Still In Love With You

Chapter 47- Priorities

Ch. 47 / 87 Sep 17, 2024

Logan

"Please consider it, Logan. I would love to have you back in New York. You can do so much more. Your penthouse is still there, and if you agree to work with me there, I can get you a nice car to move freely. I can help Sophie get a nice place for her business, and you know that all you have to do is say the words. I can write a letter of recommendation for your son to get into a prestigious school out there." Mr. Thompson was reluctant. He was not going to give up until I was back in New York City, helping him, and working under his wing.

But this is home to me. I can't just leave. Sophie was my main reason for coming back, but this is where my heart is. The people here are important to me. This town is important to me. "Thank you, Mr. Thompson, I will keep it in mind. You have a good evening sir. I'm going to place one last bid before the auction is closed." I smiled, pointing towards the table. He smiled, nodding his head and patting my shoulder.

"Go ahead, son. I think I'm going for the dessert table for some of your mom's mochi's, Sophie was right, they are so good and very addicting." we chuckled as he pointed towards the reception hall. We had both left the reception and stood by the entrance, where the music was not as loud. "See you soon, son," he says, waving me off and walking back inside.

I soon followed behind, entering the hall.

Sophie was taking an awfully long time coming back. I wondered if she was ok? I looked around, seeing Roxanne was nowhere to be seen, and that just raced red flags for me in every direction. I wanted to make sure that she was ok. The doctor told her that she can't be stressed out. It's just as bad for her, as it is for the baby.

I looked over towards our table and see Steven. Like always... He's flirting with a girl. I roll my eyes, sighing. This guy is just unbelievable. He can't seem to keep it in his pants, regardless of how much he talks about wanting to find a wife and settle down.

But, what can I say? He's my best friend. All I can do is smack him over his head and try to get some sense into that hard head of his.

Lexie was passing by close to me, I pulled her slightly towards me, leaning close to talk in her ear over the loud music. "Hey, have you seen Sophie? She's been gone for a while now." I asked concerned. She looks at me worried and then looks around searching for her as well. "No, sorry. Where did she say she was heading to?"

"She just needed to use the restroom. Do you think she's ok?" I asked, hoping nothing had happened to her. "Maybe we should just go out and look for her? I'm sure she's ok, but...just to make sure." we looked at each other worried. She pulled Troy as he continued to dance next to her, making him turn and filling him in on what was happening. He immediately signaled Dylan and they both followed us.

I doubt anyone would dare to hurt her physically, but Sophie has been very emotional lately, and the least I wanted was to find someone who has done something to hurt her. We left immediately, searching for her in every direction and possible corner. Dylan, Troy, Sam, Steven, and their dates joined in. We didn't want to start a commotion, so we kept the search silently and searched for her. Deciding on sending a group message, or calling immediately as soon as we found her.

I was on edge for some reason. My heart pounded wildly in my chest as my nerves became tense. What the hell am I going to do? I swear if anyone touches a single hair on her head, I'll raise hell.

Just as I passed by the information desk, Jason, Sophie's youngest brother glanced at me. I had no choice but to tell him what was happening. "Dad's not answering his phone. Have you tried calling Sophie?" he asked, concerned about her whereabouts. "Her purse is still back at the table. Her phone is still inside. Damn it..." I said as I pulled my hair slightly, and cursed the situation. "Where could she be?" I was becoming desperate by the minute. It's been almost forty minutes since she left.

I walked solely by the garden next to the bistro. I don't know why I am so emotional? It could be the fact that she keeps threatening me about Logan? Or everything that she said. My heart aches for that little girl. I get it now... Kaitlyn is always moody because she's angry, hurt, and in so much emotional pain.

To have a mother that doesn't care about you, because she says she reminds her of the dad, and won't have your dad in your life... It must feel miserable. I can't imagine how she feels. I glanced over towards the bistro, and see dad smiling, and talking to Pascal, his main supervisor and friend, and a few guests.

