Still In Love With You

Chapter 35- Pardon The Hormones

Ch. 35 / 87 Sep 17, 2024

Sophie

"Baby, I'm starving. Can we go get a hamburger from Maggie's diner, before heading back home?" I was so tired. I mean, I'm not doing anything other than laying on the hospital exam chair, but still, I was getting exhausted.

Logan stood by my side, smiling at me. He leans down, kissing my lips, "Anything you want baby. We can get food for Nate and Kenzie if you want, so you won't have to cook today. What do you think?" he smiles, inches away from me? I think that's the best idea he's had today. I could sure use a small nap this afternoon.

I've been running around so much lately, that I feel I rarely get time to rest. "Mmh, yes. Sounds like a plan." I say, making him chuckle.

The doctor came soon, and she examined me. Logan couldn't handle the examination, so he got out, making us both laugh. When she was done, she got up, turned on the ultrasound machine, and waited until I got dressed again. Logan came back in after her, taking a seat next to me. She turned down the lights and git to work.

"Ok, I have warm jelly, so don't worry. You won't feel the cold discomfort of the lubricant," she said, squeezing a big heap on my stomach. The image of my tiny peanut came into view. My eyes watered at the sight. It was no bigger than a tiny pea, but sure enough..., there it was.

Logan's eyes went wide, filled with tears as he stared at the screen. "There it is. Look at your baby, guys," she said in a sweet, gentle voice. He gripped my hand tightly, kissing the top of my head. She began measuring the baby, and took two copies of the ultrasound for her records and gave us one copy to us.

"It looks like you're just starting." She began measuring and jotting down, using her small graph. "Looks like, you're about two weeks along." she said, writing on her papers.

"Your due date is June 22 of next year. Now, I'll need you to stop by my reception, to schedule an appointment. I'll need to start you on prenatal vitamins, and please...don't forget your iron pills. You must take them without a miss. I'll write you a prescription and you can get them on the pharmacy right here in our building. Everything looks really good, Sophie. Congratulations to the two of you." she said, after cleaning me up, and helping me to sit.

"Thank you, doctor. I'll see you next time." we bid her goodbye soon as she gave me the prescription and we made our way to the reception.

When we made ourselves to the front desk, the receptionist already had my next appointment ready. Logan got to it before I could take it, taking his phone out and scheduling it into his agenda. He quickly grabbed the ultrasound, taking a picture of it and sending a message to his mom, my dad, Ashley, and my brothers.

When we were on our way back down to the car, my phone vibrated inside my purse, and I realized I had numerous missed phone calls from my son's school. I quickly answered, placing the phone to my ear, "Hello."

"Ms.Spencer, I apologize for the inconvenience, but we have been trying to reach you for the past hour. I'm afraid we have a bit of bad news." my heart began to pound greatly. I dreaded getting these phone calls in my son's old school from when he would get hurt by his bully. It was never a good sight for me.

"Are you telling me, that my son threw juice on the head of a little girl? Baby, why would you do that? What happened?" I glanced at Nate, who was still hiccuping from all the crying he had done. Logan leaned down, embracing Nate, but for some odd reason, Nate pushed him away. "Why didn't you want me when I was a baby, dad? Why didn't you want to be with mommy? You said you loved me." his voice quivered, and he slowly sobbed. It was puzzling for me to see him this way. He has never questioned his dad about this. It was so bad to see him react this way, and I know that the only e at fault for all this was me.

"Buddy, why would you say that? Of course I love you. And, I know I wasn't with you when you were small, but I'm here now. Believe me, if I knew you existed back then, I would have been with you since day one. I like be you and mommy, I love you guys so much." Logan explained to Nate calmly, making him understand that none of this was his fault. But my blood boiled, I was beyond angry. Who the hell had told these things to it son? Better yet, who the hell told this little girl all these things, that she felt she had the right to bully my son? Someone was going to have to give me answers, and they had a lot of explaining to do to me.

"Look, I understand that this is a personal family matter, but we cannot oversee what has happened here. I'm afraid that Nathan will have to be suspended for a day because of his actions. I'm sorry Mr. And Mrs. Spencer, but we simply can not allow this kind of behavior." I looked at the principal in disbelief, and if there is something I have learned is that I am my son's first- and biggest, most important advocate.

"What about the little girl?" I said stopping her ranting and making her look at me with a puzzled face. "Im sorry?"

"What.about.the little girl? What actions were taken in her behalf? Because I'm guessing that if you are making my son have a bad mark on his record for defending himself from the harmful words she told him, that you also took action against her for hurting my son, emotionally. Am I right?" her eyes went wide, and cheeks became red as her mouth gawked open.

"Um, no. No, Mrs. Spencer, I'm afraid that your son was the one at fault for his actions, so we called her parents to come pick her up, and she left crying, she was emotionally reckless as well-"

"ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? So it's ok for her to bully my son, with harshful words, said by adults with big mouths, but it's not ok for my son to put her in her place? Oh.., so I guess bullying is ok, as long as it's not physical right? Because words have no effect on a person?" I snapped, and I yelled my heart out. I had enough of this stupid school system that does NOTHING to kids that bully, causing emotional damage to a person, and as long as it's nothing too big physically, they still don't get in trouble. But God forbid the bullied person stands up, because then all hell breaks lose. Bull shit I tell you.

"Baby, please. Calm down."

"Don't tell me to calm down, Logan. You and I both know I'm right. My son will not be part of this broken school system that unfairly treats these situations. If you're going to suspend my kid, you bet your ass that I need to see justice, I want that little girl facing her own responsibilities for what she did to my son." I stood up, pointing towards outside as if the little girl stood out there.

I was heated with anger. And I don't care if anyone thought I was being unfair as well, I wanted equal justice for this matter. Sure, I was not going to overlook at the fact my son was wrong for pouring a drink on the little girl, but if she had it coming to her, she better be ready to face the consequences as well.

I argued the matter, and I made her take proper measures against the little girl because I warned her that I'd take it to the district if not. I grabbed my son's hand, walking out of that office with anger written all over me. This school was where I came when I was little, and up to this day, it was a school I loved and appreciated, until now.

"Im sorry for this misunderstanding sir, I really am." she told Logan as I began to walk out. "Yeah, I'm sure you are. And, I..... I guess I apologize for the hormones, my wife is pregnant, she's a bit emotional right now." I heard him say, as I turned by the door.

"LOGAN!" I yelled, frustrated, ready to get the hell out of this place.
