The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

Chapter 702

Ch. 692 / 790 May 05, 2026

Kael’s departure was like a wound that hadn’t quite healed yet. As he left Crescent Howl territory in search of Avalon, his heart felt heavy, burdened with the uncertainty of what lay ahead. He hadn’t told Bella exactly where he was going, nor had he given her the choice to stop him. The tension between them still lingered, like a thick fog that neither of them could escape.

He had kissed her forehead before leaving, a soft and fleeting gesture that barely registered with her, but he’d felt it—the weight of everything they once shared. There had been no words between them, no promises. It was just Kael, once again, setting off into the unknown to fix things he could barely understand.

Now, with him gone, Bella was left to grapple with the isolation she’d been feeling for weeks. She had tried to push her emotions aside, but something had shifted in her chest, something soft, almost imperceptible. She wasn’t sure if it was the absence of Kael or the strange mix of confusion and longing that accompanied it, but there was a nagging pull inside her—one that she couldn’t quite explain.

Misery had noticed it, too. The subtle way Bella moved, as though she were testing the waters of a connection she wasn’t sure she could trust. The once icy walls that Bella had built around herself were beginning to crack, and Misery, ever perceptive, was the first to recognize it.

“Bella,” Misery said one afternoon, her voice gentle but probing, “you’ve been quieter than usual. I know Kael is gone, but… how are you really feeling?”

Bella hesitated, looking at Misery with a guarded expression. It had been hard to admit anything about herself lately, even to the people who loved her. But there was something in Misery’s eyes, something warm and understanding that made Bella feel like she could open up.

“I don’t know,” Bella said, her voice barely above a whisper. “I keep feeling like something’s stirring inside me, something I can’t control. It’s like… part of me is waking up, and part of me doesn’t want it to. I don’t know if I can handle it.”

Misery took a step closer, her gaze softening as she reached out to touch Bella’s arm. “It’s okay to feel conflicted, Bella. You’ve been through a lot. But don’t be afraid to feel what’s inside you. You’re not alone in this. You have us. And you have Kael, whether you want to admit it or not.”

Bella flinched slightly at the mention of Kael, but she didn’t pull away from Misery’s touch. She looked down, her fingers tracing the edge of her sleeve. “I don’t know what’s happening to me,” she admitted. “It feels like I’m losing control of everything—the bond with Kael, my memories… myself.”

Misery gave a small nod. “That’s because you are. But it’s okay. It’s normal to feel this way when you’ve been through what you’ve been through. Your mind, your body, your heart… they’re all trying to heal. Don’t shut it out, Bella. You’ve spent so long pushing away your feelings. Maybe it’s time to let yourself feel them again.”

Bella bit her lip, uncertainty still clouding her mind. She didn’t know how to navigate the shifting landscape of her emotions. She didn’t know if she could trust the pull she felt toward Kael again, or if it was just the product of her fragmented memories.

But there was one thing she knew for certain. She was tired of running from her feelings. She was tired of being scared.

Misery smiled softly and pulled Bella into a warm embrace. “You’ll find your way, Bella. And when you do, you’ll see everything a little clearer.”

The words were a balm to Bella’s fractured soul, and for the first time in weeks, she allowed herself to relax. Maybe she didn’t have all the answers yet, but she could take this one step at a time. She didn’t have to fix everything in an instant. She just had to let herself heal.

As the days passed, Bella found herself in a constant battle between her heart and mind. She didn’t want to admit how much she missed Kael, how deeply his absence had left a hole in her. She didn’t want to acknowledge the stirrings of a bond she couldn’t fully grasp.

But then, as if on instinct, she found herself drawn to Kael’s room, his quarters where she hadn’t set foot in since he left. She wasn’t sure why she was there. She had told herself that it was just a room—a space, empty and cold. But as she stood in the doorway, looking at his jacket, still draped over the chair where he’d left it, something inside her shifted.

Her fingers hesitated over the fabric, and she reached out, touching the coarse material. It smelled faintly of him—of the woods, of the wind, of Kael. A knot formed in her chest, tight and unyielding.

She stared at the jacket for a long time, her thoughts spiraling in a haze of confusion. Why did it feel like a piece of her was missing, like something was incomplete without him here? Was it the bond, the love they once shared, or something else—something deeper, more primal, tied to the very essence of who she was?

“Why does he feel so familiar?” Bella whispered to herself, her voice barely audible, as though the question were an accusation.

She wanted to deny it. She wanted to tell herself it was just her mind playing tricks on her. But the truth was undeniable. Even though she had no clear recollection of the love they shared, her heart still ached for him. And in this moment, standing in his room, holding his jacket, she couldn’t ignore the pull—couldn’t deny the connection that still lingered, buried deep beneath the surface.
