I held Sophie's hand while we walked with our son through the park. Her hand was so warm, and she was still, if not more, beautiful than I could remember. But, she still looked pensive, she was quiet, and that concerned me greatly.
We finally came to a halt and let Charlie lose. He ran and played with Nathan on the grass. I love seeing him run and laugh. I still can't believe all this is real. I mean... I have a son! And with the girl I love? Fuck- yes!
I pulled her arm slightly, bringing her hands around my waist, and wrapping my arms over her hands. I kissed her forehead and let her lean her head on my chest. "What's wrong, Baby girl? You've been an awful quiet." she sighs, looking up at me with her honey-brown eyes.
She purses her eyebrows and sighs. "How could I've been so stupid? If only I hadn't been so naive, and stupid when Amber told me you had slept with her? I should have confronted her sooner, I should have stayed and talked to you to clarify the situation. Nathan would not have lived six years of his life away from his dad. I feel like such a-"
"Stop it. I know you feel guilty. I was honestly mad at you first. When I heard Nathan call you mom for the first time, I had so many thoughts running through my mind. But deep inside I hoped and prayed he was mine." she glances at me, with tears in her eyes.
"You did?" she asks making my heart yearn for her more. I chuckle, tightening my hold around her and kiss her lips. I turn, looking at Nathan playing on the grass with Charlie. Charlie tugs at the rope, making Nathan pull it harder away from him. I smirk at the sight of my son being happy. "Look at him? He's perfect. Why wouldn't I want him? He's the result of the love we shared for each other, isn't he? Why wouldn't I want you as my forever girl, and him as my son?" I gazed tentatively at him. He looked so happy. I hoped I was able to keep that smile on his face all the time.
Sophie smiles, I lean in kissing her lips and slowly wipe away her tears. She goes on her tip-toes, kissing my lips again, making me smile. "I missed you, you know that?" I say making her smile. "I missed you more," she whispers as I kiss her softly. We make our way and sit on a bench while Nathan continues to play with our old pup.
I still remember the day I got Charlie. It was a gift for Sophie for her eighteenth birthday. I had stopped after school to pick him up from a guy who was selling them because he couldn't take care of all the pups his dog had given birth to. She was so excited the day we got Charlie. But when she left, she left Charlie with her dad. I was so crushed to see her gone, but it hurt me that she had left Charlie as well. He was just a puppy back then, I've had him ever since.
My college didn't accept pets in the dorms either, so I rented a place of my own just to make sure Charlie stayed with me the whole time. He's been a spoiled pup since then, and I know he missed her because he hated whenever a girl was visiting my place. He'd bark at them and even chewed on one of the girl's shoes. She was not happy, to say the least. But, when he saw her the other day at the park, he instantly ran to her and began to happily wag his tail.
I thought it was odd that he'd react this was, since he doesn't like other girls arp and me, besides my sister Ashley or my mom. I guess he still knows who his momma is.
I sat next to Sophie, placing my hands around her waist and placing my chin on her neck while we admired the view. Nathan was getting along perfectly with Charlie, it was like an instant bond between them. Sophie sighs, and leans her cheek against my head. "You know eventually we're going to have to talk about all this right? I know you have tons of questions for me about Nathan, and I don't blame you for being mad at me for taking off. You have all the right to be angry. I left without an explanation and I hid Nathan from you for six years. I'd be lying to you if I said I wasn't disappointed in myself for keeping him m from you. There have been days when I wanted to hop on a plane and go to New York to tell you about him, but I always coward out."
I lifted my head, looking at her with a bit of sadness, "Sophie, what you did was wrong. I missed so much with him. He's gone through so many milestones that I will never be able to go through with him. I lost the privilege of seeing him growing up through all that, but... I also know that things can be fixed. I sure as hell didn't wake up this morning thinking I was going to find out I have a son, but I can also tell you that I am so happy right now, that I just want to embrace him and be able to stay in his life for the rest of our lives. Yes, I am bothered, and I do have a lot of questions but all in its due time. For now, all I want is for him to enjoy his park-time with us and Charlie. We will take a step at a time to better this situation, and all I ask of you is that you let me be there. I want to be there for him and let him know that I'm not going anywhere, that I love him, and I will always protect him. He's my son Sophie, I want to be there for my son." she smiles, cupping my face and kissing me. Her warm touch makes me smile, like she always did back in high school.

By nightfall, Sophie was still debating on to the club, but I talked her in on it. I called the whole gang and they were thrilled to go. If it's one thing they love, is going out to party. I mean we are mostly in our 24's going on 25 years old, and though most of us are professionals, it doesn't stop us from going out to have fun. It pained me to know that Sophie had to skip all the young adult, carefree phase. While most college students were out drunk and partying on most nights, she was home alone, taking care of our baby, Myself included, I was torn by her disappearance that I let myself go. I got so wasted most of the time, because I wanted to stop thinking about her, but it just intensified my thoughts of her.
My mom was out on a date with Derreck, since it was Friday night after all, but Ashley had just two more days before taking off to Columbia University, so she was happy to spend time with Nathan. I picked up Sophie, leaving Nathan at my house and drove down to the club. And may I add, I loved the pissy face Kyle-that is his name right? Was making. He looked pissed as fuck when I picked Sophie up from her house in my nice black and blue Pagani Huayra. My girl deserved to ride in style, and this was one of my favorite new little toys.
Her face was lit up, and her mouth gawked open when she saw me pull up. Though, it did concern her when we drove Nathan to my house in it. I could tell she was nervous the whole way, unlike Nathan who was laughing and asking me to drive faster. (btw- I would never drive recklessly while my son is in the car)
We made our way to the club and I immediately went around to grab her hand and help her out of the car. She looked freaking hit, wearing a skin tight blue dress that hugged her curves perfectly. The only bad thing was it showed her beautiful thighs, and I knew there were going to be more than a few heads turning to eye my girl.
'Logan, Sophie, over here." Troy called out to us by the door while waving his hand. Everyone was already here, they were waiting for us to enter. The owner of this club was my old high school buddy Sam, every other day, he held an 80's theme and the club was getting popular. We made our way and said hi to everyone, made our way inside, and found nice tables by the end of the club to sit down.
I grabbed Sophie's hand, helping her to slide in and take a seat. The music was lit, party lights going in all directions, people dancing everywhere, and the bar was extremely busy. I flagged a waiter down and we all ordered drinks. But, Sophie was still a little tense about leaving Nathan for the night.
"Hey Soph, you want me to get you a drink?" yes, I know, his name is Ethan, but who the hell does he think he is? I glanced at him menacingly as he leaned in to ask Sophie. She smiles and nods yes, unaware I was bothered by his presence. After a few drinks, she finally got a little comfortable and pulled me with her to go dance. I happily obliged, walking next to her, trailing my hand around her waist, and smiling at the asshole as we passed by him. "She's mine, bud." I word out as I pass by him and smile.
This feels good. So many unanswered questions still roam through my thick skull, but tonight, I just want to enjoy dancing next to my girl, go home, hopefully with her, and see that my son is ok. What could possibly go wrong? As long as Kyle stays away, everything will be just fine.
