Logan
I watched her leave, her car pulling out the diner with my son as I stood, feeling like an idiot. "Well, that escalated quickly. I thought you two had gotten back together since you shared hot steamy kisses in front of everyone." Steven placed his hand on my shoulder increasing my irritation. "Shut up Steven. I would of if it Roxanne hadn't shown up."
"What do you mean? I thought shit was over before it even began with you two? Didn't you say you only went out with her for like two dates?" I glanced at him irritated. This whole day has felt like shit so far and is barely one in the afternoon. "Yeah, technically, the first one didn't count because Dylan and Troy tricked me into a blind date. The second time, yeah, sure, I invited her. But, she just wasn't it for me. We're ok as friends, but not for dating. I'm not at all interested in her."
"Well, no shit. We can all tell you're still whipped on Sophie. She got pretty hot man. You better do something and get her back before someone else comes and tries to snatch her away from you." I know Steven is right. She looks absolutely beautiful. Motherhood surely played a nice role in her. "I'm getting her back, Steven. This time, I'm not giving up so easily."
"Hey, by the way. Who was that cute kid that Lexie came in with?" I looked at him and smiled. I had just found out Nathan was mine, and I already feel like a proud father. "He's mine and Sophie's. And his name is Nathan," I added leaving Steven with his mouth gawked openly.
I went to the table where the rest of our friends sat, Roxie was already sitting down, flirting with my coworker Aiden. He's already a senior partner since he's been working for the firm for over eight years. She likes older men, and frankly, that's ok with me. I could care less what she does with her free time.
I was determined to go find her and ask her to give us a chance. To make our relationship and our family work. I need to get her back, and most importantly, get to know my son.
I need to know about him, his likes, his dislikes, everything. The sooner the better. I grabbed my phone as I walked out of the diner and dialed Troy's number. He picked up immediately, I need Sophie's address, ASAP."
"Right now? I thought you were giving her space dude?" He answered calmly.
"T, now. I need to talk to her."
"Alright, alright. Calm down, what happened?" He asked making me irritated. I opened the door to my car and hopped in.
"What happened? What happened is that she came to talk to me, she kissed me, I swear I thought we were getting back together T." He laughed making me angrier. "Then you fucked it up, didn't you?" He added.
"No, T. Roxanne happened. I told you it was a bad idea. She fucking saw me arguing with Sophie over an important issue and just came up and kissed me too. Now Sophie won't talk to me, she thinks Rox and I are dating."
"Well, wasn't that the point? To make her jealous?" Troy asked, I know he doesn't have a clue about Nathan, but this is starting to piss me off.
"No, T. Sophie and I have a kid together. A kid, T. She left expecting MY baby. I just found out a while ago. Dylan was right, her son is mine, I need to make things right T. Before I lose both of them for good."
"Shit." He answered going silent. "I'm sorry, Logan. I, I didn't know until I heard you mention it to Dylan. I'll ask Roxie to back off. Go get your girl and son Logan. I'll send you the address through text." He added making me feel relieved.
I received the text soon after and typed it on my map, I knew exactly where she lived. I made my way out there. It's time I win my family back.
*******
Sophie
"I feel so defeated, Lex. I lost him for good this time. Did you see Roxie? She is so much more beautiful than I remembered. She looks like she likes him a lot."
"But he loves you, Sophie. You can so tell that he still loves you. Besides, you said it yourself, she said they're nothing serious." Lexie tried to comfort me, but it was of no help. I felt like shit, knowing I had kissed him. He has a girlfriend. He's taken, and I kissed him. I feel like such a scumbag.
I was glad Nathan had fallen asleep. I hate talking about my problems in front of him. I don't want him to hear any of it. He's far too small to understand what's going on, and I don't want him stressing over any of this.
"No, Lexie. He doesn't love me anymore. He got caught in the moment, kissing me, but nothing else. Roxie and he make a nice couple, and I won't interfere between them anymore." I needed to control myself and stop crying over him. All I've done since the day I came back was thinking about him. And all it's brought me, is more heartache.
I pulled over towards my driveway and got surprised to see a black Tesla parked in my driveway. I know that license too darn well. I waited for it, knowing what was coming, and before I knew it, Lexie shrieked with joy.
"Eeehhhh!" She got off the car soon as I came to a halt and ran to Johnny's arms. Johnny is her boyfriend. They've been dating for the past four years. He's tried to propose, but she says she's not ready.
But my eyes went wide when I saw the one guy who's had my back since day one, living in Los Angeles. "Ethan Hart," I called his name out with a smile. He smiled back, walking towards me, wrapping me into a big bear hug. "Hey, gorgeous." His husky voice vibrating, followed by his signature side smirk.
"Nice place you got here." He said looking back at the house. "Thanks. You like?" I asked sincerely. I had just added new plants and flowers to the yard, I wanted to create a nice curve appeal to the front and give it more color.
"It's so homey, so...YOU. I love it, babes. You sure as hell have good taste. But, you moved a bit far from California don't you think so hun? Why so far?" He said smiling and bending down to take a sniff from the roses I had planted.
