying her closely. “You’re pushing yourself too hard,” she said, her tone calm but firm. “Why are you fighting so hard, Bella? Is it for him?”

Bella froze, her chest tight with the question. She wanted to deny it, to say it was for herself, for her own recovery. But deep down, she knew the truth was more complicated. Kael had been there for her, even when she couldn’t remember him, even when she had no idea who she truly was. He had never given up on her, no matter how many times she pushed him away.

Bella opened her mouth, but the words didn’t come. She couldn’t say what she was feeling, couldn’t admit that she still cared about him, even if the bond felt like a distant, blurry memory. Instead, she lowered her gaze to the floor, unwilling to meet Avalon’s knowing eyes.

“I’m not fighting for him,” Bella finally muttered, though her voice lacked conviction. “I’m fighting for me. For my memories. For control.”

Avalon studied her silently for a moment before nodding, her expression unreadable. “Fighting for yourself doesn’t mean running from your emotions. You can’t heal by ignoring them.”

Bella clenched her fists, frustration bubbling up inside her. “I don’t know how to heal. I don’t know how to fix what’s broken inside me.”

Avalon’s eyes softened, and she stepped closer, her voice gentle but firm. “Sometimes healing doesn’t mean fixing what’s broken. It means accepting the parts of you that are incomplete, that are still growing.”

But Bella didn’t want to accept it. She wanted everything to go back to normal, to have the certainty she once had, even if that meant giving in to the pain she had been avoiding. She wanted to remember Kael, to feel the love they had shared, but every time she tried to grasp that feeling, it slipped further away.

That night, as Bella lay in bed, sleep eluded her. Her mind raced with the echoes of Avalon’s words, and her heart ached with confusion. Was she really fighting for herself? Or was she clinging to the hope that Kael’s love was the key to unlocking the person she used to be?

Eventually, exhaustion pulled her under, and sleep came in a rush. But it wasn’t the peaceful rest she had hoped for. Instead, Bella found herself in the midst of a dream—one that felt so real, so vivid, that she could almost feel the warmth of the hands that had once held her so tenderly.

In the dream, Kael’s voice echoed through the darkness, calling her name with a sense of urgency that made her heart flutter. “Bella,” he whispered, his voice rough with emotion. “I’m here. Come back to me.”

Her heart twisted in response, a yearning she couldn’t explain surging through her chest. She reached out, but the darkness around her was suffocating, keeping her just out of reach of his voice, of the warmth she so desperately craved.

“Kael…” she whispered, her voice trembling with a mixture of longing and fear.

But before she could move toward him, the darkness deepened, swallowing his voice and her desire for him. Bella’s heart raced as the dream shifted, and she woke up with a start, gasping for breath.

Tears were streaming down her face before she even realized it, the ache in her chest a painful reminder of the bond she had lost, of the love she couldn’t remember. She wiped her eyes, her hands shaking as the raw emotions she had been trying to bury bubbled to the surface.

What was she supposed to do now?
