Sophie (five days later)
After the resort, our days have been really busy. Logan has been staying in my house for the most part. He's still trying to convince me to move into his house, but I'm just not sure I'm ready to say goodbye to my new house. I mean, literally... I just bought this house.
So, until then, he has been staying here with me. Ethan and Johnny have been coming and going with Johnny's gigs, and for the most part, Lexie and I keep busy at the office. The girl I had hired to look after Nathan, Nancy, will be helping me out at the office during the hours that Nate is at school.
For the most part, Logan still calling Ethan Kyle, or Mark, or any other name to piss him off. They bicker a lot, and they act like little kids fighting over a toy when it comes to Nathan, but they both love him and are so overprotective of him. They both get along sometimes, but Logan definitely doesn't like Ethan around me, so Ethan has been respectful and avoids being alone with me.
Speaking of school, today is his first day of school. My little man has been so nervous about going back to school. And, who wouldn't be? It's a brand new school for him. New friends, new town, so many things have changed for Nate, including finally meeting his dad.
When I met Roxie and she told me she was a teacher for first graders, I hoped she was my son's teacher, but now I dread that she may be his teacher. I don't want her taking her frustration out on him, knowing Logan and I are back together. I pray that he gets a different teacher, and I won't have to go through the trouble of transferring him to a different class.
I comb my hair, sitting at my vanity. I decided on wearing black leggings with a loose-fit cream-colored t-shirt, light make-up, and my hair left in loose curls. Logan looked so handsome this morning, wearing a light blue button-up, and a black suit. Nathan went with his school uniform, in navy pants and a light blue polo shirt, with the new sketchers Logan bought him. Logan has been smothering him with everything he wants, despite me asking him not to spoil him so much.
"Remember, baby, Nathan gets out at 3 o'clock, I will pick you up, and we'll go get him together. Oh, and lunch is at twelve-thirty today at my office, I have to stay a bit longer for a meeting. You know... Why don't I just cancel the meeting for another day? I don't want to miss our lunch date." Logan said as he struggled with his tie.
I giggled, standing up and going over to fix his tie. "Relax, Logan. I'm not sure who's more nervous about today, you? Or Nathan? Everything will be fine," I assured him, fixing his tie and kissing his lips. He sits, closing his eyes. "I just want him to have a first good day. I remember when I first came to this town, kids were brutal. I had no friends until Steven talked to me." he says making me chuckle.
"Logan that was only for like a week. You literally became Mr. Popularity the week after you came here.., and have been up to now." I say, placing my hands on his chest. He trails his hands around my waist, pulling me close to him, and kissing my lips. "And no, you do your work, and we can meet up after your meeting is over. How about the wait for you at your office this time? Eat indoors today?" I suggested. He smiled and winked, "that sounds like a great idea. Lunch at my office it is." he says smiling.
"Mom?" Nathan yells from across his room. We part, walking together to his room. "Wa hat's wrong buddy? Are you ready to go?" Logan asks Nate kneeling on one knee next to him. "Yeah, but..." he says worriedly, looking around.
"What's wrong baby?" I ask, looking at him. "I, I can't find my lucky necklace. I can't go without my necklace, mom," he says making me smile. Logan and I had gotten promise rings back in high school when we were still dating. Since the day Nathan started school, back in preschool, I gave him a gold chain, placing my ring in it, telling him it was to keep him safe. I saw him placing it on top of his dresser last night and grabbed it to clean the chain.
"Baby, it's ok. I have it, let me go get it for you, ok?" I say running back to my room and grabbing the necklace off my vanity. I came back to his room and Logan extended his arm outs he could put it on him. He glanced at it, pausing for a few seconds as he realizes what it had. He smiles, grabs the necklace, and puts it on Nathan's neck, ruffling his hair, and kissing his temple.
"Come on, buddy. Let's have some breakfast before taking off." He says, grabbing Nathan's hand and kissing me.
We decided on having a quick breakfast and made our way to Nathans school. Though the town was small, in population that is, the town in property range was huge. Nathan's school was about a twenty-minute drive, so we got into his SUV handmade our way to our son's school.
When we got there, there were so many kids already there. Amber was just getting here with her daughter as well, and so was Linda my realtor. We got to walk Nathan into his class, and thankfully, he had a male teacher, Mr. Omar, he was a young teacher as well but seemed relatively invested in his work. Logan bombarded him with questions about safety and protocols, and so much more. Meanwhile, I laughed the whole time at how cute he was being, snapped pictures of Nate talking and making friends right away with other kids, and even took pictures of Logan talking to our son's new teacher.
