The Chosen Luna: Alpha’s Unwanted Daughter

Chapter 700

Ch. 690 / 790 May 05, 2026

The tension in the air was thick as Kael’s steps echoed through the forest, his eyes locked on Zeryth with a fury that burned like wildfire. He had been patient, understanding, even willing to give Bella the time she needed, but now, seeing her so close to Zeryth, all the doubt, all the jealousy he had been holding back, came crashing forward.

“Stay away from her,” Kael’s voice was a low growl, each word dripping with barely contained rage. His hands balled into fists, his knuckles whitening. “I don’t care what you think you’re doing, but if you think for one second that I’ll let you manipulate her—”

Zeryth stood unfazed, his expression calm, almost too calm. He didn’t move an inch, as if Kael’s anger didn’t even faze him. “Manipulate? I’m helping her remember who she is, Kael. Something you seem incapable of doing.”

Kael took another step forward, his body tense, as though ready to lunge. “You’re playing with fire, Zeryth,” he spat, his voice thick with accusation. “You’ve always had a hand in this, haven’t you? Always lurking in the shadows, waiting for your moment to make your move.”

Bella’s heart pounded in her chest as she watched the confrontation unfold before her. She could feel the heat between them, the raw emotion in Kael’s every word, but it only made her feel smaller, more insignificant. She hated this—hated the way they were fighting over her, as though her very existence was a prize to be won. She wasn’t anyone’s possession. Not anymore.

“Kael, stop,” Bella said, her voice firm but trembling. She stepped between the two men, holding her hands out to either side as if to physically keep them apart. “This isn’t helping.”

Kael’s eyes flashed with disbelief, and he glared at her, his frustration boiling over. “You’re taking his side now?” His voice cracked with pain, as though the very idea of losing her to Zeryth was too much to bear.

“No,” Bella replied, shaking her head slowly. “I’m not taking anyone’s side. I just… I can’t deal with this right now.” Her words were softer now, more vulnerable. She looked at Kael, her eyes filled with confusion and exhaustion. “I need time to think, Kael. To figure this out.”

The words hit him like a physical blow. He had been expecting anger, maybe even a rejection, but the way she said it—the quiet sadness in her voice—cut deeper than anything he had ever felt before. His hand twitched at his side, and his jaw clenched tighter as the reality of what she was saying settled in. She needed space. She didn’t want to be here with him, not right now.

Kael took a step back, his chest rising and falling with each breath. His gaze flickered between Zeryth and Bella, his entire being taut with frustration. He couldn’t lose her. He just couldn’t.

“You think you need time?” Kael asked, his voice low, laced with a mixture of fear and anger. “Time won’t change anything, Bella. You’ll just keep drifting farther away from me, from us.” He looked at her with a mixture of disbelief and desperation. “I need you to understand—this isn’t just about us. You’re mine, Bella. You always have been.”

Zeryth let out a quiet sigh, his expression unreadable as he stepped back, giving Bella the space she needed. He didn’t say anything, but the tension in his stance told Kael all he needed to know. Zeryth wasn’t backing down. He was waiting for Bella to make her own decision, to find her own path.

But Kael couldn’t wait. His heart was a whirlwind of emotions, and every second that passed without Bella in his arms felt like a dagger in his chest.

“Bella, please,” Kael pleaded, his voice thick with emotion. “I’m not asking you to remember everything right now. But just… just give me a chance. I’ll prove to you that this—what we have—is real. It’s not just some memory of the past. It’s who we are. It’s who we can still be.”

Bella stood still, her heart torn in two as she watched Kael’s raw emotion spill out before her. She could see the pain, the fear, and the hope all written in his face. But what she couldn’t ignore was the doubt that still lingered within her, the uncertainty she felt every time she looked at him, every time she tried to force her memories back into place.

“I… I don’t know if I can, Kael,” she whispered, her voice barely audible. She felt the weight of his gaze pressing down on her, but she couldn’t answer the way he wanted. “I don’t even know who I am anymore, let alone who I was when I was with you.”

Her words shattered him. The pain in her voice, the helplessness she felt—it crushed him, made every instinct in his body scream at him to do something, anything to make her feel whole again. But he couldn’t. Not yet. He wasn’t sure how to fix this.

“I don’t know what you want from me,” Bella continued, her voice trembling now. “I don’t know if I can love you the way I used to.”

Kael’s breath caught in his throat. The words hit him harder than anything else she had said. He couldn’t lose her. Not after everything they had been through. Not after everything he had sacrificed.

He reached for her, his hands trembling, but Bella pulled back just enough to keep the distance between them. She wasn’t ready. Not yet.