He smiled and looked towards the car. Nathan was still dragging his feet from the small nap he had just taken but became wide awake as he saw Ethan on our driveway.
Ethan smiled and bent down on his knees, extending his arms out. Nathan loved Ethan. He was a good friend to us. He was there for him and me when we needed a hand and when we were going through tough times. He was like a big brother to me.
"Ethan!" Nathan called his name out, launching himself in his arms. "Hey, buddy, I missed you kid!" Ethan smiled and hugged Nathan tightly.
"This....this here made the long-ass drive worth it. I missed this kid." He says, grunting and picking up Nathan in his arms. He tosses him in the air, catching him, and spinning him around. Nathan giggled, extending his arms out as if he was flying.
"Sure... And that's your only reason, right?" Lexie asked him, making him blush. I glanced at him, curiously, and he turned the opposite from me, running his hand through the back of his neck and clearing his throat.
"Anyway. How about a tour of your house, babes?" Ethan suggested. I smiled and nodded, walking towards the door and opening it for them.
"Ethan, do you want to see my room? Mom just got me a new game, you want to play with me?" Nathan suggests making Ethan smile. "I'd love to buddy. We can play on your console while we wait for pizza. If it's ok with your mom, we can order pizza, ok?" He says glancing at me. I roll my eyes and see Nathan giving me his little puppy eyes.
I sigh, giving in to their request. "Fine. But, only this time, you already broke the rules of having chocolate cake before lunch." I say as they ignored me and high-fives each other with a smile. "Yes, thanks, mom. Come on, Ethan. Let's go play." Nathan grabs his arm, pulling him in the direction of his room. After Mrs. Clark and her son, Skylar, Ethan was my biggest support. He was there through my toughest times and lent me a hand when I needed one.
While I threw a nice salad and grilled a few pieces of chicken, Ethan took advantage to spend time with Nathan and played their game. Soon after, the pizza came, and for the first time in a long time, Nathan nagged about having to turn off his console. He wanted to keep playing his game because Ethan kept letting him win.
"I missed you so much, Johnny." Lexie ran her hands across Johnny's hair, making him grin.
"Now, honestly speaking though, what in the world are you two doing here?" I asked as Ethan leaned his hand on top of my shoulder. "What? You think I wouldn't come out here, and visit our two favorite girls in the world?" Johnny added, kissing Lexie on her lips. 'We missed you girls. And our big boy Xander! Right big boy?" Nathan loved being called by his middle name. Which, Nancy, Johnny, and Ethan didn't mind giving into his preference. Nathan laughed as Ethan picked him on his blog while he sat at a stool on the kitchen island.
"Well, it's true, we missed you girls, plus we also came because I accepted the gig from your buddy Troy. I figured the wedding is in a month or so, so we might as well come and check out the place." He added making me roll my eyes.
"A month? The wedding is in December, Johnny. We're in the last week of August." I replied making Lexie laugh. "Ok, ok, you got me. I missed this crazy woman, ok? Besides, most of my gigs are scheduled nearby, so I figured I'd come crashing your place first." He added making me smile. It's s always good to have him around.
With Lexie staying with me in my house now, and now Johnny and Ethan visiting, it makes me feel like I am not so alone anymore. Troy is still my best friend, but he has been so busy with preparations for the wedding that we haven't had a lot of time to hang out together.
"And what about you handsome? What dragged you along?" I turned to look at Ethan, "Besides being this guy's manager." pointed at Johnny. "Well, I figured I'd come by and check on my favorite gal and her AMAZING kiddo," he emphasized on the word amazing as he lifted Nathan and placed him, sitting on his shoulders.
I had such a crazy day. It went from good to bad, to amazing, and shitty when I saw Roxie kiss Logan. It hurt me to see him moving on, but I knew it was a possibility. A possibility I had to get used to seeing. "How long will you stay Johnny?" Lexie asked Johnny. "Until you get tired of seeing me here. I'm booked from now till January in the states nearby. I can come and visit between guys if that's ok? I mean, you did mention you were moving in with Sophie, and...yeah."
"Johnny, you and Ethan are always welcome in my house, you know that," I assured him, placing the salad on the table along with the pizza, and began to set the plates. We were laughing and joking around when the bell rang. "I'll get it. You guys go ahead and have a seat." Ethan sprinted towards the door opening it. I felt a surge of butterflies invade my stomach as I heard his voice, followed by my son, running to the door.

Logan
"Hi, can I help you?" some guy answered the door. I wanted to fix things with Sophie, and clear the air between her and me. "Logan!" I smiled as I see my son running to me. I scooped him up in my arms, hugging him tightly. "Hey, there he is. Hey, big guy." I said kissing the top of his head. He turned looking at the dude who opened the door.
"Ethan, this is Logan, my dad. Dad, this Ethan. He's my mom and my friend." we both looked at each other. He sure as hell doesn't look like he's here just to be a friend. If he so fucking thinks he's here to steal my girl away, he's got another thing coming. I am not going down without a fight. Now, more than ever, I'm fighting for my family.