"Ok, baby. We'll see you after school, ok? I love you." I said as we began to get ready to leave. Logan got down on his knees and held Nathan tightly, "oh....d-dad, I... I can't breathe." Nathan exaggeratingly said making Logan sigh. "I'm going to miss you so much, buddy. Be good, if anything, don't hesitate to run to the office and tell them to call me, I'll come as soon as possible and pick you up. If you feel sick, or someone is bothering you, you, you gotta let me know ok? Don't worry about-" I rolled my eyes and pulled Logan by his suit. "Logan? He's ok, babe. Nathan is in good hands here, the school is safe, and they have staff taking care of all the kids, don't worry. Now, come on, you're going to be late for work." I said, wrapping my arm around his suit, cupping his cheek.
He sighs, looking at me as if he's scared out of his mind to leave Nathan all alone. "Ok, but if the school calls you that there's something wrong with our son, promise me that you'll call me right away," he says, looking at Nate who has now gone back to talk to his new friends.
"Babe, look at him? He's happy, and... it's getting late. We have to go." I say as I take his hand and drag him out of the classroom. "Man, is it always going to be like this? We just left him, and I already want the day to end so we can come to pick him up. See, this is why I want you to move in with me. I worry about the two of you, all the time. All the fucking time, I can't even stop thinking about the two of you while I'm at work. How am I supposed to do this now? What if something happens to him, and the school fails to call us? What if some kid wants to bully him, and he doesn't speak up? That's it..." he says, slapping his thigh, and nodding. "I'm signing him up for a self-defense class after school. That's what he needs. This way, I won't be too worried about him being bullied, I gotta call my assistant and ask her to see if my old dojo is still open." he says grabbing his phone and trying to call his assistant.
I snatch the phone away and laugh. "Stop it, Logan take it easy... breath. Baby, Nathan is fine for now. We will talk to him about the classes, and IF! he decided that he is interested in taking self-defense classes, then we will sign him up. Until then, you need to take a breather, relax." I say, placing my hands on his chest and smile.
"Yeah, I guess you're right. Thanks, babe," he says as he practices a few breathing techniques.
"Excuse me, classes are starting, all parents have to exit the school now." an all too familiar voice says making me grunt inwardly. "Oh, sorry. We're leaving now. Oh, hey Rox." Logan says as he turns to apologize for the two of us.
"Hi, Logan, Sophie," she says my name dryly. "Good to see you two. Actually, it's a good thing I see you two. Sophie, would you mind coming with me for a few minutes, I won't take too much of your time, I promise. I just need a word with you." she says, faking a smile. I look at Logan who doesn't know what is going on between the two of us.
"Sure, no problem," I say smiling in return. "I'll wait for you in the car babe," Logan says, kissing my lips and heading out of the school. "Follow me, Sophie," she says walking towards an empty room.
We both walk inside, and she goes over to her desk, grabbing a small gift bag out from underneath. "I remember you said, Nathan. Was going to attend this school, so I knew the possibility of us seeing each other would be inevitable. Sophie, I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but, Logan is still being unfaithful to you. See, the first night we were in the resort, he came to me in the middle of the night...after he had been with you. He tried to leave quickly before anyone knew, that he forgot these." she says making me scuff.
What she didn't know, was that Logan and I slept next to each other, I had wakened up early to use the bathroom and saw Steven leaving her tent. Troy and I eavesdropped in her tent and saw her pulling Logan's missing underwear out. The same underwear he was missing when he and I went swimming.
I smiled, taking the bag from her and opening it. It had Logan's more missing underwear, making me chuckle under my breath. "Nice try, Rox. But...these... Are the same underwear Logan was missing after he and I had hot passionate sex in the lake, while you." I neared her, glaring at her with a mischievous smile. "Got to watch us make love to each other... Is that it, Roxie?" I say making her face red.
"I saw Steven leaving your tent the morning after, you can't lie to me, sweetheart. Not this time, I am not...falling..for your lies. I trust Logan, and he has been sleeping in my bed every night since then, eating breakfast, lunch, and diner with me...and our son. Now, I am going to say this to you once, and I hope it's enough for you to understand. I am not going anywhere, and I'll be damn if I let some whore like you get in between my man and me. Got it?" I spoke in a cold soft tone.
She was pissed off, that...I could tell. But, I was done caring about other females. I was not going to back down. Logan has shown me how much that he truly is invested in us, and it is time I do the same. I'm all in, in our relationship, and am not letting go. Not this time!
