Walking into the camp and up to Lucifer was not hard to do at all. She was relieved that three men there spying did not try to stop her. They were shocked to see her and surprised by her demand to see her grandfather. They did not know how to react and by the time their brains started registering what had happened, Lucifer had her by the arm and was ready to transport them elsewhere. She looked the three in the eye and smiled, waving goodbye.
Lucifer was grinning at her and smirking. Katia just stared at him. In his deep sexy voice that made most women fall at his feet, he said to her, “How convenient you walk into my camp requesting to see Uranus. Where are your mate and his warriors? Laying in wait for us to move on?”
She gave no answer and just stared at nothing. Katia waited for Lucifer to get on with taking her to her grandfather. She wanted to get this over. He tried once again, making his voice gentler, “Come on little one, tell me where your mate and his warriors are hiding?”
Katia shrugged her shoulders to say she didn’t know where they were. She really didn’t. Nathan was probably back at the pack house deciding who his next victim would be. At least Alpha Lorn was not like that and had understood the pain he caused her. He even apologized to her and her pack for his brutish behavior. He turned out to be the only good Alpha she could remember meeting. It did make Katia wonder what it would have been like if he had not rejected her. Something told her though that he was not really hers to begin with. Lorn belonged to another, and Katia was sure she knew who.
Thinking of the two Alphas made Katia’s eyes start to water, and she blinked rapidly to keep the tears from falling. Lucifer did not miss the tears in her eyes though. “Ah, trouble in paradise, little one? What did he do to make you want to put yourself in the hands of the one who wants you dead?”
The little goddess continued to stare at nothing and not react to anything he said. He decided to use one of his talents to get his answers. He reached out psychically to look at her memories. Finding what he was looking for, he retreated as quickly as he could. So, Mister goody two shoes Alpha lost his temper with his little goddess and acted no better than anyone else that ever had her in their grip. No wonder she showed no emotions. She had cut herself off from the world and feeling everything. It is how she is going to deal with Uranus and his stupidity.
Looking at her with real sadness this time, Lucifer admired Katia and her determination to end Uranus’ revenge for her sister’s benefit. She knew if her grandfather allowed her to live, she would never see her family again. He swore to himself and her right then, “I promise Katia, I will bring you news of your sister and family whenever I can. I will not let you think you are alone, if he lets you live.”
She finally looked at him questioningly, and he continued, “If Uranus decides to end your life, I will not be able to visit you. He will end all of you. The goddess and the human elements Zeus bestowed on you and Selene.”
She nodded at him, but he had to ask, “You understand what I am telling you? If he kills you, you will cease to exist completely. You will not be able to come back ever. You will be gone. The goddess part of you too. Selene will be without her twin forever.”
She nodded once again and Lucifer sighed, “Let’s go, then. I will stay with you until the deal is done and I know the outcome. I am sure you have your safety net in play to ensure Uranus keeps his word once the deal is done.”
One more time, Katia nodded her head yes, and he said, “Hold on to my hand. She blinked once and when she opened her eyes, she was standing in a great room with a huge throne chair covered in sea-green velvet. Surrounding the chair are green plants of all kinds. Some had dark green leaves, the color of the leaves of trees deep in the darkest part of the forest. Others had light green leaves the color of olives, more had mustardy yellow leaves, and so many other versions of the colors green and yellow. There were no windows, and nothing adorned the walls. Just the chair and plants.
Suddenly, a loud voice was bellowing across the room, “Who do we have here? Lucifer, you brought me one of my granddaughters. How thoughtful of you.” The voice belongs to a tall, pale, whisp of a man. No muscles did this titan have. He had long white scraggled hair, like he had not washed it in ages, and a long beard to match. He wore white robes. All the white on that pale skin made him look sickly. Katia was not fooled by his appearance. She knew he was as powerful as her father and uncles. He just chose his moments when he showed his power.
