His Unwanted Bride (Married by Mistake)

153: He didn't survive

Ch. 153 / 183 Mar 06, 2026

Aurora's eyes immediately welled up with tears. She hung up and turned to glance at Adrian “I need to return to X-city now” she declared.

How can it be that Santiago and Charlotte would lose their baby,no way. She needs to return to her family and see what they can do to save the baby's life.

She'll contact the genealogists in the hospital to attend to Charlotte. They should do their best to ensure both the mother and baby are safe and free from harm's way.

“What happened?” Adrian asked. Aurora's change of mood after making that call, and the tears that followed after she hung up, implies that something has gone wrong somewhere.

“Charlotte has probably lost the baby,“ Aurora informed. Now, she's not interested in anything else but returning home to be with her. What happened, didn't she visit the hospital for a checkup?

“That's not possible. She's due to have the baby anytime soon. Did she go into preterm?” Adrian asked. And he was waiting to become a godfather.

“She couldn't feel the baby's kicking and the ultrasound revealed that the baby's pulse was low…” Aurora explained.

Adrian doesn't know much about medical but definitely knows that low pulse implies that the breathing was having issues. He didn't ask Aurora anything but took his phone and called Clem, he could get the helicopter ready, they are traveling.

He got Elsie and Aurora and a few hours later, they arrived at X-city. Aurora had been shedding tears along the way to X-city that Adrian simply pulled her into a side hug until the helicopter landed.

Charlotte was in the hospital, admitted and when they got there, she had undergone a C-section and the baby despite being weak, with a faint pulse, was transferred into the Neonatal unit.

Santiago looked all worried and scared. Was he going to lose his baby just like that?Charlotte has been transferred in the ward to recover while Nancy and Simon were sitting by.

Magda, Jimmy's fiance, was also around. She was the one at home, got things and sent them back to the hospital. Her future mother in-law said they all can't leave the mansion.

She was worried sick and at a time she started sobbing. She has no one at home to tell her what exactly is going on. Mother in-law would answer her phone each time she calls and say everything will be fine.

She wants everything to be alright indeed, but then, what exactly is going on, how's Charlotte, is the baby safe, is everyone at ease at the hospital?

Jimmy would have given her all the information but he's at the base for two days now. He doesn't know what has happened, but she left him a message and she believes others will too.

Adrian supported Aurora and Elsie was taken to the mansion. It was while Aurora arrived and insisted on checking on the baby that she realized that the baby's heart was not even working anymore.

The pediatricians said they knew the baby couldn't survive but they needed to do the best that they could, and see if it would help give the baby a second chance.

When she stepped out, her eyes welled up but she bowed her head. Santiago knew something was off,has he lost his baby now?

“Aurora, what happened?” Santiago asked, his eyes reddened, his heart beating fast, not wanting to hear about his baby's death but still trying to brace himself up for whatever news his sister would give him.

Aurora didn't respond. This is hard. How can she break the news of her baby nephew's death? Is this how difficult this can be?

She'd been practicing for a while now, there has never been a situation where she found it difficult to talk or say exactly the way things are or raise her head and glanced at the patient's relative.

How can she, when she's also one of the patient's relatives. She looked away but sniffled, trying her best to keep the tears in check.

“Aurora what happened? Is Dominic recovering? How's my grandson?” Nancy asked, her voice shaking. Her instincts tell her she's lost a baby and it's her little cutie Dominic.

“Mom” was all Aurora could say and her tears gave way, cascading seamlessly down her cheeks. She couldn't hold back, so she went and hugged her mother.

“We lost him mom, we lost our little Dominic…” Aurora sobbed. She held her mother so tight and the two women started sobbing.

“What! My baby!” Santiago stuttered. His heart was beating fast and his eyes became clouded. He closed his eyes and a lone tear rolled down his cheeks.

He'd looked forward to having Dominic in his life. The anticipation, the excitement that comes with being a new dad and the love he and Charlotte had dreamt of showering on their son, where is he now?

Everything went down the drain. It's over, Dominic is dead. He'd barely breath in the air of this life and he's gone. As quickly as he came, he'd also gone away.

Adrian went to him and hugged him tightly. He could feel the man's breath hard as his ribcage was going high and low. This is heartbreaking and unpleasant.

“Santiago, please put yourself together,” Adrian consoled. He doesn't know what it's like to lose a child but he certainly knows that feeling of losing a loved one, he's been in his shoes before, when he lost his mother.

Aurora had experienced it too, when she lost her papa Sam Leon. That feeling is characterized by some kind of unexplainable feeling of loneliness.

“Adrian I lost my baby…I just lost my son” Santiago mumbled, in a shaking voice. He hugged Adrian and sobbed quietly on his shoulders, sniffling at intervals. He'd just lost his first child.

More than eight months of discomfort and body changes and mood swings have all gone to waste. How's Charlotte going to take it, this is hard for her, harder for her than him.

“My condolences Santiago” Adrian consoled. He patted his back gently and said “You have to be strong for your wife, Charlotte. Please be strong” he consoled.

Simon Blake was the only one calm and Adrian was the support for Santiago as he was told to come claim Dominic's remains. He didn't get to carry his son in his arms but he got to see him rolled up in swaddling clothes and ready to bury him.

He signed the necessary documents and in the company of Adrian, Santiago's bodyguards went with them, and buried Dominic's remains.

When he returned back to the hospital, he'd hardly sat down when the nurses came to call him “Mrs Charlotte is awake and calls for you”