I know he can sense my presence. He immediately looks up towards me and smiled, waving at me. I return an apologetic smile, but he somehow senses something is wrong. He gestures to Pascal, and excuses himself from the guests, and walks out of the bistro, towards me.

"There's my princess. What's going on, sweetheart? Why are you out here so lonesome?" he says, giving me a big bear hug. I sigh at the feel of his arms. No one has ever made me feel secure in their arms as Dad and Logan do. "Hi, daddy," I reply softly. He pulls away slightly, holding my arms and smirking softly.

"Baby? Are you ok? Come on, let's take a seat. Talk to papa."

He takes my hand, pulling me towards a table for two in the outdoor dining, sitting me next to one of those huge outdoor heaters. I sigh, "Thanks, daddy. I didn't mean to worry you. I'm fine, I just...have a lot in my mind." he smiles, gesturing to a waiter to come over.

Dad knew I was pregnant, he was the first to find out, besides Riley, Ashley, and my brothers. "Kevin, bring my daughter a nice warm chamomile tea, and a coffee for me, will you son?" he says, patting him on his shoulder. "Yes, sir. Immediately." the young boy replies with a smile.

We sat there for a while, drinking our warm tea and coffee, while I poured myself out to my dad. He had no idea everything that has been going on with my personal life since I came back to town. Between nodding, tight fists, and gritted teeth, dad listened silently.

"Baby girl, I had no idea you were going through all this. My pour grandson, how could this happen to him? I am going to have a good talk with that principal. Either she gets her shit straight, or I will make sure she and that teacher get fired, that's for sure."

"Dad, that's not necessary, I promise. I just... I feel so bad for that little girl. I wish there was something I could do to help her." he chuckles, pulling me in for a hug. "You know, you are so much like your mom. Always thinking of others, despite having so much on your plate. You both have such beautiful hearts...willing to forgive and give second, third, fourth chances to people. You're incredible, you know that?" he says, smiling.

"I miss her so much, dad. I wish she was here. She would know exactly what to do." he smiles, and takes a deep sigh.

"I miss her too, sweetie. And yes, I know what you mean. She always had a solution to things. I can just picture her, pinching the curve of her life and crossing her hands while she gets her ideas in order before giving you a nice pep-talk." he says, making me chuckle.

He leans over, wiping away my tears, and cupping my face. "Have you told Logan, about all this?" I sigh, pursing my lips.

"No, but I will, tonight. He needs to know everything that's been going on. Before it gets more out of hand." I reply, making him smile. "That's my girl," he says, smiling. "It's sad to know there are mothers that don't have their priorities straight. Surely one day he will regret being so selfish, thinking only about herself, instead of her daughter. And how can Steven do this to her? I never thought he'd neglect his own daughter."

"I'm not sure he knows dad. I mean, she mentioned that she had told him, but I have a feeling she was lying. There's something she still isn't saying, I think there's more to this, and she's too ashamed or scared to say. What if... What if he did want to be in her daughter's life, but she lied saying it was someone else's... It would explain why Steven never claimed her daughter?" I suggested. There were so many possible outcomes. But if I wanted to help that little girl, I needed help from a hot green-eyed lawyer. Good thing I was banging that hotness, and hopefully, I could get a free consultation.

"Sophie. Oh, God, baby? You had me so worried. Where have you been?" Logan startles me, kneeling before me, and pulling me in for a hug, kissing me all over as he cups my face.

"Logan? I'm sorry, I guess I lost track of time. I didn't mean to worry you." I say as he tightens his grip on me, unwilling to let go.

"Don't you ever do that to me again. You had us all worried."

"Us?" I asked, looking at him with a smile. "Yes, everyone was looking for you, Lexie, Troy, Steven," he says as he brings out his phone.

"I gotta call them, let them know you're ok." he gets on his phone dials Steven's number and lets them know that he's found me. I was in awe of him. How did I get so lucky to have a man who cares so much for me and my son? Indeed I had to have done a good deed to deserve such a great man, right?
