The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

Chapter 699

Ch. 689 / 790 May 05, 2026

Bella’s mind was a battlefield, her memories clashing with one another as she tried to make sense of everything that had flooded back. Her mind replayed moments with Kael—the soft warmth of his embrace, the way he had cared for her when she was at her weakest, the unspoken bond they shared. But there was also the darkness—the chains, the cold isolation, the years she had spent in captivity, the pain that haunted her even now. She couldn’t separate the two.

It felt like everything was tangled, every emotion and memory interwoven into a knot she couldn’t untangle. The love she had felt for Kael, the trust, was there, but so was the bitterness, the anger at what had been done to her. And then there was the question of who she was now—who she could become. Was she still the same person who had once laughed with her family, who had stood beside Kael in love and trust? Or had all of that been buried beneath the weight of what had happened to her?

As the memories continued to resurface, Bella felt herself retreating into the safety of her mind, not ready to face the reality of her emotions. She wanted to push everything aside, to pretend that none of it mattered. But Zeryth was there, a steady presence beside her, patiently waiting for her to find her way.

He had been silent for a while, simply offering her his support as she processed what she had learned. Bella had never expected comfort from Zeryth, yet here he was, unyielding in his quiet understanding.

“You don’t have to figure it all out at once,” Zeryth said softly, his voice a grounding force. “Take your time, Bella. There’s no rush.”

But Bella shook her head, feeling the pressure of it all. The weight of her memories was too much to bear, and every step she took toward understanding felt like another step away from who she once was. She longed to reclaim that part of herself, the part that had been with Kael, the part that had been whole.

“I don’t know if I can do this,” Bella whispered, her voice tight. “I don’t know if I can love him again. Not after everything that’s happened.”

Zeryth watched her closely, his gaze filled with empathy. “You don’t have to have all the answers right now. Just give yourself permission to feel what you feel. Don’t force it.”

Bella let out a shaky breath, feeling the confusion and turmoil building within her. She wished she could make sense of it, that she could simply turn a switch and feel the way she once had. But it wasn’t that simple. Nothing was that simple anymore.

Just as she was beginning to feel the weight of her emotions take over, a familiar, possessive growl echoed through the clearing. Bella’s head snapped up, and she saw Kael standing at the edge of the forest, his posture tense, his eyes burning with a mixture of rage and desperation.

His gaze locked onto Zeryth, and before Bella could react, Kael took a step forward, his voice low and dangerous. “Get your hands off her.”

Zeryth didn’t flinch, his expression unreadable as he slowly removed his hands from Bella’s shoulders, giving her space. “I’m not here to take her from you, Kael,” he said calmly. “I’m helping her remember who she is.”

Bella stood, her chest tightening as she felt the tension between the two men. She could feel the weight of Kael’s anger, could sense the possessiveness that radiated off him like a storm waiting to break. But what she couldn’t ignore was the confusion she still felt. The ache in her heart was too much, and Kael’s presence only made it worse.

“Kael,” Bella said softly, her voice shaky, “Please, stop.”

Kael’s gaze flicked to her, and for a moment, the rage in his eyes softened, replaced by something deeper. He could see the uncertainty in her eyes, the distance between them that he didn’t know how to bridge. But the possessiveness remained, as if he couldn’t stand the idea of anyone else being close to her.

“You’re mine,” Kael growled, his words harsh but laced with desperation. “I won’t let anyone take you from me.”

Zeryth’s eyes narrowed, his lips curling into a tight smile. “You’re not the only one who cares for her, Kael. Don’t forget that.”

Bella felt her heart race, her mind torn between the two men. She had loved Kael—she still felt that pull, that connection between them. But was it enough? Could it be enough to erase the doubts, the confusion, the pain that lingered in her soul?

“Enough,” Bella whispered, stepping between them, her voice breaking through the tension. “I need time. I can’t keep doing this. I need to figure out who I am, not who you want me to be.”