Lucifer pulled her forwards as he started filling Uranus in on the latest happenings. “So, the little goddess requested an audience with you. I did not have to hunt or capture her. Be careful digging around in her head, you are not going to like what you find, and her wolf does not like the invasion.” Lucifer told her grandfather as he walked and leaned back against one of the walls. He looked at Katia, letting her know he would be right there until this came to an end.
Her grandfather said, “You wanted an audience? Well, let’s not beat around the bush. What is it you want to see me about little Katia?”
Katia snarled at him like he didn’t already know why she was there. ‘I will give you my life. But I want you to leave Selene alone and let her have Zeus’ gift without your interference.” She whispered hoarsely.
Her grandfather looked at her for a moment, “Come here child.” He ordered her. Katia moved in his direction without hesitation. Once she was standing directly in front of him, he lifted his right hand and aimed his long nailed first two fingers towards her throat. She figured this was it. He was going to use his powers and kill her now. She decided against closing her eyes, just stared at him waiting. Aza started getting antsy as she felt an invasive push into her mind. It was there and then it wasn’t. The grandfather then reached out and touched her throat. It was like a bolt of hot electricity shot around her neck. Then nothing but cool air against her skin.
Her grandfather continued to study her a few more minutes and then said, “Tell me, Katia, what would your greatest wish be if I let you live.”
Katia started to give him her answer and was shocked to hear her voice was no longer a hoarse whisper but a soft melody. It was not very loud but stronger than before and beautiful to the ears. Her grandfather said, “It is the best I can do with the damage to the throat muscles and vocal cords. Now continue with your answer, granddaughter.”
Confused by the way he was acting, she went on, “I would like to live in peace. Aza and I would like to have our own place with land. Our own things and to be left alone. No mates, just us. I want my sister to have the life she wants without fear of you. I want this revenge nonsense to be over. Selene and I never did anything to you. It was our parents. You should chase after them if you are that mad. The only other thing I would ask is if I would be able to see grandmother.”
Uranus shuddered at the mention of his wife, “Why would you want to see her? She is mad, putting our boys up to usurping me.”
Katia smirked at that, “Because you would not stop cheating on her. She did what she needed to do, and you still got another child out of the mess.” Katia was referring to her Aunt Aphrodite, who came out of the waves of the sea when Uranus’ privates bled into the waters.
“I could kill you like I have planned for many years.” Her grandfather said to her. But then the fierceness on his face morphed into kindness, and he said, “I tire of this cat and mouse game with you girls also. I find it boring now that, so many are willing to spy and provide information because of the Angelic war brewing with the gods.”
“So, you are not going to kill me?” Katia asked carefully.
Uranus grabbed her, and she thought that she was meeting her end, and he did nothing but hold her in his embrace. After what seemed like an eternity of him just holding her there, he said, “That quick push into your mind was me and I saw all I needed to. I was so angry at your father and uncles that I did not care how I was harming you girls. I thought the only way to get to them was to hurt their offspring. I thought it funny that I never gave final god’s death to you both. I kept letting you relive lives with the same ending over and over.”
Katia let out a whimper at the memories coming forward in her mind, and he continued to hold her and explain, “I no longer want to hurt you girls like that. After seeing those memories and what you have dealt with in this newer earth life, I have decided I will let you live and give you the peace you wish for. However, everyone else will think you are dead. Only I, Lucifer, and Cronos will know the truth, and they will take an oath to keep the fact that you are living a secret."
Katia looked up at him in disbelief. This was going much easier than she thought. Why? Was he going to trick her? “You will leave Lili alone and let her live her life no matter how she chooses?” She asked her grandfather.
“Yes, he said. I already saw that Cronos will ensure I keep my word, and I am giving him a way to see it is so. If I do not keep my word to you, then he will break his oath and show everyone where you are, ending my life because your father will kill me.”
Katia looked over at Lucifer, and he nodded his head, letting her know that she could believe Uranus. Her grandfather asked, “So, granddaughter, do we have a deal?”
Sighing, she quietly said, “Yes, we have a deal. Now could you show me where I will be living? Aza and I are exhausted.”
